Nice price for what might be some of the best sub $100 noise cancelling headphones

I've had mine since this deal and they continue to impress me

Pros
-Super plush soft earmuffs
-great noise cancelling. Really helped with the engine noise on the last flight I took
-Great for bigheads

Cons
-Noise cancelling doesn't work with cable plugged in
-Doesn't clamp strongly so falls off if you tilt your head too forcefully.
-Not the most robust. Wouldn't take too much to break these I imagine
-Only comes in black. Other countries have pink&blue but they stooge us here

  • Had mine for ages, and like them a lot. Love the lack of clamping pressure - really makes them comfortable.

  • I placed an order for a Bose 700 just now. Wonder if I should cancel that order for this sub100 headphone

  • The Q45 is also on special, 30% off - reduced to $153.99.

    • Using the Q45 as we speak, haven't been this happy with a purchase for a long while - can recommend!

      • I returned mine. No matter what i tried they wouldn't work correctly with my nvidia shield. Once connected a video wouldn't play correctly on YouTube. It would just pause and in netflix it would just spin /buffer. Could not resolve but had no problem using with my Android phone.

        • Weird, currently using it with my Pixel 7 Pro and my Metabox laptop - have had no issues with both.

Can't find anything on the Net re: the Q45 not being compatible with the Shield either - need a firmware update maybe?

          • @kevinMario: Yeah I didn't find much either but there was definitely an issue with these which doesn't exist with my cheaper SoundSurge 90s or other headphones.

I also don't think the anc was that much better than my cheaper ss 90s and far worse than ny Mx5s.

1More Sonoflow the better buy, but hold out for new Bluetooth gear if you can, sound quality and battery life will jump thanks to LC3 & LC3Plus.

These are good. They are a bit prone to the inside plastic cover on the arm cracking, but Anker Australia sent out a replacement set when I ran into that issue.

That's true, I think all of them develop this issue over time.
Mine were affected after 11 months of heavy use. Got replacement but applied a zip ties fix to the old ones and still haven't opened the new box.
Also, earpads failed after ~22 months; got new from Aliexpress for $12 delivered.

Got a further $10 redemption and $5 cash back from cashrewards which brings the price $84 Great price for an exponentially good anc headphones

  • For future people looking at this headphone.

One MAJOR con with this is that ANC doesn't work when wired. In fact, you can't turn it on when wired so that when it is wired, it is purely dependent on the source when it comes to EQ setting, volume setting etc etc.

Apparently this is something that used to be supported but it has been changed with a newer firmware. (you can google this and there are a number of discussions on it if you want the details).

What this means is that if you're thinking of using it on the plane to connect to the plane's entertainment system (which is through wire 99% of the time), you won't have ANC.

Also, without the power, that means the audio from wired connection is pretty crap compared to bluetooth.

    • Thanks for thoughts. It's mentioned as a con in the OP

You can get bluetooth transmitters for ~$5 if you wanted to use the plane system. Not an ideal solution, but for the rare flyers it works

      • I think it's beyond just ANC. if that that the headphone won't be "powered" plugged in means the overall audio quality is much crappier when wired.

As for BT transmitter, most of the reviews I've read is that there will be latency so while that's probably OK if you're listening to music, it's probably not great when you're watching a movie.

Just wanna point this out for anyone who's considering getting these to use on the plane. Just kinda surprised with the decision/design.
