Hi when does pokemon 151 release? Thx

    • First products will be September, next lot in October. EB games has the dates up for each product (though avoid buying from there since cheaper elsewhere)

      • Thx!

      • Is the a pack that will get me the whole set of he original re-release? I know they have Pokemon TCG - Scarlet & Violet: 151 Ultra-Premium Collection and Pokemon - TCG - Scarlet & Violet: 151 Elite Trainer Box for preorder. I just don't know if they come with random cards or come complete, have not purchased any cards before, would like to have a set to open and play around with.

Ah this set is just all Kanto Pokemon, but it's not a re release of the original sets from way back when. Unfortunately all packs come with random cards, so unless you're getting hundreds of packs to open, you likely won't be able to complete the set that way.

Special sets like 151 done come in single blister packs or booster boxes, only special types of boxes like you've mentioned, each coming with different extra such as promo cards or pins.

Saying that, it should be a pretty fun set to open and has some great looking art!

If you're looking to actually play the tcg, some of the various pre built battle decks around should be a good way to start and get playing, before going deeper into it all.

Does that help answer your question much?

          • @happychild100: Thank you for the detailed reply, I'm just looking at how I could possibly get a set of re-released cards (original from way back). Just to open and for the artwork, I don't want to actually start playing (battle). Probably best I just leave it then, started collecting Amiibos back in the days, have around 80 or so (all opened), while nice to have the $$$ does add up.

            • @tsole: Understand! They technically re released the original Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur cards in the Celebrations set in 2021 if you're keen on those 3, Might not be many products around though, but buying those 3 cards doesn't cost too much otherwise. I can't recall any re release of the OG set that you might be after though, certainly not recently, not like what Yu-Gi-Oh is currently doing anyway.

            • @tsole: There was a rerelease about 8 years back, called "Evolutions" in the Xand Y series. You'd be looking at around $1200 for a booster box of that currently. About 36 packs.

Otherwise there has been some announcements of a classic set likely coming late this year. https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-tcg/product-gallery/pokem…

  • 178 at newbee toys inc shopping. Are you able to match?

  • I haven't bought Pokemon cards for almost two decades. Can someone fill me in why you'd pay effectively $29 per pack? Is this like a flipping thing?

$180 for a booster box, which consists of 36 packs. That's $5 each?

$1060 is for a case, which is 6 booster boxes, so 216 packs @ $4.90.

Derp, I see where I got confused now. Fair enough.

        • If it makes you feel better, there is a LotR x Magic the Gathering thing where each booster pack was like $80(?).

        • $5 per pack is pretty good price. Usually buying ETBs at retail or just below retail comes out to $6-7 per pack which is fair.

      • 216 packs of Pokémon cards is peak consoomer, even if people are mostly doing it to try to flip a profit. But hey, the market is the market and I collect PS3 games so who am I to talk

        • Definitely wish the market is only of people who consume the content instead of flippers (e.g. PS5 sitch)

      • a benefit of sealed products over individual booster packs is that you can somewhat guarantee the seller hasn't weighed the booster pack and sell you the lightweight ones.

        • weighing isn't a thing with modern packs. They add in code cards to offset weights.
