$15 Whole Chicken and Large Chips, Click & Collect Only @ Red Rooster

2100

More Xmas in July chicken deals, this time from Red Rooster. Don't forget to use your Rooster dollars if you have any to sweeten the deal even more.

In my experience, Red Rooster chicken is far superior in taste to the Coles/Woolies variety, but it can be on the small side. Still worth it at this price I reckon.

“The prices displayed are valid for today only”

…As always when Ordering any of their products!

It's just pointing out that offers & price may change. Price shown is valid for today, but may not be that price in future.

T&C of this $15 offer: min spend $10🤣

No rush! Still available in app & site 'today' at same price!

Expiry should be 12 July as this is part of the week 2 (of Christmas in July) offers, valid 6-12 July.

  • +2

If anybody grabs one, could you post back about the size. I appreciate Red Rooster chickens, but they just seem small compared to Woolworths/Coles, and quail-like compared to Costco.

    • +13

You think they are going to shrink the chickens for this deal?

    • You think you'll get a bigger chicken always? 🐔

  • +1

damn, got a pork leg roast in the oven atm….oh, well

    • pics or didnt happn

    • don't pretend you can cook

      • +1

lol, oh, I can cook. But love me a RR BBQ chook, esp when on special. I'll make do with scrounging the local chicken shop (used to be Red Lea) for their cold bbq chooks, they taste great and get two for $12 (was last time I got them anyway) just never know when they have some left over from the previous day that they don't need for their rice etc. Deboned, broken up and put in a clip lock bag for the freezer, for any use, any time….use it for wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, quick roast dinner etc.

    • porky no los dos

  • Will they cut into quarters on request?

    • +3

Yes, option is there for quarters, half or even eight pieces.

      • Awesome. I'm gonna get fowl tonight…

  • I used to love Red Rooster Chickens but in the past few years I have found them to be dry and tasteless, unfortunately. Or maybe it has been my bad luck each time I try?

    • Depends on how long they've been sitting in warmer or if just cooked I reckon

      • Yeah - no idea, unfortunately. But each to their own I guess. I remember them being moist and delicious to eat. Now they are dry and as soon as you get through the skin, no taste whatsoever.

  • -1

Spewing no Red Rooster near me. Not sure how accurate this is but a mate visited a chicken farm years back for work and said the chickens all start off the same size they just blow air into them to enlarge it

    • +19

If I had a mate as gullible as you I'd have a lot of fun

      • +2

Haha yeah not the first time I been called that

        • pehrpas they blowin sum else in em

        • +1

Just to clarify, cos I can relate to believing it lol. If that was the case the weight for all of them would be the same (as air isn't gonna add much weight) but that isn't the case. That said I have heard some places will add water to them or some chicken you buy is placed in a brine (salty water) that does add a bit of weight to the overall chicken and may cause it to be a bit more plump.

Overall though a small chicken won't become a big chicken through those methods.

          • +1

@lancesta: Red Rooster chickens are size 10 (1.0kg) pumped up to sIze 12 (1.2kg) with brine. When you see them raw. they are covered with maybe a dozen injection holes. It helps add flavour (salt) and keeps them moist during cooking.

            • @Doyen: Mad I've been brining my chicken lately and it's turned out awesome. I'll have to look into this more. It definitely helps them retain moisture when cooking (or at least taste less dry).

    • If that was true, every chicken would get enlarged as the initial investment into the equipment to do that would pay for itself quite quickly.

  • +3

bring back the chicken strips and stop serving this battered bullshit

    • +2

      whats battered? its roasted

      • Not the roast chicken

Talking about that crap they replaced the chicken strips with

    • I used to regularly grab a rippa sub for dinner. Rarely go to RR these days. Those battered tenders suck.

      • it's rubbish agreed

  • +4

is that a massive amount of chips or the smallest chicken in the world?

    • Both

  • how much is colesworth roastd chook now?

    • $12

      • $4-$7 on a deal but if can find one nowadays

        • what deal?

        • Haven't found any good marked down chooks in years…

Colesworths near me cook based on demand times. Most days, sold out before 3pm & no more are cooked.
Local Coles no longer have free chicken voucher if none available.

If find a chook that has been sitting for over 2-3 hrs, can try for reduced price - but have only got $3 max off.

          Besides, they're pretty dry!
          I prefer them just cooked😋
I check timer on oven to come back 15min after that

Christmas is observed primarily on December 25 not in July.

    • +1

I guess this is the woke Christmas

      • theres no xmas in KSA

      • +1

Christmas in July existed before woke did

  • Just to clarify. I have to spend $10 ontop of the $15, to get the deal? (Minimum spend $10)? $25 total?!

    • +2

No, you can get the deal for $15, no extra spend required.

  • They've also got the red burger back at $4! Yeah baby!

    • +1

Can only order one reds burger $4…

Still have to spend another $6 to be able to get it.
Cant get 3 burgers for $12 unfortunately

Can't stack the deals to get a burger with the chicken and chips either

      • It lets you checkout with just the $4 deal

        • Says minimum $10 spend on mine and can't check out for the $4 unfortunately

          • @Spending2Much: Try using google pay

            • @Mortin: Doesn't matter. Or didn't seem to.
Add the $4 reds burger only to the cart, can't check out…..
I will try again tomorrow, local store closed, so can't try now.
              Cheers

            • @Mortin: Works on the app, not on the website

              • @Spending2Much: Thanks. Told you

                • @Mortin: @Rakibul

Was able to place 2 seperate BBQ bacon burger orders for $5, (last week's app special) without the $10 minimum charge.

Trying to order the $5 Rippa roll, can't get the order to work, keeps coming up with the pop-up about 'oops minimum $10 spend'.

Not sure how I got it to work last two times, trying through the app and keeps getting rejected

  • +4

I'm reporting back. Got the deal for $15. Best chicken dinner I've had from a take-away place in a long time. Hervey Bay qld Reds hit it out of the park tonight! Chicken was moist & very barbeque-ee. Chips were fresh.

@billy_bob, im buying you a beer mate :')

    • I wish I was in Hervey Bay to have a beer with you, alas I am stuck in dreary Melbourne where we are struggling to reach double figures temperature.

  • +1

Don't forget cashback at Cash Rewards….
    3.5%

(Though not sure of they'll pay out of you use Red Royalty dollars to discount price paid?)

  • +2

The problem with Red Rooster is somehow their chicken looks like they were on a diet before they were killed.

  • Voucher doesn't work for Red Rooster Palmerston. Guessing the same for the other Darwin store

  • +3

Grabbed this tonight. the chicken was massive, way bigger than any ive goten from coles or woolworths. And was cooked perfectly.

  • How & where do you get the vouchers?. Thanks

    • In your Red Rooster app

Had this last night with dinner. Consensus from the family was that it was very similar to a supermarket chicken in size and taste, maybe a little bit juicer as it seemed like it had just been cooked

    • Just bought this for lunch. Can confirm, almost exactly the same as Coles/Woolies chicken, a tad more juicy.

      • -1

My experience with Coles and woolies chicken is that it's always overcooked, to the point that parts of the chicken are dry, particularly the wings which can just be all dry and stringy, almost like jerky. RR is way better when I am

        • My experience with Coles and woolies chicken is that it depends on which store & who is cooking. And how long you are buying after cooking.

Regularly eat RR & supermarket chooks.
A good supermarket chook can be better than RR… It depends.

I avoid 1 of the local Coles as is more steamed than roast. Seems a problem with that oven. Other local Coles have tasty chickens.

Always best to pick up soon after finished cooking. Sitting under heater can dry the chicken. Check time it was bagged!
Same at RR - when sitting too long at quiet time of day!

I check how long until cooking ends when enter supermarket, returning 10-15 after that - when are bagged.

Mainly go to RR for the FREE fried chicken!

  • itwas decent chook

i went with the hype here
