  • Anyone know if I can use this to buy village cinema tickets through Telstra plus online?

    • Shouldn’t be an issue, using the prepaid card details on the village cinemas site via Telstra.

I do the same (telstra/other discounts) and pay with these cards.

      • Thanks for sharing, cheers!

  • i was looking to get one of these, and went to Village on the weekend and asked them if they accepted them, and they said they do not

That's a concern. I wish the website would say which companies…., not just "any that takes eftpos".

    • +1

There is a lot of confusion with these types of things. I had the physical TCN cinema cards and they had always worked, but most workers would think they won't. Just ask to pay with eftpos and you're fine.

The cards I used were swipe-style magnetic strip so it was always fun being the first person in a year or two who would swipe their card. They've moved the swipe location in all sorts of places lately

You can’t expect cinema frontline staff to be cross third party products. I have no doubt it would work if you simply swiped or tapped the card (physical or digital) on the eftpos machine.

I’ve used these at Event, Palace, Dendy and Independent cinemas without issue.

  • Can I use this online to purchase Cinema tickets for Melbourne IMAX (Museum) ?

    • +1

I think so because if you go to the company’s website and search for participating cinemas, IMAX Melbourne is one of them. Although I think you would have to get tickets in person.

  • Anyone confirm if it works for palace cinemas including online booking / redemption?

    • +1

I got these previously and they worked in person at Palace Cinemas, even for food and drinks. I don’t think you can use it online anywhere. Looks like you have to use it (physical or digital) with an EFTPOS terminal.

  • Can this stack with the Event Cinema Tuesday Deal?

    • +2

i think you can as long as the machine accepts it
