What is Reward Gateway?
Reward Gateway is an employee program that gives you access to discounted eGift cards and cashback across a large range of retailers.
How do I access Reward Gateway?
The most common way to access the program is through your employer. Your employer needs to be subscribed to this program before you can apply to access the program. Once you are given access, you can log into Reward Gateway through:
- The dedicated website for your company, or
- The SmartSpending app on iOS/Android.
Alternatively, members of API Lifestyle can access Reward Gateway (where membership costs $10 a month).
What is the transaction fee?
Transaction fees will vary depending on the type of card used to complete the transaction. The feedback I have been given by their support team is as follows:
- MasterCard or Visa debit card: 0%
- Standard MasterCard or Visa credit card: 0%
- Premium / Platinum MasterCard or Visa credit card: 0.5%
- Standard AMEX card: 1.5%
- Premium AMEX card: 3%
Can I use prepaid gift cards (e.g. Vanilla Visa gift cards, Coles Mastercard gift cards, OnlyONE Visa gift cards) as a payment method?
Probably not.
Reward Gateway requires all debit, credit and prepaid cards to support 3-D Secure. Prepaid gift cards do not support 3-D Secure, so they are likely to be blocked by the payment processor.
Why are you posting this as a deal when Ultimate gift cards featuring JB Hi-Fi are currently 10% off at Woolworths and TCN gift cards featuring BCF are currently 15% off at Coles?
It is because the Coles and Woolworths deals will not suit everyone, and people can work out which deal suits them best. For example:
The deals at Coles and Woolworths require you to visit a physical supermarket to pick up gift cards. Fingers crossed you live near a Coles or Woolworths and the stores actually have the gift cards you want in stock in the denominations you want.
The redemption of Ultimate gift cards are handled by JB Hi-Fi very differently to JB Hi-Fi gift cards, plus it is not straightforward to convert an Ultimate gift card into a JB Hi-Fi. If you are like this person who lives three hours from the nearest store with stock, it may not be ideal to try to purchase $2,000 worth of JB Hi-Fi gift cards through a JB Hi-Fi store or through the JB Hi-Fi website using multiple $30, $50 or $100 Ultimate gift cards across a number of days or weeks… With this deal, all you need to do to purchase $2,000 in JB Hi-Fi gift cards is to make one purchase through Reward Gateway.
BCF has a redemption limit of three BCF gift cards in one online transaction and 5 eftpos cards in one instore transaction. If you are like this person and live a long way from a BCF store or do not want to deal with the hassle of workarounds to turn multiple $50 or $100 TCN gift cards into a BCF gift card, this deal would be more straightforward.
Shame they don't have Amazon gift cards in their store
