The Qantas Group is renewing calls for customers with COVID-era travel credits to use them towards booking a trip before the deadline of 31 December 2023. Trips can be taken through until December 2024.

Wouldn't all those credits have expired…. I remember I had some Jetstar ones which they refused to extend even though VIC was in extended lockdown for years

    • they've frequently extended them. At the very least, run your booking PNR through the tool and see!

      Jetstar ones definitely, garbage airline.

    • Nah.
I have a voucher from 2020 expiring at the end of the year… But I don't want to fly this S*htstar.

    • It might be worth getting in contact with Jetstar again, I think they have got more lenient with the extensions. They extended some expired credit I had recently.

Nothing like dropping from 5th to 17th on the Skytrax ratings to get them motivated to sort this huge mess out!

They announced this months ago, only released today :)

  • Reported in The Australian this morning:

"Qantas will hand back some of the money it collected from customers for flights that were ultimately cancelled due to Covid restrictions, as the clock ticks down towards the December 31 expiry of the travel credits. The airline has claimed refunds were always available to the majority of those with travel credits, but it’s now easier to access a refund with the help of a dedicated call centre concierge. Around $2bn worth of Covid credits were issued across the Qantas Group when borders suddenly slammed shut in March 2020 causing mass flight cancellations. More cancellations occurred as state borders closed and reopened on multiple occasions throughout 2020, 2021 and in early 2022.

Qantas has revealed about $400m in travel credits are still outstanding, as it ups efforts to ensure customers are not left out of pocket. About two-thirds of the remaining credits are worth less than $500."

Absolutely bs about the refunds being available, I have an email chain stating that since they have me credit they can't give me a refund instead…

Qantas feels like what Jetstar used to be and idk what to say about Jetstar… Good lord they're so shit now, Rex flying within cities is a game changer

      • I think Rex is wrapping up?

Bet it doesn't apply to those of us having to use credits via agents.

    I hate Qantas.

    • The tool works for locating Qantas booked and agent booked flights.

Qantas sure turned to sh1t real fast… They used to considered a decent airline

    • You can thank Alan Joycefor that.

Why do I have to go find it
How is the onus not on Qantas to do the right thing by me

Seems like a fairly inexpensive way for them to outsource the auditing of their outstanding travel credits to the customer

  • wish they would give me my QFF points they stole due to inactivity during covid

    • contact them and they may give you a way to earn them back.

      • ive never been able to wait the more than 2 hours wait time on hold.

ill try again some time i guess.
