  • I am tossing between this and the instant pot. Can anyone provide any insight if they have used either or? Thanks in advance

    • +2

The instant pot duo plus is the only one I have come across that have all of these: stainless steel pot, yoghurt and sous vide function.

    • In what sense?

  • Saw this in Myer
But not really sure how good is this brand
    https://www.myer.com.au/p/cucina-prestigio-healthy-air-fryin…

But it includes airfryer, similar to instant pot duo

    • This Russel Hobbs multicooker also has an air fryer function, apparently; I hope it does anyway, because I don’t want to have to buy an additional appliance.

      • Are you sure? There is nothing about air fryer in the description.

I just went with instant pot duo for $154

        • Hmm I was googling and seeing people say that this multicooker CAN be used as an air fryer. I’ll have to rethink my purchase if this isn’t the case.

      • +1

        Our one doesn’t.

        • Thanks for letting me know. Please see my above reply. Have you tried frying chips or anything of the sort in yours?

  • Only downside of this one personally is the non stick pot. Some people might prefer it.

    • Yes I was wondering about this, but then in thought aren’t most air fryers also nonstick? Indeed steel would’ve been perfect.

  • +1

The only thing I dislike about this one is there is no timer when it’s done. For some things you might want to release after 5 mins and other brands have a timer for this. All you get on this model it a beep and the word eat. Certainly not a major problem and on the whole this has become one of our most used appliances.

Oh and the slow cook option is quite a high heat compared to dedicated slow cookers, but it’s still ok.

Just when I said I wasn’t going to buy anything you go ahead and get me.

    • and yet no positive vote……username check out.

A fair point. Lets rectify that.

Cut and paste from choice magazine

    Good points

    • Very good for pressure cooking and cooking brown rice.
    • Excellent for high slow cooking performance.
    • Removable cord.
    • Cooking bowl, trivet, serving spoon, and rice measuring cup provided.
    • Comprehensive instructions with cooking guides and some recipes.
    • Easy clean non-stick light weight cooking bowl.
    • Soft touch sealed controls, with clear written labelling easy to clean.
    Bad points

    • Only OK for cooking jasmine rice.
    • Only high slow cook temperature setting.
    • Fiddly to clean lid, need to remove, clean and replace rubber seal and steam release mechanism after each use.
    • Unit can be difficult to store.
    • No handles to remove cooking bowl or to hold comfortably.
    • Only OK to clean valves and seals can be fiddly to clean.
    • Manual steam release, need to take care when releasing steam due to finger proximity to steam.
    • Limited surface area for searing larger cuts of meat.
    • Exterior temperatures can become dangerously hot.

    • Thanks for that!

    • Thank you. I’m inclined to cancel my order after reading the cons.

  • General question - would recipes designed for the instapot/other similar multicookers work the same in this?

    • +1

Yes, except where they blacken things on the bottom of their pots as this is none stick and just doesn’t do that in the same way.

      • You don't think you'd be able to saute in this one? That sucks.

        • You can saute, but in the InstantPot ones they seem to like burning things on to the bottom of it and 'scraping up the flavour' which you can't do in this one… personally I prefer this one.

          • @Pobman: Hmm ok, guess I'll find out soon enough, thanks!
