Gomo Is No More

Just noticed, gomo is not accepting customers anymore and changes are coming, does anyone have any insights of what Optus is up to?

Optus doesn’t own GOMO, only offers them it’s network services.

        You are right

For some context - when my data from 2018 got breached last year via Optus, I was with GOMO at the time and I was concerned so I reached out to them and they told me that Optus doesn’t actually own GOMO ( I too was under the impression that Optus owned GOMO) and the rep at the time clearly told me that wasn’t the case and that GOMO only uses the Optus network. Also that my data is 100% secure and only managed/stored by GOMO.

I just reinstalled the GOMO app to double check and the rep right now repeated the what you have just said.
In short - You were right, I was not.
        Good day

  • Oh No!

Missed opportunity to title the thread as “Gomo is no mo”.

    • hahaha

  • Nogo

  • Anyone know an alternative cheap eSIM carrier? I was paying $15/mo with GOMO for 8GB +data banking.

    • kogan mobile

    • Was? That's what I'm on and it's still going fine.

      • It's still going. The app has issues so I use the 9999 SMS menu.

        Just text MENU to 9999.

        Works for Optus prepaid too.

Yes. Chat told me to use that aswell

      • I just got a new phone, and with eSIM being discontinued they couldn't move my eSIM plan over. Only option was to port to a physical SIM.

Ended up porting my GOMO number to Amaysim using the $10/m PAYG eSIM plan, since I don't need data.

  • GOMO NO MO’ - wish they bothered to actually tell existing customers. Found this googling.

    SAYING GOODBYE TO GOMO

Thanks for being with gomo over the years and part of the Optus family. As we continue to improve our products and look for new ways to provide even greater value, we’ve decided to say goodbye to gomo on 15 December 2023.

To make sure you’re not left without a plan, our brand partner Catch Connect also offers simple, affordable prepaid plans, powered by the Optus network. See the letter sent to you for more details.

But what does this mean for your service?

From 15 November 2023, we’ll turn off AutoRecharge. You won’t be able to recharge your service, but you’ll still be able to use it until your current recharge runs out.

On 15 December 2023 we’ll make it official and close all gomo services. You’ll need to switch to a new provider before then to keep your number.

"See the letter sent to you for more details."

Need to check the mail box. I heard it might contain a free SIM for Catch.

    • lol…I jumped ship yesterday for the catch 90 days for $21 offer. Let’s see if a “free sim” pops up!

      • Mine hasn't come yet. Has anyone got a free SIM?

  • Received a text, damn! Looks like I lost $8

GOMO: Hi there, we wrote to you last week to let you know we’re saying goodbye to gomo on 15/12/23. To make switching to a new provider easier, we sent you a new SIM and an amazing first-month free offer from our partner brand Catch Connect Mobile, who are also powered by Optus. Didn’t get the letter? Message us in the app or at gomo.com.au/support More info: gomo.com.au/support

For anyone changing to Catch Connect. You have to do this before 1 November if you want to take advantage of the old plans (which are better than the new ones)

    • Thanks for the heads up! In hindsight, was lucky I bought the $29 plan when I did.
