Ah Franco cozzoā€¦ the infamous ā€œBunnings wonā€™t honour the free Karcher deal you idiots stop wasting your timeā€. Wonder how much time you actually wasted posting comments on that one
Thankfully I didnā€™t listen to you and my free Karcher sweeper is going great šŸ‘Œ

      • I'm still salty like a seagull I didn't get my drone….

      • -2

karcher your arse off fixated person….like anyone cares. lol!

  • +2

@justindean whether it was your intention or not the resulting reality is still the fault/ responsibility of your business. To ask people not to post negative reviews based on the mentality "we made an oopsie whoopsie we are sorry" that is entirely the point of review sites. Every company is "sorry you had that experience" it is selfish to say this situation is different. you are still at fault for not filling the orders made that your website accepted and exchange was made. I don't believe information will be deleted either I made an account on your website to purchase, does that mean my account will be deleted?

    • +8

I don't believe information will be deleted

It wonā€™t be deleted no matter what @justinjdean says.

Seriously why would you trust a tech organisation to delete your information when they canā€™t even manage a promo code.

      • ….you should have more faith in their word! for it is the lord's word….

      • -2

What use do we have for your information, youā€™re not our target audience.

All orders in Shopify are deleted.

        • +1

Please tell me once you have deleted my data.

So far I can still see my information visible.

I hope you prove me wrong @justinjdean.

          • @HardQuiz: He cannot delete it fully,
just cannot its a business record meant to be kept for like 5-7 yrs or something like that.
Whatever he says we all know that is dog $h!t about deleting everything, - That is exactly why people are supposed to use fake details when giving out stuff for free.

        • The orders are deleted, yet I can still log in and see my cancelled order with my name and address?

You absolutely should scrub details of those with $0 orders. It'll be interesting to see how you handle those that need refunds. You can't exactly delete their details because you'll need evidence that they've been refunded if they dispute it.

  • +8

this crap seriously brings out the worst out of everything ozbargain….well done everyone.

@franco cozzo if can stack multiple discount codes, i say both kidneys !

  • +9

Yikes, this drama over some plain corporate clothes? Couldnā€™t it hurt for some of you guys to just go to an op shop and pick up some nice looking clothes for cheap (and the money goes to charity, at least for the local op shops and not Salvos or Vinnies) instead ofā€¦ this?

  • +1

Is this the first time we did not crash the servers? If so, I think they deserve the Ozbargain stress test āœ…. A very prestigious badge many have failed to earn.

It's powered by shoppify, not so easy

I got this response when I asked why my order was cancelled šŸ¤£

"Hi there. We apologize for the inconvenience. We did not submit this deal to OzBargain. It was submitted without our consent. While we love the enthusiasm for wanting to get free swag, we unfortunately cannot fulfill these orders. Over 8000 orders totaling nearly a million dollars US were submitted and we simply cannot fulfill them.

All orders have been cancelled and if you spent real money I assure you it will be refunded, just give us time to sort through all these orders.

We originally posted this offer on the new social network Threads, where we currently only have 50 followers. This was never meant to receive this kind of audience. This is our corporate swag store. We are not in the business of selling merchandise.

Your personal data will be deleted. It was never our intention to collect it in the first place, as we did not post the deal to OzBargain.

    We appreciate your understanding!"

    • Hey Mr Joker, your DM's are turned off.

  • +8

All the fools sitting and crying in the corner. Guys grow up. How foolish of you to think that they were going to fulfil these orders. You really thought they were going to send you $100 worth of free stuff from America?

    • They do have the option to send stuff to outside of America

  • +28

I didn't expect orders to get honored, but it's a bit weird to be blaming people for sharing the code.

You guys made a mistake for creating an open code like this. Non-unique codes with no caps are meant to be shared. That's the whole point. Even I know that, and I'm not even in marketing.

If you guys made a mistake that's fine, just say you made a mistake and leave it at that. But to claim that people are abusing it by posting the code on some site you haven't even heard of is really poor form.

FYI I never got a cancellation email, just in case it's something you are interested in (ie if something went wrong and all emails were not sent out)

    • +5

Yeah, they pretty much wrote a blank check and left it out for anyone. I know itā€™s an innocent mistake and Iā€™m fine with my order being cancelled. But whoever is in charge of their sales or promotions is not very bright.

    • +2

Code could have easily been spread to Twitter or Reddit

  • So who created this code and how the guy get exact information about the code (US$100 off Merch (No Minimum Spend) & Free Delivery). It hard to make me believe this is a mistake or coincidence.

    • Think about it; what benefit would we have for posting this code here and generating thousands of orders for free swag that costs us money and sent to people who are clearly not our targeted audience. The person who posted this here did so without our knowledge. They must have seen our post on our Threads account.

      • +1

I'm also thinking about why doesnt your ecommerce system doesnt have a section to delete my account and personal details.

      • +1

That's right, you should figure out who made the code to prevent the incident happen again. Shopify allows to create discount code with limited usage and conditions. I think you should utilize that feature.

    • we wanna know how OP got the code from

  • +3

@justinjdean, Thanks for explanation, and i hope people who left one star review can get a life and remove them.

  • +1

I'm with you OP. Honest mistake, ignore the haters. I'll give you a good review for being open and honest about the situation. If I was in your shoes I would be doing the exact same thing.

Order Cancelled on July 6, 2023 at X:XX am
    Reason: fraud

LOL.. Call yourself fraud tithely for collecting personal information.

    • +5

I'm going to hand my details over to a company and attempt to buy something that's very obviously an error and won't be honored. I don't think the store are the only stupid ones.

  • Forget about Deanā€™s hoodies we will never see, grab an honest Bonds hoodie for just $14 delivered: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/786163

    • Out of stock :(

      • They restocked several times. Did you get one?

  • as expected :(

  • +2

ahh I find this extremely funny, it was worth the laughs that's for sure

  • When will you issue refunds for the cancelled orders? I had two orders cancelled that I paid for but I received no cancelled order emails. Order history shows cancelled however. Credit card has no pending credit charges indicating refund has been initiated.

    • All refunds have been sent. Shopify says it takes 3-5 days to process.

  • -5

Your personal data will be deleted.

@justinjdean Since there is no exact date, would you be able to post a comment or send an email to confirm that you release all my/our data, thanks.

    • +2

You want them to email you, after they have deleted your account info, confirming they have deleted your info
      :/

Complaining about a Shopify store having your details, that you freely gave them, for what was clearly a 'hail Mary' deal most likely to never be delivered…well, I think you need to take a moment and think about how valuable you really consider your own info to be.

      • -2

First of all, I didn't say what I gave was real or fake. Second, some vulnerable people here did choose to trust OzB over this deal. Third, it's not our fault but their fault to create this loophole. Lastly, they promised to delete the data, so I want them to have a due date for that. Anything wrong or harmful?

Unless you have a better idea? or you just don't care?

        • The best option is to engage your brain. Sadly it seems like one you chose not to take.

          • @brendanm: Looks like you wrote a garbage comment. Could have spent time writing something related to the topic?

            • @bcYield: The topic is you not using your brain, common sense, or any critical thinking. So I am 100% on topic. Blame yourself for making a dumb decision.

              • -1

                @brendanm:

The topic is you not using your brain, common sense, or any critical thinking.

Are you trying to criticize all the 300+ original upvoters?

Blame yourself for making a dumb decision.

Since when I blamed myself for this?

Instead I suggested the dealer to give a solid promise that has a solid period which is beneficial for everyone here.

What else can you help rather than trying to "personal attack" or "name calling"? I guess no point wasting time on someone, who might not even get involved, has no clue of the topic. I hope you don't get reports from silly comments like this.

                  @bcYield:

Are you trying to criticize all the 300+ original upvoters?

No, as I'm sure most of them realised that they would not get the items, and they wouldn't cry about their email address being on a database.

Since when I blamed myself for this?

That's the point, you haven't, but you should be.

Instead I suggested the dealer to give a solid promise that has a solid period which is beneficial for everyone here.

Haha, yes, he can email you, after deleting your email address šŸ˜‚

There's no helping you, as you can't realise that you put yourself in this situation. I've personally signed up and ordered things that were obvious price errors, I simply didn't cry like a child when they didn't get delivered. I could not care less as to whether I get reports or not.

Even a kid can set an auto-response email lol maybe it's hard for you.

I could not care less as to whether I get reports or not.

Sounds like OzB is lucky enough to have someone like you

  • +7

I didn't order but looking at the situation…,

You need to put a limit on the next code to prevent this from happening and I know Shopify can set code limits.

It doesn't matter if someone found your code and post it on ozbargain without your consent, ozbargain is a free open forum.

It's up to you as a business to put the terms and conditions of the code.

You can't blame a customer posting the code, the fault is at your end for not protecting yourself.

I understand, crap happens but blaming the person posting the code isn't at fault, you are. Take responsibility, lesson learnt and be careful next time.

    • -3

Did he say "not to share" in his post? no?

  • +2

Orders still haven't been cancelled, can still access my account and view order with all my details.

    @justinjdean any update here?

  • +3

This is what they wrote in the response to trustpilot reviews:

Thousands of orders were for the same person using thousands of different email addresses.

Bad wording but actually it wouldn't surprise me if one of you degenerates wrote a script to do this šŸ˜‚

    • If there was such a person there is no evidence it was an ozbargain member who did that.

  • +3

I ordered some stickers to get to the $100 USD limit and they arrived today lol
