This is my first post here so i am not sure if this would be something everyone is interested in, but i found this online while looking at beds on Forty Winks website.
Seems they are running a competition for Kids at the moment as well.

It states full priced items only … if you cant haggle a better deal in these outlets you really shouldnt be allowed out shopping ;-)
Surely you can haggle at Forty Winks. I bought a bed (king single) and three mattresses (king single, double and queen) and got a heavy discount on them.
You can pretty much buy your mattresses everywhere so they won't want to lose you as a business.
I am a casual salesman at Fortywinks (full time uni student)…. PW2002au, you're absolutely right, you can always get a better deal then RRP unless you are wanting 4yrs interest free…. and if you miss this sale, there is always another one right round the corner… so don't think that this is the only time u can get a good offer…
If you have any Q's about bedding or Forty Winks, I'm your inside guy…
Wow you'are like God sent (that's what your nick means right). I've been wondering a lot about Fortywinks Flexgel. Can you tell me about it inside out, is what the ads say as good as it is compared to other bed's material? How is it in term of durability? I tried once, I like the Flexgel 2000 but I'm skeptical about the product since it's new for me.
Haha. good to see someone who knows Indo. There is a fantastic website that is dicated to Flexgel and all about it. I would recommend going to it as the website would explain so much more than what I can… http://www.flexgel.com.au/
However I will give a breif explanation. There are 3 ranges within the Flexgel product. the Flexgel 1000, 2000 and 3000. This is what is in each Mattress,
1000: Flexgel and High Quality Foam.
2000: Flexgel and top of the range spring system by AH Beard or King Koil as is commonly known (the manufature of flexgel).
3000: Flexgel and High Quality Natural Latex.
Each Mattress has a different feel, the 1000 is the firmest. The 2000 has a spring system inside for those that like the feel of a spring system as appose to foam or latex. the 3000 is quite soft. (I do believe though that they are soon to bring out two different feels within the 3000 range) A firm feel incorporating a firm latex core and the softer feel with a softer latex core (The current model).
Flexgel has been medically proven to cure and help relieve so many different medical conditions that no other product can offer. (the website explains this in more detail under health benefits.)
The major benefits that Flexgel has over most other products is 1. Pressure relief on muscles and bones. 2. Minimal Partner disturbance is just as good as a full latex Mattress. Some people don't like full latex because of the Heat, Each Flexgel mattress has little pockets that when compresed (lying down, moving etc) lets out little amounts of cool air to help maintain the tempreture of the mattress. So never getting hot like a Full latex Mattress might. 3. The durability of Flexgel will outlast any innerspring Mattress. Each Mattress comes with a full 10yr Gurrantee, however I would be confident in saying that you would get at least 20yrs. In the Flexgel 2000 Mattress that you are looking at, because of the spring system, you wouldn't get as long a life span as say the 3000. But most people say that you should look at replacing your mattress every 12-15yrs.
I personally have a full latex Ensemble and yes it gets warmer in summer. I bought it just before this new range of Flexgel came out and although I love my Latex Mattress, The flexgel is really nice to sleep on (come on we have to product test, right!) lol.
Flexgel has actually been around for more than 2yrs. When it first was brought out, the marketing people did a poor job as they didn't make the mattress the way it is now. So naturally it failed. The make up of this flexgel was still the same, but what was inside with it just didn't compliment the flexgel, as partner disturbance was very bad, you could hear noises when you rolled. little annoying things like that. They have completely revamped it and turned it into the superior mattress it is now.
Having said all that, My advice to you is go with what you feel most comfortable in. There is no one same mattress, as Manufactures make different ranges for different retailers. However, in regards to flexgel, AH Beard have exclusively given Forty Winks the rights to sell it, and it has sold like hot cakes! Continue to try different mattresses you would like, don't be afraid to get a salesperson to help you. I know that sometimes they can be a bit pushy. I pride myself on getting as many people as I can that I serve to say that I don't seem like a normal salesperson (because I am not, I am a full time student) I don't like pushy people myself, so I give the knowledge that I know and leave the ultimate decision up to the customer, I know that it is a lot of money and it may take some time to be ready to spend that sort of money, So basically I treat customers the way I like to be treated, as if I was in an electrical store or something like that.
Try different Mattresses at other Retailer stores, I recommend that you only stick to well recognised retailers like Winks, Snooze and Harvey Norman. Becuase they have well backed products. Now I am not one to bag any other retailer and this is not my intention here, only to save you time and potential money in the long run. I would steer away from your factory outlets, not because I know anything about there products, because I don't, but because there is not a week that goes by (I have been at forty winks now for over 4yrs) where I get a customer that comes in and wants to buy a new mattress and I ask how was there other one and they tell me there sad story of going to a factory outlet type place and thinking that they were getting a great deal to only find that the product they thought was top of the range and fantastic was actually no good at all. For example, I had one customer just the other week who came in and indicated that they bought a top of the range innerspring mattress with a nice soft pillow top which had a 10yr warranty. After only 8 months of sleeping on it, they had very large body impressions on the mattress (Body impressions is normal in a mattress and will occur on any pollow top mattress) but the difference was that it had clearly gone way past the point of comfortability, as she indicated that it had sunk more then 5 inches deep, which is huge. I then explained that should have been covered under warranty as that is just rediculous, she then said that they didn't and didn't want anything to do with her or even help her out. She was told that that is normal and is within there regulations of the warranty.
Anyway, I have babbled on enough now. I am at work again this thursday so I can help you out as to what price you should be able to get, depending on which store you buy it from, as the different states may have different pricing. But from a QLD point of view I'll be able to help and I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a difference. Tell me what Size you are after and if it is the Ensemble or just Mattress you are looking at getting….
I hope that helps and that I haven't confused you at all… Remember, go to the website.
Dude, first you make me more confident about my choice on Flexgel, second you make me want to be a salesman as well, cos I like helping and serving people that's why I'm in Intercontinental Hotel now =D I'm wondering how would I know if a retailer is factory outlets or not. There's one in WA called http://bedtek.com.au/about.html what do you think about that store?
Well my concern is because I know nothing about bed technology (the bed I sleep on now is more than 15 years old and I can assure you about its noise and stiffness), I heard latex but have no clue about its performance so I really don't know which mattress would should me better. And anyone does tell to try them on at least 15 minutes sleeping on each side, but how about durability itself like the example you gave, the mattress start losing its quality after only 8 months or I read reviews about Simmons Beauty Rest mattress losing its spring action performance after 2 years and Simmons didn't honour about warranty. In this case which brand of mattress have good quality and reputation.
Thank you for explaining the different in flexgel, so far I thought the difference in flexgel is its stiffness of the gel, didn't know they have difference mechanisms too. I'm looking for a mattress with quality, so at the moment price isn't really my priority/concern. But of course I won't overlook better deals or discounts ^-^
If I am to get Flexgel, I'll get it from Fortywinks Myaree, WA, as it's only across where I live and maybe I'll get a bedframe instead of with ensemble, I'm also looking for a folding bed. I had bad experience with that store though, when I went there I was greeted with a salesperson and I told him my needs and asked for his expertise, he said that he only worked there for 2 weeks (big big mistake for a salesman to say that) , so I asked him for another salesman with experience and eventhough I saw another one serving a customer with great knowledge and detail, this new salesman refused to get me the other salesman. He said if I go with someone else he won't have chance to learn, I thought what-the-fudge? who cares about his getting experience or not, I was about to spend thousand of dollars here and he wanted me to be his guinea pig. But I just followed him cos I wanted to try some mattress but had no intention about making further deal. And all along he said things that I already know, especially about trying it and find what you feel most comfortable.
@mysrh: Ok… You tell me what you are wanting to get and I'll post what price you should be able to get…
I don't know anything about that retailer… When I said stick to your major retailers, I meant Forty Winks, Snooze, Harvey Norman, Freedom, Myer and David Jones… most other retailers (like Factory Outlets) sell a cheaper and more often then not inferior quality mattress claiming that they sell there mattress far cheaper cause they cut out the middle man.. This is not the Full truth, they cut out the quality as well…
We purchased a FGel 3000 about 4 months ago and its the most comfy bed we have ever slept on. Before this we had a Sealy "Sapphire" king and after less than 6 months massive body indentations had appered leaving a mountain size ridge in the center,Sealy advised this was the norm in a pillow top and didnt realy want to know.
So any way thats now the guest bed and we are styling on the FlexGel.
Great ;-)
I am going to buy a Queen Tempur mattress (Deluxe 22cm HD) from forty winks (or Harvey).
Do you recommend it ? Is there something same quality but bit cheaper ?
Is it possible to negotiate the price ? by how much you reckon ?
Thanks a LOT
Deck
I sleep on a tempur 22cm if you wanna ask any questions about it feel free to msn me on [email protected]
There are different Depths in the Tempur Mattress. Yes the quality is second to none to any other Memory Foam type Mattress (that is basically what Tempur is) However, It is something you either love or you hate… Me Personally, I don't like the feel as it feels far to dense for my liking. But that doesn't mean it is bad… If you love the feel, get it… when I am at work tomorrow I will also find out the pricing for you… I think there are particular sizes exculsive to Forty Winks, like 17cm or something around that… The store that I work in doesn't stock any Tempur mattress, but I have layed on them before…
There is a cheaper quality Mattress in that type of feel.. It is called the Memo-mat by BBC… They are no where near as good a quality as the Tempur but gives the exact same feel almost for less then half the price. The Memo-Mat's sell for around $1200 in the Queen size matt, however you should be able to get it for about $999… I know this becuase we use to stock this Mattress on our floor. Once again, go for whatever you feel most comfortable in…
I'll check out the different prices for you in each tempur Mattress and post it here tomorrow night when I am at work.
Thanks a lot Tuhan
I called them a got $3450 for the queen Deluxe HD 22cm and $200-$300 per pillow (can I get the pillow for free ?)
I have also asked for electric bed Superflex $2100 (flexislat is $1100 but need a base) each and $2250 for each single long mattress
they were not aware of the voucher 20$for each 100 spent
Thanks again.
Which store were you at that was not aware of the voucher???
I just finished writting out this huge email for you of prices and the iternet stuffed up here at work!!! So now I have to write it again… In short Hand Writting….
OK,
Tempur Queen Deluxe 22cm $3300.
SuperFlex Electric bed $2098. (So $2100 is a good price.)
Flexislat $1050.
Each Single Long Matt $2150.
As I said earlier Forty Winks also has the 17cm Tempur Delxue Matt available, which is exclusive to 40ty winks. It is a bit cheaper if you wanted to save some money, Normally sells for $3200 but can be got fot at least $2700…
In regards to the Tempur Pillow, if you get those prices as I said above you would be pushing your luck to get a free pillow as they are very expensive… But it never hurts to ask… Sometimes Tempur have special Promo's where if you buy a mattress you get two free pillows, but that is usually when you pay close to full price… But give it a go…
In regards to the $20 off for each $100 spent, I asked my boss and he said that is for Kids furniture only…
If you want any other info about forty winks products or just to know if you are getting a good price, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
Tuhan. (I cant give my real name for obvious reasons, lol)
@CrocDundee: The $20 off is def not just for kids furniture its on everything in store. and the 17cm is exclusive to Forty Winks but it is currently a clearance model so you can get it cheaper than the $2700 you are speaking of Tuhan.
Maybe a memo might need to be sent out again to the brisbane stores to notify all your staff about the promotion, or Jim K to let you all know
@Gazball: Haha, so I take it you are someone from Forty Winks aswell… lol. And to know that Jim is our state 'rep', you would have to be either from QLD or someone pretty high up in the ranks… I didn't hear about the promo, and when I asked my boss, he said that it was only to do with Kids stuff, so he must not be fully informed or I didn't take in the whole story…
Yes, if the Tempur mattress is on the floor and a particular store was wanting to clear it off you might get a better price however, if you were to buy one brand new, that is the round about price to get one…
Tempur are getting ready to bring out a newer exclusive range for fortywinks… I don't know too much about it, but should be pretty good.
@CrocDundee: i am not from QLD put it that way.
Tempur are running the 17cm out at cheaper than normal so you can get a discount off them atm (but the 22cm is still the best model)
New Tempur Range
STAY TUNED COMING TO A FORTY WINKS STORE NEAR YOU EARLY DECEMBER
Guys, if there's new promotion coming, please let us people in OzBargain know :)
May I know what would be the disadvantage with FlexGel, I mean like other mattress such as memory foam one, it produces more heat, this doesn't happen with FlexGel AFAIK, is there anything I need to know more?
You cant go wrong with the flexgel, as long as its Flexgel as there is lots of immatations at other stores that are not breathable.
Oh i forgot to mention about the flexgel Fly Free promo if you purchase Double Queen or King Mattress or Ensemble you will receive 2 return tickets to selected destinations.
I am not sure where the Perth ones are but for example
Melbourne is your selection of
Gold Coast, Adelaide, Launceston, Hobart.
Hey Forty Winks guys, I have just seen the Tenterfield Queen bed suite on the Forty Winks website, can you give me an idea of price? only after the bed and I like the lighter colour wood and the storage drawers so if there is similar that is better value? Are they good quality beds? Thank you in advance.
Tenterfield QS bed with draws is as of Monday going up in price which is the price below so if you were after one i would suggest ordering b4 then, the following prices is the Vic price which is a little more because of freight $1499 QS bed $629 extra if you are wanting the addition setup for the under bed draws, it will be cheaper in Sydney though as they are based in nsw.
Personally i don't like selling their stuff as i have had a couple of problems with their products in the past, BUT you will always get a couple of problems of every supplier over the yrs
The tentefield has been one of our most popular selling beds, and have not had any problems that i can remember… But yes like you said Gazball, you will always get a problem or two every now and again from any supplier…
So where can I find more info/specs about this Tenterfield matress? It's a mattress, isn't it?
@mysrh: The one I am talking about is a Queen size bed… not a mattress.
Gazball or Tuhan, I'm looking for a folding bed for an extra bed, can recommend me any ones with quality?
Nice find! It's a maximum of 20% off! I wonder whether you can bargain with the salesman and then use this. :)
