Value of a PC- Rough Estimate

Hi, all. It's a long story, but I have come into possession of a PC.

These are the specs:-

  • Lian Li case, with 2 glass panels
  • Intel I7-10700k Processor
  • Asus Z490E Gaming Mainboard
  • 32GB Ram G Skill (2 x 16) Trident Z RGB
  • 500GB Crucial SSD (Basic - Not 3.5")
  • Geforce RTX 2080 Super 8GB
  • 3internal fans NZXT
  • No windows Key (yet)

Any idea how much this would be worth to sell on Facebook Marketplace, or Gumtree?

Probably about $500 but I'll take it off your hands to save dealing with marketplace idiots…

Second hand prices for PCs unless the components are ultra in demand is 50% of retail at best though. I would say a grand is the very top end of which you could get, I think $500~$750 more realistic for a quick sale.

        LOL
The parts are 3+ years old, old generations, of course pc part picker says $2100, they probably haven't been sold retail for 2 to 4 years.
Your PC is probably worth $500-600, but some idiot on FB marketplace would probably pay $900-$1k, there are always morons looking to get ripped off on there.

Then why ask here if you've already got a (not realistic) price in your mind.

Specs alone I am thinking 500-750. Pre-builts are getting cheaper and cheaper. This for example, while has pros and cons compared to yours, is overall better. All it needs is some extra RAM and it's basically on par.

    • Yes, AMD kicks butt. :)
They started out making chips for Intel, then went, Oh we can make a similar chip and sell it cheaper in the 386 days.

As long as you aren't leaving the PC gaming club, I'd buy a similar prebuilt and salvage the CPU, Mobo (for CPU compatability) and GPU from it to put in your case.
Move the CPU and GPU into the prebuilt case and sell it for a similar price.

I did the same a few years ago and was only out a few hundred for a decent upgrade. Only thing that screwed me over was that a 3070 is much bigger than a 1070 and I had to use the new case to house it all.

  • I find it can be easier to sell the gpu and the pc seperately.

Weirdly there are people who have a gpu but no pc, and pc with a need for a gpu. 2080 super is good stuff.

Around 1k. Try put up for $1100-1200 and see if you get any offers.

    RTX 2080 Super is worth ~ $290
    10th-Gen i7 is worth ~ $220
    Mobo is worth ~ $150
Lian Li Case is worth ~ $45
    32 GB RAM is worth ~ $80
Your SSD is worth $20 bucks
You don't mention a PSU, but let's say its worth another $30 bucks
So total value if you part it out is $835 - but that will take a lot of back and forth and haggling and organising logistics and you may not sell all the components.
If you list it on marketplace for ~$700 ~$750 I think you'd get some nibbles.
But make sure you clean it thoroughly first and take awesome photos.
Also helps to do some basic benchmarking and show screenshots with the MSI Afterburner/Riva Tuner Statistics overlay

Hard to determine an accurate price when you haven't even mentioned how much RGB it has.

      how much RGB

It’s 2023, it’s safe to assume at least some

      • Not sure what RGB is (other than an TV standard). I just saw it on there. ;)

    • This is true as RGB devalues every PC… IMWO

Thank you for everyone that replied with sensible comments. I was after a ballpark figure, before decising to sell it, and its probably better than my AMD R7 build i'm using.
It belonged to my son who is no longer with us, and I'm just trying to recover some money, make use of gear or dispose of it. This is obviously a very sensitive matter, and I probably should have mentioned it in the OP.

I also have a brand new Western Digital 16TB Gold drive on Ebay if anyone is interested.
