Hi all, we have a decent amount of Indian rupee notes that I need to sell back to aud. Does anyone know who has the best rate?
Got quoted 66 rupees per 1 aud, which seems very paltry compared to the buy rate of 1 aud to 45 rupees on the same day.

Where did you see a rate of 45? Lowest interbank rate for the past month has been 54, and currently 56. On this basis 66 seems reasonable.
I do assume the INR banknote left India in accordance with their foreign exchange regulations?
Travel Money Oz is probably the best you are going to get.
If you have family that works at Flight Centre or you booked any travel with them recently then you also get access to preferred rates which are better than what they offer publicly.
Sorry to say currency conversion in person locally is a joke. You get much better rates sending money digitally. With hard cash you’re almost better off flying to the other country and changing it there.
And please don’t try to save money by advertising on marketplace/gumtree, people have been robbed or killed doing so
