About this item

  • Reawaken a Classic – Resident Evil 4 preserves the essence of the original game, now reconstructed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to deliver realistic visuals and additional narrative depth to the iconic story that was not possible at the time of the original release.

  • Modernized Gameplay - Engage in frenzied combat with the Ganados villagers, explore a European village gripped by madness, and solve puzzles to access new areas and collect useful items for Leon and Ashley’s constant struggle to survive.

  • Overwhelming Hordes - Face hordes of rabid enemies that threaten to overwhelm Leon with even more diverse methods of attack than in the original release.

  • Survive on a Knife’s Edge - Years of intense training have taught Leon new ways to use his knife, helping to even the odds against the unrelenting onslaught of enemies. By parrying enemy attacks, you can avoid debilitating damage and evade lunging enemies seeking to grab Leon and hold him in place. Make smart use of scavenged knives to deliver precise finishing moves on vulnerable enemies, and even use the element of surprise to quietly dispatch unsuspecting foes before they break.

  • Reimagined Story - Resident Evil 4 dials up the original release’s key feelings of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry, while providing more nuanced depictions of the character motivations and relationships that defined the 2005 survival horror icon.

Beat me to it! Good deal. Also available for Xbox Series X/S https://amzn.asia/d/0AXWYaG

    • Maybe for Series X but you can't play on S? (I'm just asking in case I missed something, I only have the S)

      • How are you going to sick the disc into the Series S? Buy it digitally from Xbox stores?

        • -1

          Dremel?

Yeah I knew someone was going to say this but I didn't know if some of these discs might be bundled with a download code for the digital version or something? And then I could use the disc if I ever pick an X up…

          • @beebul:

I didn't know if some of these discs might be bundled with a download code for the digital version or something?

Other than boxed PC games from the late 90s, when has this ever been true for consoles? What's to stop someone using the code themselves and double dipping by selling the disc?

            • +1

              @SydStrand: I'm just asking based on the original X/S comment…neg away 🤣

              • @beebul: Didn't neg you. Just asking, because AFAIK, this has never been the norm.

            • +1

@SydStrand: Different console, but there are Switch games where an empty case is sole with a code.

              https://www.pockettactics.com/nintendo-switch-code-in-a-box

Maybe there’s examples of this on Xbox or PS, but I think it’s more prevalent on Switch due to the higher cost to produce a cartridge, especially a higher capacity one. Blurays on the other hand aren’t that much and if you’ve gone to the effort to ship and put a case on the shelf you may as well throw in the disc.

              • @Smigit: I know about those. But they don't include a disc or cartridge, otherwise that's two copies for the price of one.

                • @SydStrand: I guess I interpreted the question as possibly asking whether it was just a code in a box, with no disc.

  • Good starting point for the series? Do I need to have played the others ? thanks.

    • +3

Great starting point, one of the most fun to play in the series!

    • +4

Recommend playing RE2 and RE3 remakes

    • +3

You don't need to, but RE2 is better IMO. RE4 is still great, I never played it as a kid.

    • +3

You definitely could start with this one.

It does feature a returning protagonist and references events from past games, particularly RE2, as part of the backstory. RE4 has its own plot and takes place in a different location though, so it can stand up mostly on its own.

If you didn’t feel like playing the others, maybe watching brief synopses for the previous mainline games is worthwhile for context, but you definitely won’t be lost without them.

    • Only Resident Evil I’ve played through and only the second I’ve played (played the original on Game Cube) and I found it very enjoyable and easy to follow with no significant ties to previous games that were essential. Great game too and I highly recommend it.

    • Yes, you can actually start from any RE, the full storyv of the saga is so convoluted that it doesn't make any difference

    • I'd start with RE2re then Re4re.

  • Tempting but just bought Metroid. Will wait a little longer for this amazing game.

  • +1

Bro cannot platinum this game S+ on professional is killing me.

    Great game tho

  • +2

I wonder if there will be a free upgrade for PSVR2 when it's available.

Edit: Apparently there will be, with No additional cost.

    • yeah its on oculus I know that you can get the VR version not sure if they will bring it to PSVR yet.

      • +2

The one on Oculus is the original ported to first person + VR controls whereas this is the remake.

        • How is psvr vs native q2 game , sure the graphics sucked ass for re4 on q2 but controls were amazing , would it be the same for re4r on psvr2 ?
I played re2 on pcvr but was turned off by crappy controlls

          • @botchie: I love the Quest version, it’s super easy to look past the low resolution and polygon models since the game is super fun and tense.

While the Village PSVR looks about 1000x times better, there are too many controls and the usb cable is a major pain. I prefer playing 4 on Quest

            • @coxjon: yeah thats what i want to know how PSVR works, is it the same as re4 on q2 or like PCVR where they just Mod the original game and it doesnt feel natural

              • @botchie: RE: Village on PSVR2 has full individual hand movements, you open the map by grabbing it out of your jacket, you can grab and throw things - very different from the quick VR mods done on PC. Good review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlY7qGVVjyo

All the footage so far points to RE4 VR on PSVR2 being the same.

                • +1

@McFodder: thats good to know - i would buy psvr2 just for this

  • Is this better on PS5 or xbox? I usually go PS for this series because the original games were made with PS controllers in mind, but RE4 was made for Gamecube first.

    • +5

RE4R makes full use of the Dualsense, go for the PS5 version.

  • This game on PC is amazeballs

  • Mistake or this game didn’t sell well? Thank god I didn’t bite yet was going to grab it for $89 the other day.

    • +4

Capcom games tend to drop in price at a reasonable speed.

  • Tempting

  • +1

I'm holding out for the PSVR2 update and reckon it will be cheaper before then.

    • +3

Agree, got too big a backlog at the moment anyway.

      • My thoughts exactly. Been dying to play this but my backlog is way too busy at the moment and hopefully not buying now means that a better price in the future awaits.

    • Didn't the PSVR2 update come out around the time of launch? Or am I mixing up games?

Edit: based on other comments, I am mixing up games.

  • +2

Price matching JB Hi Fi, for anyone interested

  • Dropping pretty fast urgh

  • +1

I‘ll wait for this to drop a bit lower then cop

  • +2

    What are you buying?

    Hehehe. Thank you

  • 🎶 Down Down, prices are down 🎵

It’s been Barely 4 months since it’s release.

  • Great price for one of the best remakes in recent times. A close 2nd to Dead Space

  • +3

    Will get it when I finish RE2, RE3, RE7 and RE8.

  • Weird take to see a game getting down in price quick and think that is a bad thing.

Especially one that has great sales like RE4R and is an excellent game.

    • +1

gold edition is probably on it way

      • +1

Unsure if that’ll happen soon, but there has been speculation that there will be a DLC for Ada’s Seperate Ways content and that some of the changes to the game point towards it likely cropping up there.

      • Gotta love Capcom and their updated "editions" of games. Odds are RE4R gold edition will be the RE4R vanilla disc with the DLC code.

Will also wait for SF6 with all season passes included. LOL

  • Jb’d it. Ta
