Gaming Laptop Recommendation Budget of 3-3.5k

Opinions about 3 different laptops

For context, my current laptop is an Alienware 13 R3 with a malfunctioning keyboard. Bought in 2018. Based in NSW.

My use case is gaming, playing titles such as World of Tanks and 4X strategy, and surfing/word-processing. Performance-wise, I have felt that contemporary games are harder and harder to play with my current setup. At home, laptop would be connected to 1 external monitor. I would also like to be able carry my laptop (e.g. to the library/cafe) and look very favorably on a laptop that I can power with USB C (even if at lower performance whilst on usb power).

I am currently looking at three different laptops, with comparable budget (3-3.5k with current deals).

  1. Metabox Aer-X (14inch, RTX 4070, 100W TGP, 8GB VRAM, 32G RAM): about 3cm shallower and 1kg lighter than my current laptop. Not much information about how it is cooled or even reviews, but it has good reviews as company. Claimed battery of up to 10h.

  2. Metabox Prime 16-S (16inch, RTX 4070, 140W TGP, 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM): about 3 cm wider and 300g heavier than current laptop. Has G-sync and vapor-cooling. No reviews. Claimed battery of up to 9h).

  3. Legion Pro 7i (16", Gen 8) (16inch, RTX 4070, 140W TGP, 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM): decent reviews. Also much more resources available in terms of disassembly and bigger company (i.e. more support and chance of updates to software).

Could I get some help with my conundrum?

    I'd go with Lenovo.

I'm 90% sure that Metabox is labeling laptops from Clevo. The Prime 16-S looks strikingly similar to the Clevo PE60RNE-G.

I've had a brief interaction with one laptop from Metabox, I can't recall the exact model but it was about 3 years ago. I remember being so disappointed when I saw the BIOS. It was barebone and basic and couldn't really configure much with it. Just from this I feel like the support from Metabox wouldn't match up with Lenovo.

I do have a Legion laptop myself and couldn't be more happy with, it's got good performance in a well packaged laptop.

Aside from the scandal where they discovered Lenovo was secretly monitoring your activity without your premission, and they denied it until it was publicly proven true, then admitted it, there are plenty of more reliable better-quality brands.

E.g.: In the 2k to 3k bracket (OP's budget) the business grade HPs are very solid.
