Personal advice
- Look for a cheaper fitter near you, try multiple post codes near you and choose the sort by price ascending option at checkout, to see which fitter you want to choose.
- Look for tyres with free shipping to you or to fitter to save cost (as you wont normally earn cashback on delivery charges)
- Look for what wheel alignment setting you need, generally speaking a 2 wheel drive car (front or rear wheel) only really needs the 2 wheel alignment - Drive wheels. All wheel drive cars could consider buying 4 wheel alignment.
- You can choose to pay more for branded tyres, or pay less for cheaper brands like WinRun/Rapid/Comforser/GrenLander etc.
- As a general rule if your car is having ( bad bushings/alignment/keep hitting potholes/dont rotate or take care of tyre pressure regularly/do harsh driving- strong accelerations or lots of highway driving or sudden braking quite a lot) etc. you can expect your tyres to only last around 15-30K anyway even on branded tyres.
- To extend life of your tyre, you should take care of correct tyre pressure, get them rotated every 5-7K Km, drive with moderation, and take care of wheel alignments and bushings etc. It may or may not be worth it for you spending more effort and money on these, But def should at least take care of correct tyre pressures.
- Rubber is a degrading part, it will degrade with time, regardless of usage. Generally manufacturer's recommend changing tyres every 5 yrs or so.
- If you see a cheaper price for tyre you can get it price beaten by tyroola, (but it wont be eligible for cashback, so keep cashback in mind when calculating total cost)
- I have used tyroola 3 times so far, all times gotten very good experience with tyres (1x WinRun, 2X Rapid).
- Some tyres retailers sell tyres with free puncture repairs, which might be worth considering if you tend to get a lot of flats (tyroola adds a tyre protection plan itself- you can remove it if you do not need it -important to keep in mind that only covers 1st year or until tyre reach min legal tread limit). I personally have only had 1 tyre gone flat in family in 5 years.
- Always buy/consider buying new tyres instead of 2nd hand used tyres IMO. Last 2nd hand used tyre I got lasted like <1 year before getting a buldge/bubble. Buying from a shaddy seller is also not recommended, who knows the tyre could have been cut to make thread longer (and damage its strength). New tyre retailers are always recommended who also give a new tyre warranty on manufacturing defects.
I am more curious on how to ask rep for a deal :)
