430

Seems to be a good deal.

The P735 Series is TCL’s starting point for 4K resolution and offers excellent value with its feature selection. Enjoy vibrant colours and superior contrast with HDR and Wide Colour Gamut, as well as great sound capabilities through Dolby Atmos. Installed with Google TV interface, other smart functions include Hands Free Voice Control, Chromecast built-in and ALLM for gaming enthusiasts.
Ultra-High Definition (UHD) Clarity
With four times the resolution of Full HD viewing, 4K delivers an incredible upgrade in detail and clarity. Enjoy all your viewing and gaming with stunning sharpness and definition. Keep up with the growing trend of UHD movie, show, and game development.

Colour, Clarity, and Contrast Control
High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology is designed to manage the advanced colour, brightness, and contrast capabilities of modern TVs. Capable of producing up to 1.07 billion colours with darker blacks and brighter whites, HDR brings more true-to-life vibrancy and contrast to your home TV screen.

Experience the Centre of Sound
Dolby Atmos puts you at the centre of the action. Watching a concert, cheering for your favourite sports team, or deep in an action scene, Dolby Atmos will have you experience the sound of the front row through its incredibly immersive 3D Sound Stage. Take the next step to superior audio.

Advanced Processing for Power and Performance
The AiPQ Engine is the incredible audio/visual processor driving TCL's outstanding features and performance. The AiPQ Engine processes content in real time, detecting environment and upscaling display and audio. Picture is optimised according to content; so, oceans appear bluer and rainforests more lush. Meanwhile audio quality is compensated dynamically based on volume, eliminating distortion of signal and speakers, and providing a more authentic listening experience at any sound level.

Clear Motion Rate (CMR)
Cleaner and clearer presentation of sports, action movies, shows, and games. Clear Motion Rate reduces on-screen judder and motion blur, to deliver an enhanced visual impact within fast moving scenes. Stay ‘in the moment’ when the action gets intense with CMR technology.

  • Best affordable TV

    • Yeah it is very affordable

  • Poor viewing angles on this one.

      • They all say that in reviews. It's all a big marketing scam (not TCL, the industry)

        • It's not a marketing scam. I have this TV (in a larger size), the viewing angles are fine. In fact I've never even considered them because it's not an issue.

Of course you can't even read a piece of paper at 178 degrees, it just means the picture is visible

          • @greatlamp: I only mention that it's whack in the sense that it's meaningless information to make feelgood, every panel type (ips, va) and than other backlight tech like OLED all have same number yet obviously they are leagues different, the only one that never wrote 178 was TN lol.

  • Wifi 4…

    • +9

You aren't hitting the threshold of wifi speed on a TV.

      • -2

How do you know they aren't? It runs Google TV, so any app that can transfer data over LAN can easily max out wifi 4 speeds. Sure, there's probably not enough storage for it to make any real difference, and the processor is likely going to bottleneck faster transfer speeds anyway, but 150Mbps is still REALLY slow for actual data transfer (streaming is still well below that though).

        • -3

          Well said.

        • +1

What are you going to need to transfer on a TV using the built in OS above 150Mbps?

  • This or Toshiba?!

    • +2

This. Toshiba is a rebranded no name.
Not like Toshiba of the past.

  • Is this better than the 58 inch that was just $427?

  • Have TCL tellys improved so much in the last 5 years to make this one viable? The last one I bought in 2018 is a steaming pile of shit - OS, colour, upscaling, bleed and so on.

    • I bought one in 2020 to use as a monitor. The colour isn't great (dithering/flyscreen effect) and cleartype (in windows) is bad because it's got BGR (rather than RGB) subpixel alignment, and it seems to only do 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 chroma subsampling. However, once I got used to those issues it's had absolutely no problems and I still use it as a monitor (connected to a MBP).

  • cant find the rtings review for this model? anyone?

    • +1

You won’t - the models in the US are different and mostly run Roku. When I lived in the US TCL was always one of the best budget brands on rtings, and I really did like Roku. But im not sure how to translate the model numbers in the US to ours - or if there is any relation. I wanted to bring my TVs back with me but the US models didn’t support 240v.

Is this really a deal?? We bought the 65" version of this TV for cheaper…

  • +2

I have had this tv for about a year in the bedroom . Picture quality is ok , black level uniformity is its weak point . Not a deal deal breaker at this price point .
The OS is a bit slow but it works really well and has no issues playing media straight off my Nas without any Plex or other transcoding . I wish my LG C2 had this functionality .

I bought the 55c735 last night for $600 delivered.
I think C is an upgrade over P series?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TCL-55-Inch-C735-QLED-4K-Smart-G…

    • Yeah it's an upgraded version I believe

    • I am unsure if factorydirect-au can be trusted. Can you provide any review for the item? like the delivery time, cost, packaging, condition of the tv, etc. I wanted to buy from them but a bit curious before I lose my money. Newbie here. Looking for some feedback. Cheers :)

I wish I'd done some googling before purchasing from these guys.
The TV arrived in a box that was falling apart. The polystyrene protecting the TV literally falling out the bottom of the box. The original seals all gone. Resealed with JB Hi Fi tape in places.
I called them to complain. They assured me the TV itself was brand new. Also complained via eBay and got the same reply.
So I opened the box. Dust and scratches everywhere. The bags for the remote and screws torn open.
Hopefully the refund process goes smoothly.

        • Some of the reviews on ebay listed the same issues. Thank you mate. I saved $700 bucks on the c835. I think its better to buy from reputable sellers for $100-150 more than going through the trouble of returns. I better wait for the TGG ebay deal for p635 for $429.

Hard pass on this model after 2 duds. Motherboard fail after a few hours 43 inch and lip sink problem on 65 inch.

  • Man how times haven't changed, I got a 4k ≈40" Kogan for like $500-$600. Now a "great deal" is a moderately bigger TV for about the same price.

    • TCL may not be top-tier league like LG and Sony, but comparing it to Kogan is just silly

      • -1

They all use same panels inside anyway, rehashed Samsung VA panels etc, although sometimes Kogan uses lelftover LG IPS (yuck for TV)

Same with monitors, all Kogan monitor use same panels other main brand use. Only like 4 panel manufactures in world and yet 50 monitor companies.
