Keen to get the Ecovacs N8, and hoping to get reviews of it. I've seen a lot of mapping problems being raised by people, is there any other problems apart from that? Are you in general happy with the purchase, or would you have gotten something else?
Also open to suggestions. My budget is around $500 max. Apartment is mostly carpet, with the kitchen and the toilet being tile and hard wood. I'm keen to get one that mops, but my main concern is that is vacuums the carpet well.

Nope, I've found it to be pretty good.
I have had mine for over 12 months, DO NOT regret it.
No Mapping issues at all, never lost a map.
I have a 2-bedroom unit which is mostly carpet with tiled bathroom and kitchen, I do not use the mopping facility
I have it scheduled to vacuum the kitchen and bathroom every day and the rest of the house mon wed fri and whole unit Saturday
I have no pets
I set up the map,named the rooms,set up virtual barriers, as it got stuck under my bed which surprises me it even fit.
and under my desks or or anywhere I have cables like speaker cables, as it will eventually grab one and put it out lol
I empty the dust bin once a week and inspect the brush as well and I replace the filter ever 6 months
you can clean them out, but a pack of filters and brushes are about $30 so I am happy to replace them
If you get one, I suggest you follow the instructions and map the entire houseplan and mark each room.

Currently have the Roborock S7 plus from the December deal and it's been pretty good so far. A couple of minor quirks but nothing too drastic.
Thanks for the review! Yeah, I was debating between the N8 vs. the Roborock S7 Max (curr. 600 on Amazon) but unfortunately the S7 Max is out of budget :'(
S7 plus is a lot cheaper than the Max.

I have one and don't regret it. Mostly tiles in the house and I have the auto dust bin station, which is very handy. It does an average job at mopping (might just be my dirty floor), but it is kinda handy to have for doing the basics.
It does a reasonable job on carpets as well.
I have two dogs and a cat which results in a lot of hair, so it does a good job for day to day, but sometimes need to get the Miele Dog & Cat out.
