Correct me if im wrong but the wireless adapter also lets you use wireless xbox headphones on your PC which is a nice plus.

    • Correct

I have the Xbox Wireless Headset, works awesome on my gaming PC. And it supports Dolby Atmos if you are willing to pay the licence fee.

    • It does, I tried it and I did get some audio artifacting while using the controller and headset at the same time. It mostly happened when there were a lot of different sounds happening at the same time. Parts of the audio would be "stretched and robotic sounding" (compressed?). If I just had the headset connected by itself, it was always fine.

With that being said, I am running a wireless card in my PC and also had a wireless mouse, so it's entirely possible that buttload of interference caused it to start crapping out.

This is absolutely anecdotal of course.

      • FWIW these wireless adapters do use 2.4GHz to communicate, so interference is pretty plausible. :)

  • What's the advantage of connecting the controller via Wireless Adapter instead of Bluetooth? Or is it just for people without Bluetooth on their PC?

    • +12

      Maybe latency?

      • Makes sense.

      • -1

        Definitely latency.

    • +4

Latency, additional features, and many PC bluetooth dongles have poor performance at couch distances and/or with multiple controllers at once.

    • +4

Once you have connected the Xbox accessories to the dongle, you can use the Xbox Accessories app to set it up, change settings, upgrade firmware and for the headphones, you can change EQ, mic transparency etc. pretty neat.

    • +1

i just use bt but tempted to use this as bt connection does not support 3.5mm headphone sound directly off the controller.

    • +1

my pc didnt have bt, sure its only like.. $2 for an adpater but the latency thing is a nice bonus

      • +1

I bought the TPLink USB bluetooth 5 adapter so far it is fine with the controller.

    • +2

It's extremely reliable compared to bluetooth.

    • +1

      Also less power drain

  • Has anyone tried using this on the steam deck and had any issues?

  • Thanks, got one.

These were out of stock for ages, I gave up.

And you can never get just the official wireless adapter anymore, they only seem to sell it with this.

    • +1

Yes I had the same issue! Lost my adapter last year and have been looking for one for ages. Already have 3x Xbox controllers so never wanted to pull the trigger on a bundle.

Just bought one off ebay for $21 so hopefully it works haha.

      • +2

are they genuine microsoft adapters though? there are a bunch of fakes and all of the original ones are sold out.

        • +1

are they genuine microsoft adapters though?

          Don't think so.

          • @superforever: Not from ebay but I got one from AliExpress and turned out to be genuine Microsoft.

            • +3

              @yusufay:

AliExpress and turned out to be genuine Microsoft.

They have the Xbox logo on it but not genuine.

              • +2

@superforever: Is there a way to tell for sure? It looks very real, was detected by Windows automatically, everything looks fine on the device manager, works with the Xbox Accessories app, and the headset jack works as expected.
It is exactly like this one which seems to be genuine: https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/vug2sg/hello_is_my_xb…

                • +1

@yusufay: In that case doesn't matter

You have a link to the one you bought? Is it the same as reddit with the box in Chinese?

        • +1

Yeah they're not genuine, but payed with PayPal so if any issues will just file a claim.

Hope it works though, was so much more convenient being able to use my wireless controllers, have been using a wired controller for the last 12+ months.

  • +1

I remember once it was $69~79 with the receiver.

  • Two questions.

    1. Do these come with a rechargeable battery? is it swappable or not like the playstation ones?
    2. Is the "rumble" feature supported in wireless mode?
    • +4

Do these come with a rechargeable battery? is it swappable or not like the playstation ones?

I use eneloop, you mean vibration? Yes it is supported and it is a wireless controller.

    • +2

It does comes with 2 duracel disposable AA batteries.
There are plenty after market rechargeable ones like these
      https://www.amazon.com.au/PowerA-Wireless-Controller-Chargin…

Some come with a dock for 2 controllers.

      • +4

Used to hate this about the MS controllers. But 10 years on, changing batteries in my Dualshock 3 and 4 controller is a (profanity) compared with eneloops for the old Xbox 360 controllers :)

  • does anyone know if you have 1 adaptor, you can connect other xbox controllers with it too or is it a 1 to 1 thing? and then the rest will have to connect via BT?

    • +2

      Read the description.

      • my bad there

    • +3

You can connect up to 8 Xbox Wireless Controllers at once

  • Can this adapter be used to connect to other Bluetooth devices such as Bose headphones etc?

    • +1

It is not bluetooth, is wireless

    • +2

More specific to superforever's answer, it's not a Bluetooth dongle but the proprietary Xbox wireless standard, so it only works with Xbox controllers. So no, you can't use it with headphones unless you can plug them into the 3.5mm jack on the controller itself which means they're no longer Bluetooth headphones.

  • This is cheaper on amazonnusually

    • Amazon link already posted.

  • Sold out on Amazon already?

  • Not for Windows 11?

    • +1

      Not for Windows 11?

Should be fine, just the description.

    • +1

I use this on Win 11 fine

  • Might be a stupid question, but will this work on an XBOX One S (i've got the Minecraft one)?

There was a reply here. Disappeared as I was replying to the reply.

It's probably more cost effective to buy this if it works on the One S and Windows 11, but mainly just after the adapter.

    • +1

I use mine on either Win 11 PC or old gen Xbox One X. One S should be fine

  • +1

this WILL be a stupid question ..
I know that you cannot use the Xbox One controller on an old Xbox360 .. but this product (with the dongle), will it work on a Xbox360 if I plug in the dongle in USB?

They talked about it here, but nobody ever confirmed it worked or not:
    https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/173912/is-it-poss…

Was wondering if anyone has this model controller and has tried it with an Xbox360?

    Thanks.

      Also interested

    • Are you asking if:

      1. you can use an Xbox 360 controller with this dongle
        or
      2. you can use an xbox one controller + this dongle with an xbox 360 console
        ?
      • I would like to use this Xbox One controller + this dongle on the Xbox 360 console.

        Reason ..
I have gone through 3 "knock-off" no-name-branded rechargeable battery packs that suck (and Nyko no longer makes xb360 battery packs) for the xb360 controllers.

I know I can just buy a AA battery thing and use rechargeable AA batteries to continue using the xb360's controllers. But if I can "upgrade" the controllers, this would be a better option than looking to replace the xb360 controllers with overpriced (and probably used) MS controllers when the original ones (finally) give out.

I'm asking cause I don't wanna blow the cash to test and return if it fails, so hoping someone who's got the same setup can let me know. =D

        Thanks.

  • +2

The dongle is great compared standard BT, especially if you randomly get interference

    • Yeah even 5-star-reviewed PC bluetooth dongles are often insufficient for multiple game controllers a standard couch-distance away from the PC.

One player on a desk? BT is fine.

4 players in the living room, 4 metres from the PC? BT is dropouts, latency, and hassle.

  • What is the normal price?

  • Will this work with diablo 4 on pc and get vibrations?

  • Yes - I'm using this to play D4 on PC

  • how easy is it to tell when the AA batteries are low? does it flash around the xbox logo like the older controllers?

debating whether or not to look into a usb recharcheable battery (surely they exist) or just get the recharcheable eneloops into the mix

    • Eneloops work perfectly for these - the console will tell you when the batteries are running low, just pause your game and swap in a freshly charged set.

      • thanks, just bought a pink controller ;)
