Hi

I've been looking for a new ebike under $4000.

I see 99 Bikes has some bargains

Can anyone recommend the best bang for buck on that site?

Hi arcticmonkey, we have had the Velectrix Urban+ for over a year and it's still going strong. We charge it once a week for daily weekday commute of 6-7 km. Paid about $1,800 for it. The Multicycle Voyage EMI in your link does look good albeit with a higher price tag. In any case, I would suggest you try them in-person before deciding.

What is the intended purpose of the bike? Commute or recreation? Road or off-road?

Bikes are horses for courses - so bang for buck doesn't necessarily mean most confortable or efficient for your purpose.

    • Commute and recreation would be the main use. On road vs off road.

Pardon me for butting in but can I ask, what is wrong with this bike? The most demanding thing I would do is ride to the nearest towns 10km away and return on sealed roads. It seems cheap - $999. That's about how much it would cost me to get a Bafang conversion kit with battery.

It would help to know the torque rating. I know the disadvantages of a step-through frame.

I wish they would stop calling every bike with a step-through frame a ladies bike.

That would be fine for riding on flat/moderate hills. It will have enough power to get you to 25kph, however the biggest negative is the motor is in the front wheel.

I agree the Multicycle Voyage EMI linked looks good

There has been commentary here in the past about which kind of hub gears are problematic - can anyone confirm how that applies here?

    • Thanks. Do you have any links to the commentary on this?
