If I was building a new DDR4 rig now it would be a no-brainer - RGB + 3600 CL16 is the most premium budget DDR4 option - it's even DJR which is pretty good.

    Alas it's a year late.

  • Damn bought Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 2x16gb 3600 CL18 for $129 2 weeks ago.

  • +1

Are there any cl14 3600 kits?

    • Cheapest option used to be the teamgroup 3600 cl14 on amazon, it went down in price now is rising again due to scarcity.

  • How is this vs the corsair vengeance 3200mhz lpx?

    I have a 12400f, will 3200 or 3600 be better on a z690?

    • Basically no difference for gaming. Incredibly minor for computational workloads. On Intel, ram speeds just aren't a huge issue.

  • just bought FURY Beast RGB… I wonder is this going to perform better than the Beast?

  • Got it. Now need a mITX mother board to go with and i5-13500

    $129.00 WA

    • +1

Maybe worth online delivery to WA for $120 ($11 standard shipping)?

  • Kits are compat with HyperX Predator!

  • Already have 32GB (2x16GB) of the 3200MHz, non-RGB variant. For an AMD 7800X wanting to go to 64GB overall RAM, do you think it's worth spending the extra money towards 3600MHz (i.e buying two of these kits) or just adding extra 3200MHz?

    • +2

Assume you typo'd 5800X which requires DDR4 ram? It would really depend on what you use the system for and what your graphics card is. eg. do you want 200 FPS at 1080p with a RTX4080 graphics card? if so, there might be a very slight improvement with 3600 ram v 3200. or your existing 3200, if it's Kingston Fury Renegrade, it might just overclock/XMP at 3600 when you install another set of *this kit. Also, assume you'd need 64gb ram because you do heavy production workloads? such as video editing etc? otherwise no game would require more than 32gb currently, furthermore more likely 85% (rough educated guess) of games in existence hardly require more than 8gb of ram…..

in summary, your 32gb 3200 megatransfers kit is already sufficient for 99% of what an AM4 platform could do (or more than most users need). or you could get this kit, and drop your 3200 kit on gumtree if you had OCD about having one of the top performance ram kits at this price for AM4 platform (which is likely the reason I'll end up picking up a kit..)…

Ah yes, my apologies. May work in IT but definitely out of the loop when it comes to models, etc. and other IT hardware.

Really appreciate the long extended reply, thanks.

      • Hi @Doomedgrind

Seeking some wisdom. I've researched quite a bit but am confused.

        I have Ryzen 5 5600, Gigabyte B550M K, RX 6800.
I want better fps and 1% lows.
I currently have Kingston Fury Beast 2 x 8GB 3200 - I'm pretty sure this is single rank ram.

I like maxing out all my games at 1080p and want to play the latest games: BG3 and Starfield.
Would I get more improvement buying this fury renegade ram or buying another 2 x 8gb Beast ram to make it 4 x 8gb? Or would upgrading processor to 5800x3d be more beneficial?

        Thanks in advance

  • Showing up as $129 for me at both stores

  • Never mind i the price dropped to $109.00 at MSY when added to cart!

It sucks how the MSY store at Elizabeth closed as it wasn't very far from my workplace

    • Also sucks my local MSY store caught on fire last week… I cried thinking about all those AM5 $800 motherboards burning to a crisp ..
      https://7news.com.au/video/news/brisbane/major-fire-at-compu…

*note, apparently MSY is referred to as a 'computer factory' ;) i guess they 'manufacture' AM5 boards and the like, rather than being simply a retail store…

      • +2

Sounds like a customer wasn't happy with the service they got from the store :)

        • must've been a case of waiting too long to return his $40 unbranded case ;) Shaw Eco or the likes ;)

      • Sad day, no pc stores local to me now

      • How absolutely low value has our news become to accept "computer factory" as an acceptable description? Not worth spending the 30s to have a look at the company you're reporting on?

  • Got a r5 ryzen im assuming this is a great kit for it?

    • I guess I better ask, which r5 Ryzen? if it's a 2000/3000/4000/5000 series CPU then yes, this DDR4 kit is one of the best for the price. *note 1000/2000/3000 series may have some issues reaching 3600 speed and may have to drop to 3200.. but with 3000/5000 almost guaranteed to run at it's rated 3600 speed XMP profile..

Alternatively, if it's not one of the above, and it's the latest 7000 series Ryzen, then you'd need a DDR5 kit instead..

  • Damn , it just jumped to $129 as I was checking stock.

    • At MSY it was $129 on the page and when I added it to cart it dropped to $109

      • When I changed to click & collect it jumped to $129, or $109+delivery.

I’m sure a phone call would lock in the collect price, alas I couldn’t be bozzed.

  • Also damn - No pick up option for VIC

And its $11 post. Would this kit still be worth it for $120?

    • If you want a dual ranked kit, then yeah definitely worth it at $120.

  • $22 for shipping just few hours from the store is bit rough.

    • $9 shipping and I'm only 15 from my local store .. but it burnt down so now it's $9 or 35 mins to my local store. The locations of stores between eight mile Plains umart and the Gold Coast stores are to far apart now. I hope they rebuild.

    Thanks OP.
Just got 2 x Sth Perth area, $11 shipping. Still showing available. (partpicker showing $129)
It's a frustrating website, can have multiple items in cart, all say "In Stock" at local store, via post, click proceed to checkout it says "Unfortunately some product(s) out of stock" then gotta try & work out which item/s.

  • Thank you - if I want lights, I'll head up Lobethal or even Blackpool come Christmas.

  • would this play well with the Crucial Ballistix Gaming Memory, 2x16GB (32GB Kit) DDR4 3200MT/s CL16 Unbuffered DIMM 288pin Black, (PC4-19200), DDR4, BL2K16G32C16U4B? Currently running 16*2 with the 5800.

    • +1

      No

      Ballistix is Micron die 3200 @ CL16-18-18

      This is Hynix die 3600 @ CL16-20-20

Better to buy 2 sets of these kits and sell off the Ballistix

  • I was pretty tempted to pull the trigger on this after the last time it went out of stock and I missed it, but I learned that you can actually identify the ICs on DDR4 sticks fairly accurately which is a big reason to buy used instead. Personally, I ended up finding some 2x16gb dual rank b-die sticks for a great price.

Of course, if you aren't that into ram overclocking and min-maxing performance it's not a big issue and this is still a very great deal regardless.

    • Yeah it probably won't matter unless you're trying to min-max. 3600 good enough for the vast majority of users on their DDR4 platforms.

DJR performs fairly decently, although these are likely to be binned for this product unless you get lucky. (Kingston have a 5333MT/s SKU with CL20 @ 1.6V… Toasty.)

I wonder how far you could push these past 3600, although I believe the timings would have to be fairly loose.

      • Couple of user reviews state they can do 3733 or even 3800 at XMP timings with a tiny increase in voltage. No idea about actually tightening the timings but 3800 16-20-20-39 isn't bad for a quick and dirty.

        • That's not bad at all. From what I remember reading, frequency on DJR tends to scale fairly high and they can often take a relatively high amount of voltage without problems (Which is why it's not too uncommon to see some DJR XMP profiles set to 1.6v)

          • @cr4pm4n: How did you find Samsung b-die at a great price? Seems like people with b-die know and they are still quite expensive in the second hand market most of the time.

            • @netsurfer: I got it from eBay for roughly $100 which was near the price I offered (For reference, most 2x16gb B-Die I've seen goes for around $150-$200, dual rank or not, not that it matters as much for B-Die).

I have to assume it was partly because the heat spreaders were stained with what looked like some smudges/fingerprints of thermal paste.

Also it might not be the best binned B-Die. The XMP is 3200 with flat 15s and from what I remember people usually try to aim for 3200 flat 14s. Then again, I think that's usually when people are aiming for B-Die brand new when you're often subject to luck of the draw. Then again (again), I've also seen reports of far worse B-Die where the stock XMP is like 3200 16-17-x-x, etc. so the one I got can't be that bad?

Regardless, the seller even stated in the description that it could do 4200 so I have to assume they knew and had OC'd it before. Also the sticks were manufactured in late 2020 so they're not even that old. Who knows? Could've just been in a hurry to get rid of it if they'd moved to DDR5 or something.

I've seen Micron Rev.B going for fairly cheap too but it's kinda rare. Obviously it's not as good as Samsung B-Die but it's still sought after because it's rare and very easy on the IMC and subsequently, tends to be easier to OC than B-Die.

This was also within roughly 1-2 weeks of checking eBay every other day or so, if that helps.

EDIT: If anyone wants help ID'ing ram, here are some useful resources:

              https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/wiki/ram/ddr4#wiki_man…

and (You have to translate the site and click on "Spoiler: Identify the IC assembly using the RAM sticker")

              • @cr4pm4n: DDR4-3200 flat 14s is quite good, DDR4-3200 16-17-x-x defeats the purpose of getting B-die I reckon.

So you managed to get B-die 2x16 DDR4-3200 14-14-14-14 for $100? That's pretty awesome. Part of the issue with getting a more cost effective B-die kit I find is getting one with DDR4-3600 XMP is expensive. A cost effective approach is DDR4-3200 14-14-x-x or DDR4-4000+ with good timings, then manually move down to DDR4-3600.

eBay… has to double check, found a seller quoting B-die, but checking the timing and specs, it just doesn't seem to be B-die, the maths seems to indicate it could just be CJR.

                • @netsurfer: I got 3200 with flat 15s. 15-15-15-35 (Counting RCDRD/WR as one timing). What I meant to say was based off the timings it's possibly not the best or most sought after B-Die but at least it seems to be better binned than other B-Dies that have higher timings out of the box, like 16-17-x-x.

  • Got a pc September last year, would it be worth replacing its 16gb ram with this 32gb?

  • i need ddr4 400mhz c14

  • OOS

  • Oos everywhere dammit
