nbn Speed Issue

13/07/2023 The reply on the wifi band are right. I turned off the 2.4GHZ, run the speed test on 5Ghz, the download speed upgraded to 350mpbs, is it normal for a nbn 1000/50 plan?

My connection type is HFC and on a NBN1000/50 plan. I have the issue is my download speed is only 100mbps but my upload speed is 40mbps. I have contacted the technical support, they let me did some speedtest on spot, and refer for further investigation. But it has been 2 weeks and nobody give the answer. Could someone advise what should I do here? My router is ROG AX11000.

100 megabit or megabyte? There's a big difference.

100 megabyte/second would be pretty good for a gbit connection.

100 megabit/second means you need to chase them again. Not much we can do without magic wands.

check ethernet cable to make sure its cat5e and above, as cat 5 cables is limited to 100Mbp/s
make sure laptop/computer is set to full gigabit speed duplex, if its set to 100, it will be limited to 100
check qos settings on router, to make sure its not shaped to 100
    reset ntd and pc router
plug laptop or computer directly into the ntd to perform isolation speed test is all above fails (you will need to kick your session offline, access it through the app if you can)

call up provider to make sure home ultrafast is selected on nbns back end. good luck

      I think you mean 5GHz

      • Yes that is what i meant. Sorry.

        • No need to apologise. 👍

          • @shxhshzhz: I am not sure why people are negging me 😂.
I literally fixed my speed issue by using 5ghz. 2.4 was not letting me go past 100mbps. 5ghz instantly pushed my speed to max limits.

            • @Aap Ke Papa: The neggers show no mercy . It's probably just because you wrote 5G instead of GHz😂

  • Try turning it off, then turning it on.

  • I regularly get the helpful sounding people from "Telstra NBN" calling me about the NBN problems I am having.. maybe they could help you out :) :) :)

  • how old is the modem? when i upgraded to 1000, i had to get a new modem as the one installed when i first got NBN could only 100, can the modem/router handle the 1gigabit connection?

    • Yes it can. It's a VERY expensive, current model consumer grade router.

Check if your router has something like Adaptive QoS setup with a shaping speed, may be set to 100mbps potentially.

    • I tried close the QOS and rubbed the test. Speed test still remain the same.
