What's the advantage of having HDMI . I have an LG TV wall mounted, so this will go on a floor unit underneath and was considering this one but should I get something with HDMI (pass through presumably)?
Go HDMI if you can. Higher bandwidth so supports the latest Dolby digital and DTS formats (atmos). It also allows for arc (audio return channel) so you can control the soundbar volume with your tv remote. Soundbar also turns on automatically when you turn on TV as well (using CEC feature), won’t need to use soundbar remote unless changing soundbar settings, etc Also makes cabling a lot neater too as you only need one cable into the TV.
Of course, that’s providing your TV has a HDMI port that’s capable of ARC. Usually the port would say something like HDMI2(ARC).
There are probably other benefits using HDMI too but they’re the ones I know or from the top of my head.
Thanks, its this model

It does have eARC/ARC or so it says but only with LG audio or so the fine print #15 down the bottom of the specs page says ???
Yep. Most modern TVs have arc on one of their hdmi. Newer tvs will have earc.
Just picked one up last night. It’s the only one that’ll fit underneath my LG 42” C2 (without covering any of the picture on the panel) that also has a subwoofer. Just doesn’t have HDMI (arc) so will just use optical!
