    • Zinger popcorn?

  • +23

Will reserve my vote for whether people can actually get the deal…

    • +12

haha ikr - I'm hoping they've learnt their lesson! If not, I'd say ban KFC store from OzB. I know for a fact they really profited on Sat by getting customers into their store, not honoring the $1 deal, and getting them to spend higher on other menu items. Waiting for a response from KFC otherwise it qualifies for an ACCC complaint.

      • +1

Was this anything more than their servers shitting the bed? Not going to read 9 pages on the other deal.

        • +3

Probably, some are claiming it was deliberate but there was probably massive demand for $1 burgers.
Some stores honoured it in store, others denied it.

        • +1

I did and it was mainly comments to neg the deal. Seemed like it was the app dying for the whole promo period until the last 20-40 minutes in WA which is when you got a bunch of people showing off they live in the best state

          • @SpainKing:

WA which is when you got a bunch of people showing off they live in the best state

We need to take this to the ombudsman solely because of this.

        • Probably not, but if the same thing happens every time they host a major sale offer (which does happen for KFC), then it is entirely predictable that they will not be able to honour the promotion.

  • +5

It's a waste of time trying to claim, could not claim the burgers on Saturday after multiple clicks.

    • +10

ik ik - but I'll give them the benefit of doubt given it was Day1. Yesterday the app seemed to work fine for the 30 nuggets although I didn't buy since it was poor value if you can air fry or oven bake the same at home for less than half of KFC's promo price. Just shows how overpriced Maccas & KFC nuggs are!

  • People do realise there was one yesterday that worked completely fine

    • +13

I don't think $10 for nuggets was nearly as popular and server-demanding than the $1 burger would have been

      • +17

In comparison, imagine how Maccas managed to supply $1 McChicken in its past promos. Hats off to Maccas for pulling that off flawlessly.

        • +1

Yeah, KFC servers were quite poop on Saturday. Must be the new app, because I remember their promotions working fine enough the previous years

        • Mcdonalds is a great example of how to scale a business.

        • Operations management on point… order $1 mcchicken and less than 3 minute wait, with order number 20 from first call out. They were hammering out the specials.

          Great scaling operation.

  • I went for the Xmas Feast on Saturday night without any problems.

  • +1

The old add on hack for chicken pieces doesn’t work anymore?

    • +2

No they fixed/got rid of that hack, grrr, well less business for them from me so all good.

      • +3

Im devastated… guess I'll eat healthier.

      • +2

It is fixed on the app but the in store touchscreen kiosks will still let you do the add on hack.

    • +1

It does work, but you have to use the in store kiosk to do it.

      • +1

        Thanks for the tip

  • If the app works for this one I wonder if I'll be able to edit the burger, get rid of the corn chips and slaw and get lettuce instead.

    • +2

yes you WILL be able, subject to the app/server not crashing at 3pm. Removing the slaw and corn chips will degrade this to a normal zinger burger. Although you might wanna remove slaw and load up on lettuce instead.

  • +2

why would anyone upvote this before 3?

    • +1

Preparation — we need time for all OzBargainers to assemble. Visibility is everything

    • +1

Just be patient, ik they wronged us on Sat, but things should be alright in later days

      • Companys average cost a hundred to get a new customer by ads or promotion and don't even need to download the app also waste about 10 mins just trying to log in on 1st,not going to try the luck and deleted the app already.
If anyone have that much of time like to try may just buy the Taylor Swift's ticket and resell it to get self time worth.

    • +3

KFC has been around in Australia since 1968.

You're calling them a scam company because you couldn't get $1 burger? They clearly underestimated the number of ozb users/advertising for the promotion and servers were overwhelmed for the 1st day of promotion.

Companys average cost a hundred to get a new customer by ads or promotion and don't even need to download the app also waste about 10 mins just trying to log in on 1st,not going to try the luck and deleted the app already.

You think they got new customers from people not being able to use the app for any purchases? They would also have lost sales from regular users who wanted to use the app to buy something during that time too.

      • There only some people live in WA who get burger, also big company doesn't mean it isn't scam company

        • +3

Scam is by definition illegal criminal activity. Have you reported KFC to the police yet?

          • @illusion99: Scam is by definition from oxford,(noun)a clever and dishonest plan for making money or(verb) to cheat somebody in order to get something, especially money, from them.
Dont know where you definition is coming from but… for English I trust English

            • +3

@yuisakas: You pasted a definition and you still somehow didn't absorb it lol

              • @DiscountForThee: I understand some people have logic problem, you are trying to say they just want me to download the app and I didn't lose single cent, right?

                • +1

                  @yuisakas:

                  plan

Do you believe that KFC intentionally withheld the burgers from people? That they ran this promotion without ever intending to honour the deal (despite honouring these deals dozens of times in the past)?

Do you have proof of this? Because if you do, ACCC would probably love to hear it. If you have no proof then… where is your definition fitting into the word "scam"?

                  • @DiscountForThee: I dont know KFC intentionally withheld the burgers or not so do you,all I know there only few live in WA get the burgers,Im not sure how many people tried but I assume more than thousands easily, also you said"despite honouring these deals dozens of times in the past" I don't know any of the $1 dollar deal in the past even it has it looks like Ponzi scheme.

                    • +4

                      @yuisakas:

I dont know KFC intentionally withheld the burgers

Wow, sure sounds like you are confident about it being a scam!

I don't know any of the $1 dollar deal in the past

Wow, sure sounds like you are well informed in KFC promotions and their history!

                      it looks like Ponzi scheme

You're being very creative with some definitions so I might need some help with this one, too - how is a Ponzi scheme related to a failed server demand for a… $1 burger?

                      • @DiscountForThee: I know some people have logic problem Im saying even you got $1 burger 10000 times before doesn't means it is not a scam. And yes for me and many who downloaded the app on 1st July thats a scam does it clear for you? Also I didn't know KFC have internet commentator or you just do it for free?
PS:failed server demand ?From the comments people went in store but can't get the burger as well

                        • +6

@yuisakas: Please just uninstall the app. I feel sorry for any retail staff who have to deal with you.

                          • -2

@CodeXD: Yes,did on 1st,just dont want people waste their time,I said beware if people trust them and many did, went to store got nothing

                        • +1

@yuisakas: Not sure if you're 11 or just a disgruntled boomer, but you're not making a lot of sense nor are you understanding many of the words you're trying to use. I'm sorry :(

            • @yuisakas: Again have you reported this to the police? If not why not?

      • If you don't log in,you still can buy whatever you want, just the burger not $1 but regular price

    • +1

There's still time to delete this.

  • +18

How didn't they redo the first-day deal that no one benefited from?

  • +1

Known scam company be very careful, they didn’t let me have a $1 zinger burger!

  • +2

    So many entitled customers

    • +4

      Entitled attempted customers.

    • +5

They got all the publicity in the media about selling $1 Zingers without actually having to follow through.

      • +3

plus they made good money by upselling higher priced items to customers who arrived at their door.

      • +1

Does KFC need any more publicity,
after their "shut up & take my $" commercials
everywhere on TV and online ?

( That line was famous from Futurama's "eye phone" episode )

      • I got the 1 dollar zinger last….

    • +4

      Re:

      'So many entitled customers'

Fancy customers feeling entitled to something that was advertised prominently for days in advance by the company on social media, in-store, and on their app; many of whom would have made a special trip to the place to avail themselves of the advertised deal.

    • Companys average cost a hundred to get a new customer by ads or promotions and don't even need to download the app.
But there always have cheap people don't value their time and think company doing charity for beggers

    • +2

Isn't it illegal to not honour an advertised price as long as it's not a price error?

      • Yes,it is illegal but they do have $1 burger you can add to cart but you can't buy, thats it.

  • +4

Maybe we'll get to see some Aussie riot in action if they stuff it up for the 2nd time

  • I guess KFC IT will be getting more budget this FY, they couldnt handle OZbargainers

    • they couldnt handle "Professionals"…
Hardly Normals go KFC too. :P

  • +4

I didnt get the $1 zinger. Not sure if I want to ever get anything from these guys again.

    • do you promise to never buy anything from kfc every again?

      • +4

        They won't. They're too chicken

  • +1

Can you place the order between 3-5pm and pickup later?

    • +5

Yes, just needs to be same day/before store closes.

      • easy, cheers

        • +2

@kehuehue - online ordering is disabled 30mins prior to store closing hours so keep that in mind and adjust 30mins.

    • +3

Yes, but remember you MUST check-in 30mins prior to your store closing hours. E.g if your store closes at 6pm, you will have to check-in by 5.29pm and arrive there before 6pm. Note: your food will be getting cold between 5.29 to the time you actually arrive.

      • Do you know what happens if I do not check-in on the same day? Will it just refund overnight or can I still check in next day for pick up?

      • you are correct although my local kfc is being sly because even though they close at 10pm and i have until 9:30pm to put the order, i've recently found out that they are closing by 9pm and not accepting any orders or anyone in the shop even though the app allows you to order till 9:30pm.

I requested for a refund from KFC but i also went back the next day to get them to give my order lol

    3-5pm is super awkward timing

    • +1

it's smart on their part cause it's post lunch and pre dinner, at a time when people are leaving work to go home as well. you'd really have to be desperate or wfh to take out the time to claim these deals :P

      • You can add promo items to your cart and make the purchase. Then during dinner, you go to kfc and actually check-in on the app and that is when they start making it.

So you can still get it fresh during dinner time if you managed to check out.

        • in my experience any order made in the evening are just re-heated from earlier. it's probably a my local KFC thing but I avoid ordering after 5pm

          • @deathjr: Doubt it, surely they would not eben receive the order on POS until you click check-in.

Probably just a rubbish store with minimal traffic.

    • +1

They’re forcing intermittent fasting onto their customers.

  • Ok offer, but only being able to get it after 3pm is kind of inconvenient for a just-ok offer

  • They had a $1 twister promo which I got last year but I think it was until sold out(not sure how they know) better than squishing the whole country into 2 hours! Of course there's gonna be a good chance the server crashes!

  • Did anyone even get the first offer?
