Getting New Connection for Electrical

Hi team,

Moving from AGL to Globird. Globird charges new connection setup and AGL charges disconnection fees.

AGL is scheduled to disconnect on 19th july
Globird is scheduled to connect on 18th july

Am I doing this correct?

Not sure which state you are in mate and what rules are there but in victoria when you change supplier no need to give notice to previous supplier and no disconnection or reconnection charges involved

      I’m in NSW

      • give a call to Globird and advise your situation not sure if it would be different in NSW but Globird can advise you better changing provided doesn't require disconnection or reconnection in here

You're just changing who your retailer is. There's no physical connecting and disconnecting required. Your electricity is still coming down the same wires from the same generators. Its just who bills you that's changing. That only requires taking a reading of your meter. The power distributor for your state gets told to do a meter read, if possible for when it was scheduled to happen anyway, and both the old and new retailers get that number. The old retailer issues a final bill, the new one starts billing you.

Technically speaking, electricity doesnt stop. Only the company billing you changes. When people buy/sell houses, there will be times where no retailer is serving the property but electricity still flows.

You can put AGL to disconnect on the 18th and Globird to connect on the 19th.
