Motorola Phones Finally Receive 2 Years of Warranty

Just noticed that the new Edge 40 listing on Harvey Norman showed 2 years and checked phones such as the 30 neo and Ultra on JB's site and they are all showing 2 years now. This new addition goes well with their half price deals. Info could be of use to someone.

  • I remember when I worked for a telco way back when a phone only had 1 year manufacturing warranty. It wasn't until maybe mid 2010's when a customer purchased a phone on a 24m contract, the phone will have 24m warranty, second year warranty paid by the telco since warranty was still 1 year manufacturing warranty. So the first year you can go to Samsung but the second year you have to go to the teclo for replacement or repair.

I've noticed now most phones are now 2 years manufacturing warranty but if Motorola has been 1 year all this time outright purchase (not contract), then that's interesting. If I purchased a moto last year, I would automatically assume its 2 years

    • yeah everyone except them had 2 in the past, apart from supermarket phones and grey imports.

Edit: Apple still has 1 year but it seems that making such a small range of phones helps with quality.

    • That's because around the 2010's the ACCC hammered the Telcos/Manufacturers and won several court cases throughout the years.

1 year warranty on a phone is daylight robbery at this point considering the established facts of all those cases.

  • +3

Phones that cost $1k+ should really have 3 years warranty.

    • only phones with 3 years are Nokia's as cheap as $350

  • Still rocking my edge 30 neo, had a glitch which moto rescue tool fixed, and just yesterday got Android 13.
