Works out to be $22/kg if you buy 3 packs for $20. Decent (but not amazing) deal if you like pre marinated and cut stir fry meat. It’s worth considering that as it’s marinated it’s only 93% beef, so pure cost wise you’d be better off buying a bulk pack of rump at Aldi and marinating yourself. Of course this has the convenience option and if you normally shop at Coles saves your time (especially for online shoppers). Regular non marinated beef strips are $26/kg at Coles but 100% beef. There are other products in the same multibuy deal but this works out to have the largest saving as it’s normally $40.50/kg or $12.15 per pack. I would imagine these would freeze okay. I have no idea what this tastes like and what the meat quality is like.

how 93% beef ?
Mmmmm beef with black bean sauce
since when were these 300g packs?
Did they used to be a different size?
could have sworn these were 400-500
It would make sense to be 400-500g. 300g is quite small, but I guess if you stir fry with veggies it stretches it out. Full price on these is a total rip off, not bad on the multibuy.
@morse: yeah fair enough. 300 is too small for us (5) even with veggies, the unmarinated stuff is always 500 but i thought this was too
@perfectlydark: Definitely too small for 5.
You could combine it with one of the other deals in the multi buy like https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-beef-and-pork-meatbal…
Two packs of Stirfry one of meatballs, have spaghetti meatballs for one dinner and stirfry another. protein for two family meals that are mostly prepared for $20 isn’t terrible. But yeah - shrinkflation is everywhere
@morse: indeed. cheers!
Thats the woolworths ones maybe?
300/500/800/1kg in my local store, the 300 and 800 aren't always on offer. I still buy the 800/1kg for meal prep but living in a two person household 300g would be a perfect serving for a single meal.
Not gonna lie, its pretty rare for colesworth to cater for smaller families or couples, I always find myself having left overs to the point where I minus 1-2 meals from the weekly shop now
Mid week special…
Has anyone done the anecdotal research on whether its better to shop mid week over the weekend? My partner and I have a Sunday shop routine but happy to change that if we are subject to more significant price discounts for doing so.. Bit of a pain cause 3 for $20 would have sorted us out for an entire week worth of protein..
The new specials for the week come out on Wednesday and run through to midnight Tuesday the following week. This deal should still be available this weekend. A lot of the multibuy deals run for several weeks if not longer.
Upvote purely for the effort and honesty put into the description.
In terms of value for the meat content alone, the 93% beef at $22/kg is a better value, as you are paying $20.46 for the same amount of beef content as the 100% beef at $26/kg.
