  • Doesn’t it also say “current” members as well?

Edit: and isn’t it available now? Or will I hit a hurdle at some point?

    • +2

Yes you are right. I haven't spotted that. Nice. That wasn't the case with the original deal when posted.

      • Yes it was

Existing members with an active account can take up the 6 months on us offer detailed below (provided you meet the criteria) and your existing membership payments will be managed through your Optus account and covered by Optus for 6 months, after which you will revert to ordinary billing through Amazon

        • +1

Thanks for spotting that. It wasn't on the description of the original post.

I dont think same amazon account can enjoy the benefit again. I have not been able to use the free prime offers from mastercard credit cards, because i used one from westpac CC

  • if i have already used this, can i use it again?

    • +1

You can try. But if you have previously redeemed an Amazon Prime offer via SubHub you are not eligible to use it again.

      • +2

didn't think so, but the answer is always no unless you ask

    • No, I just tried it. Doesn’t work. I used last time Telstra reward points when activating a prepaid SIM card to get 3 months for free.

    • Did you manage to get a repeat 6 months free prime?

  • I had a yearly subscription with prime, next billing date was march 2024. Added this deal to my account and it changed it to expire 6 months from now to December 2023. Any idea how to fix this?
Edit: actually bit strange situation. App now says next billing date is dec 2023, website says September 2024. So it added the 6 months maybe?

    • -1

It doesnt add 6 months. Prime Billing is transferred to optus and is charged monthly with optus account credit monthly for 6 months

      • +2

I fixed itself. Yes it added 6 months on top on my yearly sub

        • Does it take time to add the 6 months? I am also on a yearly to May 2024 but nothing has changed yet.

          • @Wonwon1: Took maybe 10mins to sort itself out

            • @Seismic: yep mine fixed itself - my 12 months Prime subscription was to end in December, it has added 6 months to it and is now showing expiry in June 2024 :)

    • Could your accounts be on a different email address?

      • Want to know the same

      • Only have 1 Amazon account which is on a different email to my Optus. But it all fixed itself in like 10 mins without me doing anything

  • When I click the above link, I only get a “Reactivate” option in Optus SubHub and no mention of 6 months free. ☹️

    • Are you an existing Optus postpaid customer?
Have you used this offer before?

      • Yes I’m an optus postpaid customer and no I do not recall using this before.

  • +3

What’s the cheapest way to take advantage of this deal if I don’t have anything with optus?

    • +1

I would also like to know this

      • Me too.

PS: Also note that on July 1st, Prime membership jump from $59/y to $79/y

        • Its already 79$/y

  • +1

SubHub is only worth it if you have >3 subscriptions and are currently paying monthly. If you pay annually for your subscriptions, it could be cheaper to pay it directly to the service provider.

  • From 28 June 2023, Amazon Prime subscription prices are changing to $9.99/m. This cost will be included with your Optus account on your next paid renewal from 28 June 2023.

  • +1

This will come in handy. My prime membership is expiring on 23/6. Thanks!

  • If im already a member of amazon that has paid yearly, what happens if i accept this?

It says optus will cover the monthly repayments for the 6 month period, but i dont have monthly payments. Hmm

    • It added 6 months to my existing membership woo

  • Which is now up to $50 worth, given how expensive it is now.

  • +2

They snap it off you immediately after leaving Optus just FYI.

    • +2

      This sounds painful

    • Can you buy a prepaid plan, sub to Amazon through subhub and then port out your number and still keep prime?
      Would that work?

      • Not sure. I got mine via Optus as I had 4G home internet. Then I got NBN fibre so I cancelled it. Having long forgotten about the free prime, the email from Amazon saying I'd cancelled my Prime sure was a shock.

        • Hmmm.
          Asked Optus live chat:

Optus: So currently you are operating these services on discount on Subhub platform?
Me: Yes, they currently are being paid through subhub, my question is: can they stay in subhub and be billed through there, after porting my number out or am I required to have a service attached (sim plan) to the account?
          Optus: Yes it will work
Me: How long will my Optus account remain open for after porting out?
Optus: Because you can login through your personal email

So from my understanding, I should be okay and can still get the free 6 months or am I reading their reply wrong?

          • @CC123: You will lose your Amazon Prime via subhub as soon as you port out. Been there.

            • @search: Bummer. So not even a prepaid number will keep it active?

Edit: Confirmed with another rep that I'll be active and should stay (well, I used binge as the example as that's active)

              • @CC123: I posted a similar question below then came across your comment. Can you confirm you’re still getting the free 6 months Prime even without an active Optus service?

                • +1

@googolplex: (Sadly) my Optus service is still active - I decided to wait until 7 months before my retention discount runs out, use the prime and head to a Boost 12-month sim.

                  But judging by this…

Your SubHub account is provided as part of your eligible Optus service. If you cancel your Optus Service, you will lose access to the SubHub platform and your Content Service subscriptions at the next renewal date. If you have more than one eligible Optus billing account, you may change your billing account in the SubHub settings tab of the platform.

                  …you'll lose access.

Not sure what the rep I spoke with back in June was on about.

                  • @CC123: Thanks for the quick reply. Having never used SubHub would I be correct in assuming the renewal date Optus is referring to here, is in SubHub, and not in Amazon?

So if I sign up today I’d see a renewal date of 5/11/23 rather than 5/4/24 in SubHub

                    • +1

                      @googolplex:

Correct. Will be a monthly renewal. You'll need to set a reminder to cancel 5 and a half months in

  • +2

Thanks for reminding me that my membership on one of my accs expire today!

On to live chat to renew at $59 (Amazon CS promised me the $59 price after a refund of the difference even though it’s showing $79 right now)

    • $79 starts on July 1st, but yes they advertise the new price, even if in fine print you can read (apply from July 1st)

      • Only for renewals. If you don’t have an active membership that renews, the price is $79 since last month. What happens is when you sign up to Prime via Optus Subhub, you can’t change the billing settings, so when the 6 months is over, Optus effectively cancels your Prime, and Amazon can’t renew it, hence the system charging me $79.

Amazon rep happily refunded me the difference yesterday so my annual plan is $59

  • Why no love for prepaid customers? Same affected by data breach before

  • +1

Not working for me, despite meeting all requirements - never used subhub before, am a postpaid optus customer, but when signing up from subhub and log into amazon, it says “activation failed - this account not eligible for this offer” :(. Not sure why. Been with amazon since they started in AUS. Wonder if worth cancelling my subscription to get the 6months worth….hmmm. But then it defaults to $9.99/month, whereas I have currently that my annual membership will be $6.99/month when renews in October. So confused

    • the price change on July 1st, when you renew on October you'll be on a $9.99/m or $79/y plan

  • +1

Wont even think about joining them, They still owe me thousands

    • Amazon or Optus? One is great, the other one sucks hard

  • I'm an existing annual prime subscriber. It sounds like I can get an extra 6 months free but I'm wondering what happens at the end of the 6 months. Can i switch back to paying annually?

  • +1

When linking to my amazon, amazon says this membership isnt eligible even thougg it appears in my Optus account - any ideas?

    • Have you already used a free 6/12month prime bonus - don't think you can use multiple. Also looks to only be for postpaid Optus service others (internet, prepaid mobile, etc.) not included with the offer.

  • Same. I am a existing member and just created an account on optus sub. When i try to activate it, tells me that my amazon account is not eligble.

  • Amazing benefit for existing month-to-month Prime members. Thanks OP!!!

  • Thanks OP - worked perfectly for me! I've been kicking myself for forgetting to switch to a year subscription prior to the price hike but this makes me feel a lil better.

  • Anyone who’s getting the not eligible error found any sort of workaround?

I have an existing membership and am trying to get the 6 months free but with no luck :/

  • Thanks OP - just got an free extra six months extension to my existing annual Prime subscription - instead of expiring in December 2023, it will now be active through to June 2024 :)

  • Does not show anything free for me. Straight to $9.99 a month.
