    $449 at JB
Who then got price beat by office works $447
Who then got price matched by Amazon

    • amazon price match?

      • +6

Almost all of Amazons sales are simply price matching local competition…

        • could not get Amazon price match as its policy states that they dont price match

          • +3

@JieZ: As in Amazon team are changing their listing prices, to reflect the same RRP as local retailers like Officeworks and JB Hi-Fi.

  • Was under $400 a few weeks back at Amazon, maybe that was a 1 off on old stock..

  • +2

These are not really a "deal" unless under $400

    • +3

That’s only happened once according to 3 Camels. Still a pretty good price.

    • +1

They're still the best value tablet

  • +2

Let's aim for $350 later this year. hopefully :)

  • Any difference between these and the 2022 model?

    • +8

      1 year

    • +5

Yes, more updates than usual this time. USB-C and some physical differences too, see link below for a summary.

9th gen (2021) is excellent for school kids though (and probably others), no need to spend the extra money for 10th gen (2022).

Good summary. As much as I hate the lightning port the $250 difference is pretty big for kid usage, going to cheap or with 9th gen on this deal

      • +1

True, but it is a much bigger performance leap to an iPad Air. I would pony up the difference for an Air over a 10th gen if performance was important, otherwise just save money and get the 9th gen iPad.

      • My only concern would be the 64gb for school. My kid had a 128gb model and filled it up fast… apps, school work, photos, video etc

    • the home button looks outdated now

Went to jb hifi yesterday to check out the 2021 v current model as I want to get the kids and wife ipads. First world problems I know but the lightning port and bezels were downsides for me on the 2021. I might hang out for when the new models launch to see if the current model goes on sale.

I tried to be cheap and buy some chinese android devices - never again.

        • Honestly, when you’re holding one of these, you’ll thank the larger bezels for preventing random touches/palm rest from triggering on the screen.

Touch ID also means you can add more than one person’s fingerprint for ease of access and kids can’t just hold it up to your face to unlock it.

  • Any good kids case for this iPad?

    • +3

These are pretty good for young children:

I personally went with this case when the iPad went on sale last time. Good quality case if you want something that is more slimline

      • Thanks

      • Thanks for this, ordered the 2nd.

Basically the same thing at JB was $49, what a rip!

    • Of course. If you were to compare this one against the gen 10, the features don't really justify the difference in price.

This includes more updates than usual this time. USB-C and some physical differences too, see link below for a summary.

      Ipad 9 vs Ipad 10 Buyer's Guide:

      https://www.macrumors.com/guide/ipad-9-vs-ipad-10/

This should help you make an excellent case for purchasing this one 😁

      • Looking at that guide, it seems this model only has 3gb of RAM. Any Android or windows device would be noticeably laggy with only 3gb of ram these days and it just keeps getting worst as apps and websites require more and more.

I know Apple tends to be more optimised but still, with only 3gb of RAM will this tablet still be useful in say 2-3 years?

        • You're underselling it - The apple stuff is very optimised and performant with that ram. This tablet will be useful all the way up until they stop supporting it - 4+ years? which is it's other selling point.

The Ipad Air 1 I had was still perfectly fine even upto them dropping support for it.

  • Will office works match or beat this price. Im thinking 10%/off gift cards?

    • +3

      Its already matched

      • Thanks, bought one last night

  • Bought this from amazon warehouse last week for 390. Brand new with plastic wrap so it is worth looking out for those deals.

    • There is one for $411.24( Used - Very Good), Is this the same thing you got?

  • 9th gen is best gen imo.

  • Got one of JB yesterday, sales guy sold me the extra warranty by Square Trade as he said it’s AppleCare and it even had AppleCare logo on it, it cost $129 for 2 years with a $65 fee to replace if any problem.
I was with my daughter at the time, so I just said yeah (she was excited to get her new iPad), as long as IT IS AppleCare, he said yeah yeah, but now that I’ve done more research it seems it’s Not AppleCare!
I think there was a 30 day cooking off period.
Anyone had any experience with this warranty?

    • I think you got JBs "Extra Care".

    • I think you got taken for a JB ride. These extra warranties are meaningless when you have recourse under the Australian Consumer Law guarantee. They are just an upsell. Still I guess the sales guy gets closer to making his monthly bonus target

Thanks op, perfect timing as the kid's old iPad is struggling to charge and he needs it for school.
