Just got one - I'm planning on using it as a Retro gaming setup with Batocera.linux. These are powerful little machines that are far more powerful than any Raspberry Pi, and very tiny.

If you want to pair with a TV, this only comes with 2x DP ports, so need to add something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08DKGDDFQ/ref=ppx_yo_d…

EDIT: If anyone is interested to grabbing one for the same reason I am (retro couch gaming with a tv), here is a great guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUfHAFyjby0 - he actually recommends these micro / mini PCs are the perfect machine for this exact situation.

    • Crunch the bitcoinzzzzzzzz haha

  • Got my shipping nofication today. They did tell me by the end of the week they will all be shipped. I wonder what systems i can emulate with this. I'm guessing anything after ps1 it might struggle? Wouldn't mind being able to do some gamecube if possible.

  • Any idea when these will be sent out? I ordered on 16/6, got confirmation no indication when it will be sent.

Just received mine. Came with NO hard drive - very disappointed.

    • So it didn't include the 256 SSD? Are you going to get a refund?

    • Damn that sucks. Hopefully this isn’t for all of us. Hopefully they don’t screw you over and you get a refund.

I'm not sure if you made the same mistake as me, but the M.2 drive is actually located under the motherboard. I opened up the machine and thought straight away "WTF, no NVME drive or 2.5 inch drive…" but upon further investigation, both the RAM and M.2 card are under the panel on the bottom that slides out after you remove the top.

    • Check again, it comes with NVMe under the board

  • This thin client is so worth it, it comes with a 256GB NVMe already and a slot for a 2.5 SSD
Since that is true, I had checked that before, this thin client should also accept 32GB

It is a hell of a hardware for just $133.
I am thinking in buying more haha

EDIT: No anymore, sold out :(
    Thanks OP

  • Also came here to complain about the missing 2.5" SATA SSD, but found the 256GB NVMe SSD under the motherboard - definitely a great deal!!

Now how do I install Batocera onto the NVMe SSD? I've only got a USB to SATA adaptor…

  • (leaving this comment so I can find the thread)
Mine hasn't arrived yet, ordered on 17th

Ordered mine on the same date. It's on it's way. Should be here by Wednesday, in north QLD. Hoping i'm able to dual boot batocera and windows. Will look into that once it gets here. :)

    • Same, ordered on the 17th too, not even been shipped yet (I’m in vic)

    • Ordered on the 19th, also still waiting for it to be posted

Emailed and they've let me know they're busy being EOFY and it will be posted today

        • Mine was posted a few days ago, due next Tuesday. I think we are all spoiled with Amazon's fast delivery.
ebay seem to be faster but I think this is because many items are instantly marked as sent, even though it takes a day or two.

    • Mine arrived today. Needed some new thermal paste. But works well.

      • Do you think this is necessary? I didn't think to check mine. I have some old Artic Silver 2 I can use.

They probably don't get hot enough to matter tbh but I could see some small clump of dust sticking out of the vents on mine, so I opened it up & went to town with my air compressor and then decided "since I already have it open I may as well check the thermal paste" which was hard and crusty, so I cleaned it off and replaced it anyway.

          • @fimmwolf: Hmm, I'll check mine before I use it. Thanks for letting us know about the thermal paste :)

  • Mine arrived today. Came with a little usb wifi adapter but it's got pretty bad signal so i'll probably replace that. Apart from that it seems like a pretty zippy little system. Can't seem to get hdr though when connected to my lg oled tv. Thought it might be able to do that.

    • +1

You will need an active DP to HDMI adapter for that. The HDMI port that is on the box does not support HDR but the displayport does.

Note that the 6th generation Intel will not hardware decode hevc so HDR videos will be heavy on the CPU.

      • HDMI? mine doesn't seem have one haha
Caught me at setup but running it headless so just borrowed an adaptor

  • Mine arrived today. I got the SMS after I had walked 20 meters past the post office at 4:45pm. I walked back, picked it up and took my new toy home to my pre-setup monitor and.. I don't own a DisplayPort cable or adapter. Bugga. I'll have to get a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.

    • +1

You mean you don't have boxes of misc cables and adapters like most of us?

      • Not this one and not as many as I used to. The last cable I bought was a 8K HMDI and a few Female USB C to USB A converters. I don't own a single DisplayPort cable! Great shame in me!

My nerd cred has been greatly weakened!

  • Just to update to say GREAT THANKS to op.
This has to be my best value tech purchase so far lol.

I am thinking of replacing the 256GB SSD with a 1TB for reliability.
    Is "NVME 2280" correct type?
