I searched the forums for discussion on this topic. interestingly, the search didn't yield good results. I am looking for a good electric shaver which can provide a clean shave. I have tried a couple of them over the years. I still end up using the Gillette blades.

Safety razors I find are preferable
My reco is to buy a hair trimmer set and just use it for your beard.
I bought an el cheapo Remmington hair trimmer (maybe $25) like 5 years ago. It would probably struggle with my hair, but has been going strong for ages for beard usage only.
Some baby oil will help improve longevity/ease of cutting.
If you want the clean cut then double edge safety razor the only way to go. I made the switch from cartridges recently and never going back.
I have a Panasonic Arc 3 that shaves very close and comfortably. Even better than my Mach 3 as I’m cutting against the grain with no ingrown hairs and irritation.
Not as close as my DE razor, but for quick shaves every morning it’s very very good.
The trick is to wet shave. I just use QV wash, which I use to wash my face normally with, which provides some lubrication.
I used Braun 9 and a safety razor. I have moved to Braun 9. I use tretinoin so my face skin is very sensitive at which I can't use a razor anymore. Braun 9 gives a pretty close shave. If I have to rate the safety razor as 8/10 (I can't get the neck shave to be smooth as baby butt), then I would say Braun is probably 7/10. It gets closer than those crappy cartridges but not as close as a safety razor.
