Needing an Opinion on a Decent Keyboard for Gaming

My current G613 Wireless by logitech is on its way out, keys keep double pressing when I type and this is a known issue. There really doesnt seem like a massive amount on sale out there for EOFY and I like keeping my keyboards in that 100-200 dollar price range. It doesnt have to be wireless just not total shit for gaming. Does anyone have any recommendations?

EDIT: Thanks for all the input guys. I picked up a Keychron V1 with their Red switches and this thing is insanely impressive. It has all the keys I want to have and gaming has become much more comfortable. Plus I can swap Switches and key-caps eventually.

It's a very subjective thing and people will have preferences on all sorts of details from type of key switches to key caps to keyboard size, numpad or not, additional macro buttons, added multimedia functions etc.

You'll want to narrow down what you personally prefer. I'm quite partial to Corsair keyboards even though don't use anything else from them. Others will differ vastly.

Needing an Opinion on a Decent Keyboard

    Yamaha PSR-E373 is excellent.

Yamaha is easily my favourite music instrument \ superbike company.

    • are the keys weighted?

      +1.

Also just keep a MX Keys Mini at the office? That's what I do.

Of course you also have to get the MX Master 3S

  • The good ole Logitech G910, the sharper edges and sunken middle of the keys almost ensures you don't mash multiple keys before you die in game :P

  • I purchased Logitech MK850 keyboard and mouse combo.
    Around $115 on Amazon Australia.
It has the ability to pair with 3 different devices via 3 buttons.
I use it on my iMac, PC and Swann security. Simply press the 3 way button and it pairs within seconds.
    I highly recommend.

Can vouch for Keychron. Q1 would be my pick.

      +1 for keychron.

I've used a K6 and now a Q2. Both have been pretty good boards.

    • I went Keychron V1 for budgetary reasons but I am in love with this thing

  • the whole mechanical keyboard craze seemed to swell up from early lockdown and then peaked just near the end of lockdown to 2022. I noticed many of the bigger online pc retailers went in hard with stock, stocking some perviously somewhat niche brands, only to discount all their keyboards about end of 2022.

But there are still a few bargains to be had.

I'm not familiar with the G613 Wireless , but a quick online search shows me it's full sized.

    Whaddabout a cherry keyboard?

  • Was rocking a Ducky One SL before I tipped a glass of water in to it. Now on a Razer Huntsman 60%. Would recommend either.

    • I was nearly sold on the Razer but lack of arrow keys is a let down

If you use a Mac, Apple keyboards are surprisingly good.

    • Yeah I use a wired one on my PC, has numpad. If it broke I'd probably buy the new wireless one with numpad even though it's stupid amount of money, but some people pay more for mechanical keyboards.

    • I personally like the Mac keyboard better than the Logitech MX keys.

  • Had the same issues with G613. I would recommend my current one G915, no double typing issues for me with this one. Has G613 warranty expired?

    • Yeah I’ve had it for like four years now and it’s the second one I’ve had that’s done it within that window

  • Have a look at Keychron or Epomaker, quite a few good options within your price range.

  • It doesnt have to be wireless just not total shit for gaming. Does anyone have any recommendations?

As long as it's got NKRO (which just about anything that is not crap will have) then everything else is personal preference. As brands go, I think Keychron has some good options which are not terribly priced.

  • Very subjective and I've personally bought multiple gaming keyboards just to find the right one for my needs. I don't game, but enjoy the features of gaming keyboards for better typing experience and productivity.

I've settled on a Blackwidow V3 Pro with Yellow switches and a mix of Corsair and Razer PBT keycaps (mixed sets because Corsair bottom row are irregular in width). Has been on sale at Amazon for ~$160 which I think is a great price - I thought it was already a good deal at $190. It would be perfect if it had an extra row of macro keys.

For the office I'd recommend a Logitech MX Keys/MX Keys Mini since this has a good feel for a scissor switch keyboard (though the best IMHO would still be the old diNovo Edge).

The Kogan wired rainbow coloured LED mechanical keyboards are excellent value for money. The TKL version can be had for as low as AUD$20 and you get a choice of brown or blue switches at those prices. The firmware is solid and I've had these in continuous use for more than two years with zero issues.

If you want wireless, I can recommend the Ajazz K870T range. There are several models/variants, including tri-mode and hot-swap. The dual-mode (Bluetooth 3 & USB-C), non hot-swap version can be had for as low as ~AUD$70 delivered when on sale at Temu. I really like the volume / brightness scroll wheel on this keyboard and the convenient placement of the BT/USB mode switch (not on the back of the keyboard.) It's probably my favourite keyboard, I just wish I could have had brown switches instead of red at that price.

If you want a budget hot-swap wireless keyboard, the Royal Kludge RK87 is not bad. There are several models - beware most people seem to sell the older Sink87G model, which is not a great option. The newest model has Bluetooth 3, Bluetooth 5, 2.4GHz and USB-C with a two port USB hub. I got lucky and got one from Amazon.au, brown switches, for AUD$71.24 delivered in 2 days. This keyboard comes with two removable shrouds, so you have the option to run it as fully floating keys, semi-floating keys or traditional keys. It's a good keyboard for the price.

I'd avoid the Corsair and Logitech offerings. They provide poor value for money.

  • I love using my Logitech K750 since 2012. A slim solar keyboard i can throw in my laptop bag and use anywhere. Never runs out of battery.

Most mainstream keyboard brands still fall short in terms of durability, and are still catching up with the design and form factors that were previously considered niche in the keyboard enthusiast market.

However, I found the Skyloong GK84, I got this one to be a great option at $140 AUD when I got it.

I initially tried the SK61 for around $40 (OzB deal) but needed more keys, so I got the GK84.

I also have a semi matching GK21 number pad.

If you prioritize RGB sync and extensive macro use, integration might not be as convenient with this keyboard.

Asus recently released the Azoth which I've tried and it feels great, but its over double what I paid

Preference aside, this is a highly robust option with replaceable parts.
