I've searched high and wide for an answer to this but there's seemingly no clear answer - I'm a noobie so I've found that a lot of posts are too complicated or use too much jargon/acronyms for my small brain.
Essentially I'd like to transfer 280k Amex points out for a trip to Europe next year. What's the best way to do this?
I've looked at Cathay/Asia Miles, Qatar Avios and Krisflyers (KF). KF seem to have the best systems where you can actually see what flights are available and for how much. Asia Miles on the other hand seems to have the worst UI and I can't get to a ballpark about seat availability and pricing.
Ideally I can snag an economy flight to Europe and still have some left over for a flight to NZ or domestically but I know I'll need to be flexible. thanks OzB
For Cathay seat availability check Qantas website, for Qatar check Velocity, for Singapore Airlines check Krisflyer, for their Star alliance partners check aa.com
These websites give you a good overview of availability and then you have to give the airline a call to book these seats.
With krisflyer you can book the flights over the phone first and send miles within 48h, with all others you have to have your miles on account while making a booking.
PS! My info is from few years ago, haven't travelled in recent years.
