Cuckoo Fuzzy Logic 6 Cup Rice Cooker Pink $139.99 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required)

470

I have been researching to replace our Panasonic Fuzzy Logic rice cooker.

Although the Induction Heating ones sounds good - I don't think we would benefit from it to pay double to triple the price. Definitely won't use stove top or old fashioned rice cookers.

Costco has this 6 cup model for $139.99 delivered, which although not the lowest ever, it is the lowest now.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Costco online membership and the online process is making me go to the warehouse to validate - which I won't bother doing!

Hopefully someone has a use for this whilst I hope that another company on eBay or Amazon will price match.

  • Good deal for John Wyndham.

Good cooker! Bought one in store for Mum a week ago for $125. Might be cheaper in store!

    • Yeah usually the case, as online price includes delivery.

But sometimes online specials are not in sync with instore specials.

    I paid $150 in May ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ
Still worth it in my opinion, have been eating heaps of rice and it's always perfectly fluffy

    • I'm sure you've eaten $11 in rice since then, no biggie.

      • Much more than $11 worth ๐Ÿ˜

  • Is this a pressure cooking model?

    • +27

Yes it whispers to the rice 'all the cool kids are doing drugs.'

    • No. Look for "P" in the model name.

Grey also available for $139.99 delivered

    The colour is very 1985

  • I own this, it's amazing. Would recommend 100%

    • How long does the rice take to cook?

      • about an hour or slightly under

      • Depends how much rice and what type of rice you cook. I do 2 cups of jasmine rice and it takes about 30 mins.

  • Own 2 cuckoo commerical rice cookers, very happy with them

I'd love a Rice cooker, but I get pretty good results with our Joseph Joseph Microwave container

    • +2

Stopped microwaving rice. Break the microwave faster, plus it is not really good to heat up plastics.

      • +1

Microwave still going well after 6 years, which the JJ came with. :)

        • Doesn't it have that nuked taste ๐Ÿšฉ

      • May need to stop microwaving other things than rice for the sake of saving the microwave…

    • +1

i usually would not agree with this but i went to my mates place and his mum just cooked some rice with the microwave and it came out nice and fluffy. I was shocked. I had never seen it done well with a microwave before this.

      • Uncle Roger does not approve of this :P

  • Pink OOS, grey in stock. I have a different model of cuckoo rice cookers and it's worked well so far

Any reason why you're looking at replacing your Panasonic with this one? Why not another, newer model perhaps, of a Panasonic Fuzzy Logic rice cooker?

    • The old Panasonic is about 15 years old! Been great - no complains.

  • +2

I have a higher end Cuckoo than this, it's absolutely fantastic. Seems to be equivalent to Tiger but without the brand-based price hike.

    • Cuckoo is way better than tiger…

Apologies as I can't find this info, but does anyone know if this has a minimum amount it can cook?
I'm an extremely lonely bachelor, so just wondering if this would cook a cup of rice alone or if it is better salted with my tears.

    • There's a 3 cup version which would be better suited. I think this 6 cup version would need 2 cups minimum. However, if it suits your lifestyle, this can keep rice warmed and reheated for days on end.

      • Can't that kill people :o

        • +3

I had the same reaction, but apparently that's what the keep warm function is actually for.
I always thought it was to keep the rice ready for serving, but supposedly it's meant to keep the temperature too high for the bacteria to grow

      • Yep, the 3-cup one has a half cup minimum.

      • +1

Or just refrigerate the leftover rice and throw it in stirfry/fried rice the following night(s). The secret to perfect fried rice is to always use refrigerated rice anyway.

    • +1

2 "cups" is the first water measurement in the bowl. It's not a metric cup though, it's a 1 portion cup. So if you don't mind fridging/reheating, that's 2 portions

    • +2

2 cups according to the user manual

    • +1

I make 1 cup. Use 1.5x water for white rice and 2x water for brown rice.

Ordered the model (CR-0632F) from Amazon prime day for 139$ and will get delivered tomorrow. What are the differences besides the model number on this?

    • +1

Colour - you got the grey version which I wanted but missed out.

      • +4

        Oh OK. Thanks.

For the uninitiated, middle finger is the best measurement of water quantity to add in. ๐Ÿ–•

plenty of stock of the grey version at Costco, Moorabbin for $129.99.

    Does it play Kelly Clarkson?

    • No Kelly Clarkson!

  • Bought this off eBay a few months ago and I love it! Rice always comes out fluffy and itโ€™s easy to clean
My old rice cooker always burnt the bottom

  • The clock stays on even if power is turned off at the socket.

So the clock has it's own battery, which is a good thing, otherwise would have to set the clock whenever it's unplugged.

    • haha we have never set the clock on ours so it's some random time

  • I managed to get the grey one from Amazon last week for this price when they had 20% cash back. Just waiting for it to turn up to see if it's worth it now

  • I switched from Zojirushi and Tiger electric rice cookers to Cuckoo electric pressure cooker. The product I am currently using is a pressure cooker, and I have been using it well for 15 years. After using a pressure cooker, you will never go back to a regular rice cooker.

    • +2

What are the benefits you have seen from the switch?

      • When you look at it after cooking, the rice grains are glossy, and the taste is much better. I think the appearance of steamed rice and cooked rice would be appropriate.

  • I wish the Cuckoo 10 cup IH + Pressure rice cooker was on special more often. I put off buying it when seeing it so many times last year but finally decided to buy it now after other family members asked to replace our 15+ year old Sharp rice cooker. Got tired of checking for specials regularly so I pulled the trigger yesterday on ebay with a $50 coupon. I have tempered expectations for how much "better" the rice will be. At the very least, I hope it maintains rice temperature without losing moisture like my current rice cooker.

  • just wondering whats the difference between this rice cooker from a $17 kmart rice cooker?

    • -1

A $17 kmart anything is likely to eventually burn your house down, seriously though….. function on the cheaper cookers isn't as good, in my experience the rice bowl quickly convexes leaving you with a varying depth of water covering the rice as it cooks.
