  • Must be new card?

I’m not getting any of these offers.

    • Nope, Platinum Charge maybe.

      • Not getting it on any of the plat charge and plat edges I know. Seems like a highly targeted promo.

      • Not on plat C

  • I got it on my explorer.

How long have you had this card?

Do you use it regularly or is it rarely used?

I’m trying to understand the pattern/eligibility of these offers.

      • I had it since 2016. Big spender, minimum $15k a month.

  • I got it only on my Plat Charge.

Sharing my experience with some recent Amex cashbacks - they knocked back my Cashback twice in the last month or so. First one was a Ampol spend $60 get $5. Although the place was listed in the map of participating locations, they denied cashback saying that it was an EG place and cashback does not apply. Apparently that was a fine print in the terms, but not clear and dodgy. I thought I missed it and gave another go and was bit once again with the 20% off dine in offer. Once again - although the place was listed in the participating Amex map, my cashback was declined stating that only places marked as participating dine out offer was included.
So, Amex probably isn’t the Amex we knew in the past and are finding all reasons not to honour cashback. Beware !

      You always read the T&C…
      Ampol is never EG places.

What the F is an EG place?

  • Nothing on the Essentials (half expected)

  • Got spend 400 get 40 on discovery

  • Targeted.

  • American Express has dropped the ball. All round service is terrible. No one is even based in australia unless you get their top card.
    Not worth it. Cancel coming

  • So i guess purchases made via PayPal dont count? What about Prezzee which use stripe? Made a few giftcard purchases totalling over $400 at Prezzee but still no confirmation email received
