Accor advantage plus has a lot of benefits, but it is expensive.
$299 pa. Includes 1 free asia pacific night, discounts at accor properties and up to 50% off food dining at hotels around the world even if not staying at an accor property.
Perth has a derth of accor properties, but I am going to be a busy girl in the next 14 - 20 months with trips within oz, nz and asia. I thought I'd look into it.
My ex mother in law gave me her card number and has let me borrow her card in the past, but in asia, they really stick to the rules and copy your passport, etc. Labor is so cheap they can afford to dot the i's and cross the t's.
I called advantage plus and found that they'd sell my x-MIL a supp card for $129. She was happy to get me a supp card. I saved $170 and did without the free night voucher, which a lot of peeps think is hard to redeem.
I have checked out the savings in the various countries and reckon it'll save well and truly more than $300 off rooms, much less the food.
I'm travelling to asia with my young daughter who gets completely pissed off at me for making her eat ONLY street and hawker food in asia. This will encourage me to stay in more mainstream properties when I am with her and will possibly give her a more palatable option for dining on the rare occasion I allow her to dine in the hotel. Otherwise she would be eating ONLY steamed rice by the end of the trip like she did when we we went to Singapore for 9 days last year.
So, if you have a family member who is a member, check out their rates for members and think whether it might be worthwhile to get a supp card. Or, you could go halvsies with someone.
If you live near an accor hotel with a restaurant you are happy to eat at, you get 50% off ALL food if two dine.
If one dines, you get 25% off, 3 diners =33% off, up to 10 diners equating a 10% the total bill.. Four diners attract a 25% discount. Best discount is for a couple. It is nice because you can order what you want and not have to match up mains only. So you could both get a buffet or 1 get a buffet and the other order a la crap, or both order a la crap with multiple entrees and no mains.
Melb and syd people are more likely to find it of use. When they used to have a fancy dining room on Fri and Sat nights at the Novotel Vines in Perth's swan valley, it was a great deal. Now they just have a trough/buffet service on many nights at Muscats, it isn't worth a special trip.
The free night is hard to redeem in a good property on a weekend. You can end up staying in a 'not your preferred' hotel for the sake of redeeming the free night. Secondly, not all brands within the accor group accept this card for dining purposes. As mentioned by voteofetn, it will be good to get it a supplementary card if you tend to dine regularly in restaurants in the Sofitels in Australia. The value is best if only two people are dining. A table of four is a mere 25% discount off the food bill.
