I got this email this morning:

===================================================

LIMITED-TIME OFFER
You are eligible to purchase High Performance Starlink Kits at $2,992, instead of the typical price of $3,740. This 20% discount is available for a limited time.

HOW TO ORDER
You can order for Roam, Business, Maritime, or Mobility depending on your use case. If you are an existing customer, you can order additional Starlinks on the shop.

WHY HIGH PERFORMANCE?

Here are speed tests from two installs I did on the weekend for the basic residential:

Referral Links

Referral: random (92)

The referrer and referee receives bonus credit for a month of standard service, 30 days after the referee activates and keeps their Starlink. Referrals will only issue credits to Standard Plan (Residential) and Mobile Regional (Roam) subscriptions. Kits purchased from a retailer or reseller are not eligible for the referral program. No credit will be given even if a referral link was used during activation.

    $374 for ~150Mbps down a month…

    Yikes.

I get the high-performance model offers better durability, but why does that 2x the monthly charge?

    $374 for ~150Mbps down a month…

This offer makes NBN a steal lol

    • +6

But can NBN Roam, Business, Maritime, or Mobility?

      • +2

for this price, I'd gladly go back to dial-up

        • +7

          You'd pay $374 for dialup?!?!

Each to three own i guess.

          • +4

@wisc: Each to four one I guess

          • @wisc: you went to school at all?

              • @easternculture: i meant reading my comment again. it literally says that i would go back to dial-up rather than pay that price

            • @vincesuarez: you ever heard of auto carrot?

No your comments says, you would gladly pay that for dial up.

      • Hi skinnybutt1 - know anyone or seen Starlink Maritime, or Mobility at work? - a Speedtest result would be nice to see.

Latency on the NBN Skymuster is 1 second which is crap for anything interactive.

      just get Telstra 5G lol

    • I disagree, starlink has set no data caps or shaping
NBN Sat has both limitations as well as high latency and slow routing.

For $374 a month you'd expect it to come with a Tesla

    • +1

      yeah, that's good deal.

Working 3 days a week from a camping setup moving across Southern NSW, SA, WA, or from a Yacht sailing around southern Australia makes it about $32 a day - pretty crazy that there is an affordable service providing the ability to do something like that.

    • Doesnt standard starlink do it for cheaper?
It is pretty cool to be able to get fast internet anywhere while on holiday.

  • Is this a type of IQ test?

    • -1

I suppose if you paid $44b for something that's never made a profit, then this is a steal.

  • -2

pretty good price for Maritime use, I had a friend that use to work on a ship and they paid about $10K a month for there Internet connection.
