Korean Airlines experiences/reviews?

Hi all,

I am looking to fly to Japan later this year and looking at Korean Airlines as they are quite okay on the price and the flight times are nice!

Just wondering if you guys have thoughts on Korean Airlines and any feedback?

Also, we will be arriving in Japan around 10pm so is I'm guessing staying at an airport hotel for that night would be best right?

Would love to hear what you guys think!

Cheers guys!

Korean Air is a reputable airline and is known for providing quality service. They are a major carrier in South Korea and offer flights to various destinations worldwide. Many travelers have had positive experiences flying with Korean Air, citing comfortable flights, good customer service, and competitive pricing. It's always a good idea to check customer reviews and ratings specific to your departure and arrival airports for more insights.

Arriving in Japan at 10pm can present some challenges, especially if you have onward transportation or accommodation arrangements to consider. Staying at an airport hotel for the night can be a convenient option, as it provides easy access to your accommodation without having to worry about transportation to the city late at night. Additionally, airport hotels often offer shuttle services and have amenities that cater to travelers in transit. It's important to remember to check the availability and pricing of airport hotels near your arrival airport in Japan to make an informed decision.

They are one of the best airlines I've flown with for economy class. Good excuse to add a stopover in Korea too. If you select the option that arrives at Haneda airport (HND) it is much closer to central Tokyo so no need to stay in an airport hotel or pay for the expensive train.

Thats very good to know. Thank you so much for the input! I am tempted by the recent jetstar sales but I have been burnt with Jestar before and I would pay a few hundred more for some peace of mind. Thank you!

They worked hard to fix the cultural problems that caused them to crash into the ground: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_of_culture_on_aviatio…
Note I am genuine about this - I would rather fly with an airline that recognised issues and addressed them rather than one who assumed they had none.

  • They're not bad but only depart Sydney now I believe? Nothing special but nothing terrible either in my single round trip to Europe with them a few years ago.

    • They have flights out of Brisbane now too.

Good airline except when they stray off course, e.g. KL007

    • ah Sakhalin one, I watched this in ACI.

Have just done rtn flts to europe with them including a Seoul stopover. I rate them as excellent. Very relaxing, low stress environment. Good food and service. Seats are wider and more spacious than most airlines in economy. Would definitely fly them again. also app is excellent.

    • Do they still offer STPC service?

I heard that KE stopped providing Stopover Paid by Carrier when Covid-19 started.

What’s the go now? Economy seats still get STPC?

      • No I think the free stop over has been stopped for a while. But there is a visa waiver for the next year or so and the rest of the immigations / customs is all online with a qcode so incredibly efficient. So people use the airport transit hotel for shorter transit breaks.

Awesome! Might go with them if that is the case. Jetstar prices are tempting but I'd rather some peace of mind and comfort to be honest. I am flying out of Brisbane so the Cairns stopover is not very appealing for me. 4 whole hours in Cairns airport

      • Asiana airlines provides STPC once over certain hours FWIW

Given the choice between Korean and Qantas direct, I'd fly Korean in a heartbeat.

Fly Jetstar and you can save money by sleeping on the airport floor

Just note that nuts are served in a factory sealed pack rather than on a plate in first class if that bothers you.

They are great. The seats are roomy and the food is pretty decent for airline food. You'll definitely have a better flight than if you flew Jetstar

At 10PM you'll clear customs and be out around 11PM. May be a bit late catching a train out so you should budget the cost of a taxi to your hotel. If you're lucky, your hotel may have an airport transfer that can pick you up. Shoot them an email to find out!
