Just Ported to Woolworths but Can’T Make Calls

Today, I ported into Woolworths Mobile a few hours before the cut off time. It was done within 10 minutes and the old sim changed to SOS. I was happy it was very quick and didn’t test it. Just now I found out that I can’t call or sms out. I can only receive calls.

The prepaid is charged today so why can’t I call? I paid $170 and am I held hostage until Monday when I can call up to fix it? Shouldn’t they just not port over instead of doing a half port? I need to use my phone tomorrow. Can anyone with porting experience help with suggestions?

I think it is a purposeful setup for the stolen number situation. The previous SIM may be still have the callout function (to report it). Otherwise, the person may be in limbo.

    Just wait.

  • Reset your mobile network settings - for iPhones go to settings / mobile / mobile data network / reset settings - then restart your phone
Sorry but not sure about Android, had the same issues when I ported from Boost 3 months ago.

    • Thanks. Tried but didn’t work.

      • Sorry I couldn't help you, that fixed my issue.

  • When porting to woolies it takes about half an hour for your service to “recharge”/credit to appear. Frustrating but give it some time.

  • Call centre closed 2.5hrs before the porting cut off time. Could it be they already closed shop when call centre closed for the day?

On the app it still said porting in progress. Might as well not port over if it’s a half job.

    • If you can receive call, then your number has been ported. There is no such thing as half ported.

Have you tried your sim on another phone and see if it can make outgoing calls?

  • It's very common when porting numbers. But usually it's the other way around, outbound calls work and inbounds may only work with some networks and not others. Unfortunately you just need to wait.

If its an issue with the upstream provider you will be stuck until Monday

    • It’s strange to have a half port. This means if anyone sms since yesterday, I will never receive it bc my number is not activated. I didn’t mind paying old carrier until tomorrow if they couldn’t activate fully.

  • Call them.

    • OP needs another active SIM to call out.

      • Most people on here would have a few boost services on the go from all the deals.

    • They’re closed until tomorrow morning. Hopefully it fixes itself during business hours.

  • Slightly different but my brother also has issues on Woolworths network when it comes to using Wechat. Just won't receive messages until he connects to wifi BUT when he puts in another sim card, it works fine on 4g. Bit odd
