  • Camels says Amazon hasn't been below $1199. So great price. I wonder if Asus Australia are going to push this instead of selling the XT9 locally?

  • Consider ET12 as that one has got wifi 6E. I have two of those connected and speed/coverage is excellent. No need to buy two of those together I bought them separately as these are pretty expensive to buy together but much more future proof.

Wait, this is over $1000 and doesn't have 6E?

You could literally buy 2 Ubiquiti U6 Enterprise for this price which would kick the shit out of it.

      • I have the XT12 for over two months and haven't had to restart the router since the initial setup. It has fast response and has so far handle heavy the load on my network. Past routers, XT8, buckled often. I do agree its steep for that stability premium

You're suggesting this gamer router is more reliable than actual enterprise grade gear designed to reliably service entire workplaces?

      • I was wanting the 2.5G LAN connection so that I can run via an ethernet backhaul to the other end of the house.

I did look into the Unifi products, but my understanding is that to use Ubiquiti U6 access points, you still need a UDM or UDM Pro to enable this to happen. Is this not the case? Or can you really get away with two access points and linking these together across a house with no other hardware? How would you map out a system where you needed two access points and wanted to plug in hardware like a PS5 and Apple TV via Ethernet, and enable them to talk to one another?

        • For normal Unifi APs, you can install Unifi Controller on a PC to setup, or, install Unifi software on mobile phone to setup everything. After you set them up, you don't need those software to run in the background for the APs to work.

          • @24601: Thanks @24601

In this case, I'm assuming you'd still technically need a router, and these APs help share the network across the area. Would this mean I could potentially hold onto my existing router and manage it this way?

At this price point, what is the point of this thing?

No 6E (when WIFI7 is imminent) and no 10GBe ports.

For this price, we can buy 2 x AX11000 which will offer better speeds and coverage.

  • What an a rip off for a router

For that price you could install your own 5G tower on your roof.

So you would literally install covid on your roof?

      • What is the connection between Covid and 5G?

Who won earth would pay over $1K for wifi 6 not even 6e?
