Rocks and stones may break my bones but beer will never hurt me

Hey min specs actually allow my PC (only just) . That's a nice change.

    • Yeah it's got this beautiful low-polygon aesthetic which must contribute to the lower spec req

  • -4

It's really repetitive. Good for one or two game nights with friends but that's about it.

Got more out of Valheim or The Forest.

    • +3

Those two games are an entirely different genre.

      • -5

        They're not. Coop multiplayer

        • +2

          so Forthnight then?

        • -1

So you'd classify 'Deep Rock Galactic' in the same category as 'Virtual Bukkake' because they're both coop multiplayer?

          • -2

@Karl Pilkington: It was boring as (profanity) for a game to play with mates, thats my review.

  • Deep Rock Galactic or Valheim ?

    • If you have friends to play with? DRG x100.

We're up to a few thousand hours now.

Think minecraft style gameplay, but instead of building, you're hunting quest objects and defending each other from attack.

The levels are generated from a seed, never the same, and you can totally ignore the terrain and dig your own paths if you wish.

The enemies are creative, and the dev's release new stuff for free semi regularly.

As you imagine, most of this isnt great single player, but with friends, its a nonstop laugh and co-op battle fest.

      …both :)

If you are playing solo, AND like building/crafting, then Valheim. (Can get a lot of hours out of building bases)
DRG is actually pretty good playing with randoms, and you can play singleplayer.

Both games excel when playing multiplayer however.
A group of us played Valheim again recently and had a server set up and modded, but we are back to DRG again now the bosses are done in Valheim.

    • Really hard question, very different games. If you're playing solo I'd probably say drg as you can play solo or join games easily.

If you have friends who would commit then I'd say valheim but you'd really need a dedicated server imo.

I can't state enough how different they are though. Ones a mission based fps mining/monster shooting game the other is a survival/exploration/building game. Valheim swallowed my life briefly and I'm not a fan of the genre at all. I wouldn't say it was any fun at all solo though, really needs a team effort.

  • can you connect to random people to play or do you have to have the ID of a friend to play with them?

    • +1

You can randomly connect or if you play yourself leave your game open and randoms will pop in OR you can play solo which limits it to just you and a helpful robot ai.

      • +2

I have to add, sometimes the robot AI is better than the other random you join so I strongly recommend getting your friends to play with you as well.
