The Walking Dead is a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning comic book series. Play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety, protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell.

A continuing story of adventure horror spanning across 5 episodes:

  • Episode 1 – A New Day (Available Now)
  • Episode 2 – Starved for Help (Available Now)
  • Episode 3 – Long Road Ahead
  • Episode 4 – Around Every Corner
  • Episode 5 – No Time Left

Key Features:

  • Based on Robert Kirkman’s Eisner-Award winning comic book series, The Walking Dead allows gamers to experience the true horror of the zombie apocalypse

  • A tailored game experience – Live with the profound and lasting consequences of the decisions that you make in each episode. Your actions and choices will affect how your story plays out across the entire series.

  • Experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes

  • Meet Glenn before he heads to Atlanta, explore Hershel’s farm before Rick and his group of survivors arrive and before the barn becomes a notorious location in Walking Dead lore

  • You’ll be forced to make decisions that are not only difficult, but that will require you to make an almost immediate choice. There’s no time to ponder when the undead are pounding the door down!

  • Features meaningful decision-making, exploration, problem solving and a constant fight for survival in a world overrun by the undead

  • Artwork inspired by the original comic books

  • Played ep 1 was pretty cool, esp if your a fan of the series

  • How long does each 'season' take to play? I think I'd find it annoying to finish it in a few hours, I'd rather wait until they are all released (a season every what 3 months?) and come on sale (finished by next Steam Summer sales, u think?).

    • I've played Episode 1 on iOS and that took a good few hours to get through. Replay value is there too if you wanted to go back and see the result of different choices…

I think Telltale Games announced they would do a Season 2 due to the popularity, but hard to say what their overall plans are. Buy the Season Pass for season 1 now at 40% off and dont play it until they are all out if you dont want. Otherwise you're taking a gamble and hoping its cheaper in a future sale and that may or may not happen…

      • Sorry I said Season but meant Episodes. With the game broken up like this I would guess each 'epsisode' could be completed in about 2 hours or maybe less (tell me if I am wrong?).

Short single player games annoy me. I'm not happy with the move to basegame + DLC, and even though the walking dead isn't necessarily this - they do break it up for a reason, and it's not to be more like TV / comics - it's to get ongoing promotion every time they release a new 'episode'.

        • Yeah I'd say around 2hrs an episode. Like I said though, if you aren't keen to play them as 'episodes', then purchase now and play when all are out.

Reviews of episode 3 are popping up now so that can be far out if it isn't there already (I don't have this on steam myself to tell).

And I think you're kinda right with the episodic style; but I think both your points are right. Yeah they can keep pushing out promos every time they bring out a new ep and suck some more buyers in, but the episodic style is good too because yes, it is based off a tv show/comic. You play one episode and then you anxiously await the next one, same as a TV show or comic would be. It's playing on that sence of excitedly awaiting the next chapter…

If they released it all in one go it would be next year, the episodes are being made still, it's not like DLC shipped on a disc (like Batman AC).

        • Personally I think the episodic format is great. The pilot can work as a paid demo, allowing people to see if they intend to get more, the developers can fix problems with each new release allowing greater community support and the pricing is always nice over the months its takes for each release.
Of course, this is Telltale games here. They use a 10 year old engine that is showing its age, annoying bugs, badly compressed audio and unusual design issues that don't always work.
But at least they deliver their episodic content, unlike you know who…

  • This game is really good.

This is the must play game of 2012 and I wouldn't expect the final episode to come out until 2013.

Good price and Telltale really deserve your support. They're single-handedly keeping traditional adventure games AND episodic distribution alive.
Walking Dead isn't exactly traditional adventure, it has something of the feel of those mid-90's Full Motion Video Games, a little bit of Heavy Rain's Quick Time Events and some traditional puzzling.
I don't love the puzzling in this game, but I do love the art style, story and general atmosphere.
The best puzzles obey the golfing maxim of "Looks hard, plays easy" - The solution is apparent, but it still makes you feel smart for having figured it out. None of Walking Dead's puzzles have risen to that level, but I'm holding out hope - Their Back to the Future games were loaded with great puzzles.

    • Hey man! Don't forget Valve and their half life episo-

      Bahaha. Couldnt finish that.

I really liked how Telltale did "Back To The Future". So I am definitely getting this! Love TWD
