[VIC] 6 Complimentary Tickets to Borealis on The Lake Daylesford + $4.95 Booking Fee Per Ticket @ Promotix

120

I saw this event last year and it was awesome! Would recommend!

Experience the Northern Lights in Daylesford this week!
Borealis on the Lake is set to bring
the Northern Lights to Lake Daylesford.
A breath taking blend of technology and art,
witness unique auroras projected across Lake Daylesford
through colour, movement, density of light beams
and changing weather.

Be transported to a place far away,
where time slows down as eyes look up,
immersed in the wonder and magic of Borealis.

Created by Switzerland-based artivist Dan Acher
and set to a tranquil soundtrack by French musician
Guillaume Desbois, Borealis on the Lake is a place
where strangers come together and connect
beyond their differences – where the landscape becomes a playground to explore belonging and community.

Enjoy!

    Borealis on the Lake?
    At this time of year?
    At this time of day?
In this part of the country?
    Localised entirely within your lake?

  • +3

Would be worth it just to get a bird's eye view of the Commonwealth Games sites.

    • Sorry, what?

We didn't enjoy it last year.

Not sure if it was the long drive to get there.
Dodgy (affordable?) accommodation for the night.
Crazy expensive restaurant with snobby service.

The searching forever for a car space, then standing around in a queue with your kids, for what seemed like another forever, in the freezing cold Daylesford night, hands & feet like iceblocks, waiting to be let through the gates, then walking in the dark via muddy pathways to a cold concrete seating area.
Where you spend your session watching a Laser Light show reflecting off a generated Smokey haze, with background ambient sound effects.

We lasted 30 minutes. It was just too cold, and you can only endure the Endless Light Effect/Sound Loop so many times

Effective, Yes ! It did look pretty good - We were lucky there was no breeze as I've heard that the light effects are not as good without the Smokey Haze.

There was a coffee van near the seating area, but we had to literally wade through mud in the dark to get to the queue.

We should have been better prepared to be completely honest.

Warmer gear, Snow Gear at a minimum ! WARM GLOVES or Pocket Warmers. Thick Socks - Take a spare pair of boots/shoes, Socks for after.
    EDIT: Ear Muffs !

More torches just for walking around (although there were people asking that the torches be turned off so as not to affect the 'show')

The whole area wasn't lit very well, inc. the car park. Someone else's kid very nearly walked into the lake.

This is just our experience - I'm sure others have really enjoyed it !

      It was just too cold

That's enough for me to say no

      They should do it Oct/Nov

      Ticked all the no boxes

Does seem like a loop that you can only watch so much off before you're over it.

I did also think immediately at how damn cold it would be standing around Daylesford at night time.

A long way to traipse up to to see a few colourful lights.

ive found thats the general consensus with events in Australia compared to the rest of the world, don't expect too much and you will enjoy it🤣🤣
