[Solved] Has Anyone Seen This Garden Tool in Oz?

https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/94278/104384/garden_pi…

I watch a Youtube channel for a pressure washing guy based in the UK. Often he has to do a bit of gardening and cleaning up before he can start pressure washing paving etc. He uses this to pick up the rubbish and can work very quickly and efficiently. Appears to be just metal tubing and plastic at the end.

I know Bunnings has a pair of plastic shovel type things you can use to pick up stuff, but this is even better. No bending.

I really need something like this (back problems and cannot bend down to pick up stuff). Probably available from Homebase, B@Q etc in the UK, but I shudder to think what sort of freight charge to get one out to the colonies. Just had a look on Homebase but cannot see it there. Will message him via his Youtube and ask him.

Sorry it is not the best pic, hard to get a good screen grab at exactly the right point, though I am sure there will be an app for that of course.

    Google leaf grabber

That one seems to be darlac dp556 (or a rip off of it)
Doesn’t seem to be an Aussie distributor.

Draper 82899 on eBay looks to be similar and available for about 92 after discount shipped on eBay (from my 5 seconds of googling).

its called a blower…………and you blow all that shit into your neighbors yard or on the road like a proper aussie

dont forget to call ur neighbor a (profanity) if he kicks up about it

    • Extra points if your leaf blower sounds like a Harley Davidson and it's 8am Sunday morning!

  • We have a https://www.mitre10.com.au/spear-jackson-leaf-grabber and it's fantastic for those of us with old backs.

    • My 87yo Dad has a set of those, yes ther are really good if you can’t bend easily. I was at his place a month ago and used them a lot to pick up leaves while I was there. (Filled a 1M3 bag 5 times in a week and didn’t scratch the surface…lots of massive trees).

One of the scoops came loose and started to swivel/rotate on the shaft. I think the old man fixed it with an extra self tapping screw. (I didn’t check how but it was fixed). Other than that no real issues. …. He would have got it from the local M10.

  • Can highly recommend one of theses as well. There is also a gorilla brand one, but this one is excellent. Can be reused, and can use it to store leaves so that they can be decanted into the green bin over time if you have a big volume of leaves to deal with.

Because they are basically a meter square at the opening, it is very easy to use in combination with the spear and Jackson leave grabber (no spillage).

  • Blow those leafs to your lawn then lawn mow them.

    • This is what I do at my own home, (I don’t have to blow them, they pretty much fall on the grass). The old man tries to do that too but for an 87 yo, with a residential property surrounded by 60yo deciduous trees (liquid ambers and pin oaks, massive over telephone pole height), even that’s a lot. I did also get him a couple more batteries for his blower. I’m 500km away so it’s a 4-6 week visit cycle, and this time of year the leaves are well over ankle deep on the lawn in that time … and roof/gutters. Garden beds get left. (He won’t hire a local gardener yet .. DIY crazy).

Deciduous trees - I believe this is the same radient tree I saw in Wollongong botanical garden in recent trip, pretty tree - the leaves has mutliple colours.

Anything for 87 yo will be hard work especially garden stuff. Good on you to pay him a visit in regular basis.
