This is a good price if it is really the PRO version and not just the standard Extreme…
Model number SDSSDE81-4T00-G25 is mentioned in title. So definitely the pro version.
I ordered a normal Extreme version from Officeworks (SDEX612TB) a while back and they accidentally sent me the PRO version… 🤣
Should have tried ordering more lol
Wonder how Amazon works out Australian pricing? $240 USD atm - https://twitter.com/mkbhd/status/1681353155970318351?s=46&t=…
Conversion rate (probably not the best) + gst
Yeah I guess so. Our consumer rights I think are a bit better so I’m sure that’s factored in. Also the RRP for this seems to be only $300 in the US - https://www.westerndigital.com/products/portable-drives/sand…
Hmm seems like these have an abnormally high failure rate, covered by Louis Rossman

Yeah from what I’ve been reading, I think I’ll pass on this.
Read this before buying the 4TB model.

Not confident in these drives after Sandisk's slow response to the 4TB drive failure issues and lack of firmware update for the 2TB drives.

I would rather rely on the Samsung T7 etc.
This drive has high fail rates. Wouldnt recommend.
International shipping from US - how do I claim warranty if the drive fail? Or just simply return and get the full refund?
You will need to deal with Amazon Australia for the warranty.
I stalked this thing for ages before buying just above $500 about 2 months ago - would have jumped on this! Great deal.
The real appeal over T7 etc is the 3.2x2 speed (~2000MB/s vs ~1000MB/s) if you have the port for it on your PC; there's literally not an alternative at 4TB I'm aware of.
I personally haven't had any issues whatsoever with it. The version of this same product (4tb extreme pro) I received from Amazon US - so probably the same seller - was already patched with the firmware update.
I also really do think that if they've patched the firmware to deal with an SSD issue it's probably actually fixed and the early adopters have paid the tax for everybody. e.g. the Samsung 990 Pro. Absolutely willing to be corrected but I haven't seen an iterative patch series of 'oh we didn't really fix it' on an SSD.
This is also on back order, so hopefully all patched up before being sold to Amazon.
$1199.00 at officeworks.
I wonder if they'll price match?
