  • Pardon me but do any of these light bars have speakers built in ? Would buy 1 then - basic user . Even less clutter !

    • Not that I am aware of. There are some monitors that have speakers, but these are just screen bars.

  • I bought this two years ago. It's good but not worth the money given the number of much cheaper brands around today.
It's at least a hundred dollars overpriced.

    • It's 100% worth the sale price for those who value good quality. Benq invented this, whereas most others are made up brands like basoues or whatever that just blatantly copied the idea and manufacture subpar quality items.

Are the cheaper brands comparable in terms of luminosity? If so, please share the specifics of that xoimami item that puts out 1000 lux and has a CRI that's greater than 95.

      • Yes, Benq was the first which is why I bought it at the time, there being few alternatives, unlike now. I did buy a Xiaomi 6 months ago on special but have not used it yet. I have installed a $14.99 Kogan unit (see link to deal below) on top of my 2nd monitor (of a 3 monitor setup) and while it does not look as good as the Benq it lights up my desk satisfactorily.

Of course, the Benq is better than the Kogan, but the Kogan does the job as far as I’m concerned for < 1/10 the price. My sister has a $40 unit from Amazon which looks better than the Kogan and lights up her desk well when she needs it.

At the end of the day, if someone wants to pay $100+ more for a light over their desk it’s up to them. The Benq, while being a good unit, is IMO not worth the money.

I agree there are alternatives, but they're not similar I'm quality or specs.

At the end of the day, if someone wants to pay $100+ more for a light over their desk it’s up to them.

I don't think you could reduce it to that. It's over a $100 because it's the original and the best there is in terms of outright quality and performance.

    Some people value that.

I'm still open to be convinced that there's something better in case you're able to quote the specs in terms of light output and CRI. But I think we both know that the cheaper quality ones won't even come close.

If the cheapest Kogan light works for you, that's good for you. 👍

But that doesn't mean this item is overpriced because there's really nothing even at the RRP that is similarly specced.

  • Just got the Xiaomi screenbar after getting sold on screenbars from using the Ikea one: Good build quality but definitely nowhere near the brightness of the benq, its only 270 lumens which comes out to around 320lux on my 0.84sqm desk.

The ikea one is extremely good value for the money and I was very happy with how bright it is (370lumens, 450 lux), only downside is that theres no colour temperature adjustment.

I also tried the Kmart one with the webcam last year and that was appalingly bad

Thinking about trying out the BenQ next and if all else fails, I'll just go back to the Ikea
