Price goes up dramatically when choosing the 150cm desk with a desk top option. Frame itself is $322 (if i remember. Could be wrong…. please correct me). Ebay+ knocks off $60+.

    • Looks correct to me. $378.30 for white frame with 150cm walnut top. $75 delivery to SA.

    • haha what? the price I put up was with the 150cm desk. Also, not sure about past prices - I didn't check. Was happy to share 150cm with desk for sub 400.

      • got the manual one at specials from aldi and loving it
I can live with turning the lever since it gives me some break in between

I’ve got this desk (or a variation on it) - very good for the price, I think mine was under $350 at the time.

Probably 95% as good as my ZenSpace desk for half the price.

  • Is single not recommended? There is a kogan one for almost half price

      Lost me at kogan

  • Damn, $75 postage to SA. Shame.

Would definitely recommend going the frame only and then you can get a top from Bunnings (something like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/practa-2200-x-600-x-26mm-acacia-…) for $109. The dual motor works fine with that 2.2m length top - you can definitely cut it down to size, but it gives a massive amount of deskspace for a pretty low price point.
I got one last year, and it has worked flawlessly.

    • I was looking into doing this myself, however the listing says it can fit up to 1.6m. Did you install the 2.2m top with an over hang?

      • +7

The legs expanded to the point of 'allowing' for a 1.8m desk. So with a 2.2m top, there was some overhang, but the main centre of mass was still very much in the middle with the legs being centered. If the desk was empty and I was to put all my weight on one end, then yeah maybe I could lift the other end up, but it still feels very robust with a top that size.

        • Thanks for the advice and photo, appreciate it.

        • Thats a great idea, what type of screws did you use to fix it to the frame?

          • +1

@DR-JEKL: Just the ones supplied - they were sufficient!

It's a shame that the width is only 600mm. 700mm is the minimum I would go with (the OP deal is 750mm).

My desktop is 1400 x 700 x 25 and seems just about right in terms of ergonomics, with the monitors, deskmat, keyboard, and wrist rest fitting within the 700mm width perfectly - it wouldn't work within a 600mm width.

Having said that, I do appreciate that we do live in a lucky country where we can buy real wood desktops at affordable prices at a local store - I have a mate in Hong Kong who would have to fork out a fortune for an imported wooden top (around AU$2000 I think, just for the top!).

    • This is the way. Better dimensions available than stock and it's real wood which is much more luxurious compared to particle board & laminex.

    • Did you need to sand and varnish that benchtop yourself? Looking at the pictures it's hard to tell if you need to do a DIY on it.

      • +1

It might be pre-oiled - check in store, not sure if that's what you want though. To me, varnished finish is much nicer for a desk.

      • +1

It was pre-oild, but I sanded it back/rounded the edges, and re-finished it. Personally I liked a smoother round edge on desks, and I had the means to DIY that.

  • Anyone found any reasonably-priced cable management for this type of desk?

    • +2

I bought something like this (my original purchase is no longer listed on Amazon): https://amzn.asia/d/b3Esj7A

Be sure to do your own search as I just picked a random Amazon listing that came as a 2-pack.

I like that I don't need to do any drilling and can relocate it quite easily.

      • Awesome. Thanks.

      • Thanks! Wish i thought about this. I just used double sided tape and cable ties.

  • Only raises to 1130 which is on the low side. Others usually go to 1180 or 1210.

I got a dual motor electric desk frame for $253 that goes to 1270 and the top is $57.

    • Link please. And where did you get top from?

      • +2

        Desk: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/255994537300

        Desktop: https://bit.ly/3qCQyZn

I got the frame and reneged on the top after seeing Burkey's post, I'll look for a bigger one.

        • Damn, I paid 1.4k for my frame + desktop in 2016. Frame looks kind of similar to that.
          Guess I got (profanity) lol

          • +1

@idonotknowwhy: Pretty safe bet that these won't last the seven years that you've had yours, that's where your money went :-)

        • Out of curiosity, do you drill holes on the top and screw it to the desk? Or just put the top on the desk and use straightaway?

          • @FOX: With a different desk top to the frame, you'll need to drill holes and screw it in. There's a few desktop brands on eBay that suit the frame and the holes are predrilled i.e. Artiss

Paid $284 last year for study room, great desk

  • Got the Sierra 140cm for $256 last year. Going strong.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SALE-SIERRA-Dual-Motor-Electric-…

  • How low does this go ? I have a zen desk which goes down. To 73 I think. Ideally should be under 70cm to be more comfortable

  • Are the motors in these cheapies likely to burn out quicker than Omnideak, Desky, etc?

  • 80 kg must be hard to move…i am looking for something very light easy to move tables for my laptops or work from home office..can be also non woden….any recommendations? 160x 80 minimum

    • 80kg is the max load, this weights 22kg (plus tabletop).

    • You can usually add castors to these desks instead of the feet.

  • +1

They have a 120kg heavy duty version as well. I just bought and stacked with Bupa life rewards eBay gift cards (3%) and shopback (4%), and i bought 2 which had a ebay "bulk savings" discount as well. Weee!
