I have purchased the Sony 90 XL ( HDMI 2.1) it is connected to my NAD t778 AVR (HDMI 2.0). The new Sony has replaced my old one which was the 9000f model so I just swapped the TVs over and did not change any settings in the AVR . On setup everything worked perfectly the Sony recognise the AVR and the sound output was as it should be. I had turned the whole system on and off a few times and everything worked well then for some reason when I turn the TV on the AVR would not engage so no sound no matter what I did I could not get the AVR to turn on so I did a factory reset on the TV and everything started to work as it should. I am now onto my third factory reset because of the issues I am having between the AVR and TV.
I have no clue as to what is happening and need help because I cannot continue to factory reset this TV every couple of days.

Thanks for your time , i have done just that, unplugged twice now. I am running a 7.2 set up so optical is not ideal. I had zero issues with the old Sony so im really confused as to what is going on.
I assume you've replaced the HDMI cable (though since it works sometimes I wouldn't be confident saying that's the issue).
For me… nothing helped. Just one day decided to stop being shit. :(
Quick update , the L&R internal amplifiers were faulty so the NAD went into shut down mode for protection .
Might be a CEC issue. Try to unplug both the tv and avr for a while and turn them back on. This should reset any handshaking issues.
Short of that, CEC is a bit of a bitch. It might work, or it might not. My old setup (Sony X930E and Marantz NR1600) worked fine for a while, then just stopped. Nothing I did could fix it until it decided to work again. Never had an issue after that.
A lot of people just don't bother, and run an optical cable from TV to AVR. But depending on how many speakers you have running that might not be a good option for you.
