Welcome to the ultimate guide of Netflix subscriptions

Updates:

  • 27/06/23 2pm – Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
    • Original deal post rates: Basic TL₺63.99 (~A$4.06), Standard TL₺97.99 (~A$6.22), Premium TL₺130.99 (~A$8.31)
  • 07/07/23 2am – Updated FAQ section to include all error codes as a result of the 30-day local restriction lockout.
  • 08/07/23 11pm – Updated Instructions section to include a new sign up method via OlduBil's Turkish Virtual Mastercard (Instructions – Method #2), with screenshots (tested and confirmed). I'll be drafting another set of instructions to separate Method #1 (Part 2) as another sign up method via a Turkey phone number. Stay tuned!

You probably know by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's going to be good and better than the previous one. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

This new guide has now been updated to include:

  • problems related to new subscriber sign-ups to Netflix Turkey. Please read the FAQ section for further clarification.
  • new statistics in regards to pricing
  • screenshots at each necessary step of the sign up process (yes, I unnecessaily spent a chunk of money to test the local region lockout and to obtain screenshots to better guide everyone through the sign up process! I hope this helps - please see Instructions Part 3 for these screenshots)

Note that due to a recent and continuing crash in the Turkish Lira currency, the TRY-AUD is hitting an all time low. All prices in this guide are current as of 27 June 2023.

Netflix Post History Notes
09/06/2023 - This post Netflix Region Lock
28/01/2023 Price Hike
22/10/2022 Price Hike
14/06/2022 Price Hike
01/10/2021

Similar to my last post, I'm resharing this guide after previous deal post expired due to Netflix imposing a lock region lock. Luckily, there are no more price hikes for now, after having the third price hike for Turkey within a 10 month period.

  • Turkey is no longer the cheapest country for a Netflix subscription on all tiers, after they increased prices multiple times (Example: Premium plan from TL₺54.99 to TL₺77.99 to TL₺93.99 to TL₺130.99 in a span of just over a year).
    • However, obtaining a Turkey-based Netflix Gift Card is extremely easy and effortless, making it the easiest and therefore cheapest country to sign up with.
  • Pakistan is the cheapest country for all Netflix plans, however, obtaining a Pakistan-based Netflix Gift Card to sign up is almost impossible, so avoid this path.
  • NEW!! Netflix Argentina is now ARS999 (A$6.10) for the Basic Plan and ARS2,399 (A$14.64) for the Premium Plan (in the last Netflix post, Argentina prices were ARS699 (A$4.27) for the Basic Plan and ARS1,899 (A$11.59) for the Premium Plan - that's a 42.9% and 26.3% increase, respectively). The Argentina Peso has dropped, but plans are still more expensive.

Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2

There are plenty of previous threads on users commenting their experience. Please read it if you are stuck. See here and here and here and here and here

Instructions – Method #1 (If you want Netflix to charge your Australian debit/credit card each month)

Please read the following instructions carefully.

Part 1 - Ensure you have your Australian mobile number and debit/credit card saved in your account

Complete either steps (a) or (b), depending on your current situation

a. If you currently have an Australian Netflix subscription:

  1. Make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  2. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account. If your payment method is PayPal, remove this immediately and replace it will a debit/credit card.

  3. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, simply cancel your subscription and wait until the end of the renewal period (i.e. keep watching until the sub expires. Don’t let your sub go to waste since you’ve already paid for it). Once your subscription has expired, go to Part 2 or Part 3

b. If you DO NOT have a current Australian subscription:

  1. Sign up and subscribe to any Australian Netflix plan (preferably the lowest cost basic plan - don’t worry, you’ll get your money back). Do not use PayPal to sign up, it must be a debit/credit card.

  2. Once you’ve signed up, make sure your Australian mobile number is saved and verified in your account. See this screenshot

  3. Make sure your current or new debit/credit card is saved and verified in your account.

  4. Once you’ve triple checked your mobile is added and verified, go to Netflix Live Chat and tell them you “would like a full refund since you’ve changed your mind” - they usually don’t ask why but if they do make up some random excuse like “my sibling just signed up” or “you don’t want it anymore” etc. This should be a very fast step and take you only several minutes. The account cancellation will be effective immediately and the refund will arrive in a few hours or days

  5. Once your subscription has expired (should be immediate as you’ve cancelled it for a refund through live chat), go to Part 2 or Part 3

Part 2 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Direct Method - No Gift Cards - MOST LIKELY TO FAIL - AVOID)

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before starting Part 2. It has completely ended when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership

  1. With VPN off, log into your Netflix account

  2. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/
    ExpressVPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem: You use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, but it defaults to one of the cities of Turkey that is not Istanbul.
Possible Solution: You want it to land in Istanbul, Turkey, so keep turning off and on the VPN until it lands in Istanbul. Confirm it’s Istanbul by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

  3. Open Netflix on a new tab and proceed to Netflix to choose your plan:

    https://www.netflix.com/

  4. Proceed by adding your Australian credit/debit card as the backup payment method

Possibly working cards from: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie

Possible Problem: If it asks for a Turkish mobile number, you will have to find a working one so they can send you verification. AFAIK, there is no way bypassing this and you will need to sign up via Part 3

Part 3 - Signing up via Netflix Turkey (Using Gift Cards if Part 2 Fails) - EASIEST METHOD

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership)

  1. Purchase a Turkey Netflix Gift Card (any value is fine, even if it's not enough to cover the full month)

Note: Choose a reputable seller and make an account so you have a record of the purchases if anything goes wrong. I recommend Turgame (I've bought Turkey Apple GC's from there and they have fast delivery (at night time AEST), they charge the same price as the gift card value and the payment gateway fee is very low) or g2a

  2. Once you’ve received your gift card, it’s time to redeem your gift card and sign up to Netflix Turkey at the same time. Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account. If you’ve logged out, please log back in now with VPN turned off (Logging into your Australian account with a VPN on gives an error)

  3. Activate a VPN service, turn it on and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs where possible

Possible Problem 1: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  4. With VPN on, open a new tab and go to the following Netflix site to redeem your gift card See this screenshot:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/redeem

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed

Possible Problem: When redeeming the Turkey Netflix Gift Card, it gives an error (code invalid, etc)
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed. If after several VPNs and this issue still occurs, try to reach out to your place of purchase due to them possibly issuing you an incorrect code

  5. Follow the prompts of the sign up process. This screenshot will show the first page after applying the gift card. Click "Next" to land on this page. Choose the plan you want, then click "Next" to land on the payment page in step 6

  6. Proceed by choosing a backup payment method. Be careful with this step and look at the screenshot!

  • If you did Part 1 instructions correctly then your payment method is already saved within your account - in this case, press "skip this step" at the bottom. On the next page, click "Next" (see screenshot). Now Netflix will want to confirm your details to make sure it is correct as per (this screenshot). Double check, tick the checkbox and start your membership!

  • Otherwise, if for some reason you haven't done Part 1 correctly or your debit/credit card has expired, you will have to add a new debit/credit card (see screenshot). Beward this may prompt you for a Turkey number verification (which I guarantee you don't have otherwise you would have done Part 2) - if this happens, please complete Part 1 again (see fix below)

Possible Problem: After entering your debit/credit card details, it asks for a Turkish mobile number
Possible Solution: Two causes for this. Cause (1): the problem is due to your VPN - Double check or change your VPN if needed, then go back to step 4. Cause (2): This is because you've entered a new debit/credit card. In this case, please click back on your browser and avoid entering a new card by pressing "skip this step" at the bottom. If this option does not appear, please restart Part 1 and ensure you save the card you wish to use as a backup payment.

Possible Problem: My debit/credit cards keep declining, and I'm unable to subscribe
Possible Solution: It's likely the problem is due to your VPN. Double check or change your VPN if needed and restart the whole process. However, if VPN is not the problem, you can continue to subscribe without a backup payment method (i.e. start your subscription with just the Gift Card you bought), and then afterwards you can contact live chat and tell them you need to update your payment method by asking them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Note: If you bought a gift card that has a higher value than your selected plan, you’ve just used your gift card to pay for the first month, as well as partially for the second month. For the second month, Netflix will deduct the remaining of the gift card, and the remaining balance will come out of the credit/debit card you’ve inputted, and from thereon each month Netflix will keep charging your bank at those rates (be aware many banks like Commonwealth Bank have a small international transaction fee but this is only a few cents extra. Suncorp and Latitude Platinum have no international fees). Besides this, you should be saving >$100 AUD each year at least ($200 saving annually for the premium plan)

  1. You’re done! Turn off your VPN and enjoy your subscription :)

Instructions – Method #2 (If you want Netflix to charge your OlduBil Turkish Virtual Mastercard each month)

Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard Required! If you do not have a Turkey-based Virtual Mastercard, see how to get one here in the instructions section (Part 1 and Part 2). You can use it forever, with many deals to come!

Please ensure your subscription has completely ended/expired before signing up to this deal (i.e. when you can no longer watch anything and Netflix asks you to resubscribe or restart your membership).

  1. Log in to your Australian Netflix account, or sign up for an account. Make sure you log in with VPN turned off (logging into your Australian account with a VPN gives an error).

  2. Activate a VPN service, and set it to Turkey (Istanbul is the largest city). There’s many free VPN’s if you don’t have a subscription to one. Here's a few great VPNs that work:

    Nord VPN: https://nordvpn.com/ (recommended, paid)
    Urban VPN: https://www.urban-vpn.com/ (recommended, free)
    Windscribe VPN: https://www.windscribe.com/ (recommended, free)
    Express VPN: https://www.expressvpn.com/
    PureVPN: https://www.purevpn.com/

Note: Use chrome browser plugins for these VPNs, where possible.

Possible Problem: If you use Windscribe VPN and set it to Turkey, sometimes it defaults to random serves and therefore random cities of Turkey that will give you the wrong pricing (ideally, you want Istanbul). In this case, keep turning off and on the VPN until it switches to a different server/location. Confirm the location by refreshing this page: https://whatismyipaddress.com/. If this fails, change your VPN provider.

  3. With VPN on, refresh the main netflix webpage. Alternatively, go to this link:

    https://www.netflix.com/tr-en/

Possible Problem: On the plan selection page, the currency is not in Turkish Lira
Possible Solution: The problem is due to your VPN. Double check and/or change your VPN if needed

  4. Click on "Restart Membership" and follow the prompts of the sign up process. Click "Next and then select the plan you want. Click "Next"and then click "Credit or debit card". Enter your OlduBil Virtual Mastercard details, full name, tick the T&Cs declaration, and then click "Start Membership".

  5. At this stage you're done. Don’t enter anything on this page. Netflix will ask some random questions (just to set up your account). After that, your account will be complete, and you can enjoy your subscription!

FAQ

Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location"
A: It seems like every new sign-up to Netflix Turkey is subject to a local restriction lockout. This can take anywhere from as little as several days to 30 days. There are many reports from OzBargainers and others reporting this error disappears within 30 days. During this lockout restriction, you can still watch shows and movies, but you must use a Turkey VPN to do so (otherwise the error will pop up). Since this is only temporary, it shouldn't be a problem after 30 days or so, andthis small hassle is well worth the savings.

Q: Will I need to turn VPN on everytime I watch Netflix?
A: No! You no longer need to have VPN on every time you watch a show or movie. VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Q: I want to watch a show/move from another region or country. Can I do this?
A: If you want to watch a show or movie that is region locked to another country, you can do so by setting your VPN on your phone, laptop or PC to that country to watch it. Yes, you will need a VPN for this

Q: I got charged a different rate compared to the prices on this post. What happened?
A: Due to foreign exchange rates constantly fluctuating, prices will differ by several cents each month

Q: I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A: Definitely! See Part A

Q: My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A: Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work. If after several attempts it does not work, just go through the Gift Card method and avoid the pain

Q: How do I update to a new debit/credit card?
A: You can contact live chat and ask them to send a payment form popup (this will allow you to add a credit/debit card and save it into the account). If the agent refuses or has no idea what you’re trying to say, end the chat and start a new one.

Q: Is signing up to Netflix Turkey going to affect my Netflix library/catalogue?
A: After setting up this sub, you may or may not notice the Netflix catalogue may be weird with brand new shows, etc… It might not even change anything, but if it does change, your Netflix catalogue will adjust to what you’re watching and soon it will look like nothing ever happened

Q: GST/VAT and Tax related questions?
A: See here. Don't worry, there really isn't any tax you need to worry about.

      • I have tried Windscibe and Urban VPN. With Urban VPN when I connect to turkey it connects to Croatia.

        • Yeh I had the same problem. You have to change some settings within windscribe. Had to do a bit of research. Let me find it for you. Keep refreshing for now tho

        • Had to use the Urban VPN Chrome extension

          • @Cocochicken: Definitely try the winscribe chrome extension

            • @footyfreak22: The Windscribe Chrome Extension was having issues for me. Gave the error unable to process on Netflix Turkey. And took a couple of Disconnects and reconnects to join Turkey and not the UK.

              • @Cocochicken: Yeh very strange. I know I had to change settings in that extension that had to do with browsing. Was very strange. Give it a search there was some steps to follow

        • +1

Sometimes the whatsmyip said I was in Saudi but the redeem website went to turkey. Also I know that the chrome extension vpns worked better than the application itself for chrome

          • +4

@footyfreak22: NordVPN is working everytime. When there is 95%+ cashback everyone should sign up. Well worth it

    • I could only do it without a VPN turned on

    • i literally just did it without using the turkey redeem and it worked a treat, just use the AUS redeem site

  • -2

Hey guys, has anyone had the issue where after the gift card month is over it tries to charge ur credit card and it says unsuccessful. When you try and update the payment method it then asks to verify your “Turkish” phone number. Any way around this?

    • +1

Yes I’m having this issue now - my gift card month is over & Im getting an unsuccessful credit card charge error. I haven’t yet tried to update the payment method - I know there isn’t anything wrong with my card.

      • +1

Contact Netflix on their live chat and ask help in updating your payment method. They will try to send it to you via email but ask them to send it to you via the live chat. As verifying your payment through the live chat doesn’t require a Turkish mobile number.

        • +1

Just adding on to this if they ask you for a Turkish phone number or where you are currently living, just end the chat and start a new one. Took me 7 different agents before one was willing to send the form without question.

          • @BloodRanger: oh okay cool, does this not like flag your account within their system?

            • +1

@footyfreak22: Judging from all the other comments doing this I don't think so, there could always be a chance. But from what I've seen a lot of people have cycled through the help agents just fine

          • @BloodRanger: Did you connect to netflix chat via VPN to Turkey? Thanks.

            • @ejhh1012: No VPN, when I tried to it said unable to chat but that just might be from the amount of times I refreshed.

              • @BloodRanger: Thanks. I guess no VPN and you used English to chat with them?

                • @ejhh1012: That's what worked for me but YMMV

                  • @BloodRanger: Oh I see and thanks again. :)

                    • @ejhh1012: No problem, and just an update I signed up on the 8/7/23 and today (5/9/23) my geo-lock got lifted after 28 days. Thanks again to ISP for his wonderful guides

  • Part 3, after step 5 before step 6
    - I got a window to re-confirm CVC number. Once I confirmed, then there was an option to continue further and follow your guide. Might want to update this part in the guide. Note my card/payment method was OK per Part1.b.2 screenshot.

I have now been geo-locked. Will report back after 30 days.

  • +1

Just redeemed 10x 200TL gift cards. It was quite painful as I think there is a limit of how many you can redeem in such a short time within same IP address. So I kept having to cycle my VPN IP address, relogin to Netflix and redeem the gift card one at a time. Sometimes I can redeem 2 or 3 cards per session sometimes I can only redeem 1.
Now that it is done I have my netflix prepaid till January 2025. Worked out to be about $8 per month.

    • Loved the idea. I am gonna give it a go.
      Thanks for sharing

    • +2

I am reluctant to redeem so many gift cards to my account in case netflix decides to introduce household IP to Turkey accounts.

      Just something to consider.

      • Good point.

        • +1

I loaded up til May and then realised that it might be geolocked. Probably load it up for 2 months at a time but just before expiry as when it runs out and then charges from GC again I think it resets the geolock

      • Pretty sure it gets charged at old pricing until GCs run out.

          • @xwx: But also I think it needs to be loaded before any announcements. I can't remember what happened last price change, maybe someone here can provide a better answer…

            Sorry I couldn't help further.

            • @I Smell Pennies: pretty sure it's month to month and next month you get charged new amount. The gif card is a specific value not a specific term.

              • +1

@DavidFW1960: Ahhh ok, thanks for clearing it up. It was hard to tell because some people had their price hike many months later than others.

                • @xwx: It will recalculate the 'paid to' date when the price changes

    • I've been doing the same. You don't need the VPN on to add a turkish gift card to your account so maybe that was your issue? I am consistenly able to load 5 200TL cards a day.

I was expecting my 28D CC payment to fail last week, considering I have seen others saying theirs failed last month?? But much to my surprise, it went through fine. Just thought I will share here, my last 3 successful payments to Netflix Turkey. Only the one in late Jun seems to be different??

    Date Description Amount
    29 AUG 2023 NETFLIX.COM NETFLIX.COM NLD -$7.79
    29 JUL 2023 NETFLIX.COM NETFLIX.COM NLD -$7.41
    29 JUN 2023 NETFLIX.COM LOS GATOS NLD -$7.70

    • I had one successful netflix payment on 17th July which matched

      Netflix.com Los Gatos NLD

Then failed on 17th Aug with no explanation. I am on the gift card life now haha

  • FYI all, I was able to add my Coles Mastercard Credit as my backup payment method to the gift card balance I had, it was via netflix chat and they needed to give me a popup to do this, as opposed to email (this avoids the need for a turkish mobile number). My first billing with this mastercard isn't due until next month, fingers crossed no issues.

    • For netflix chat, did you do it via VPN to Turkey?
And did you provide your Credit Card details to them via netflix chat?

      Thanks.

      • Hi, I wasn't on VPN, told them my wife was travelling turkey and recharged our account with a gift card and as she is there for 6 weeks I want to apply my credit card so that she doesn't run out of the flix.. they sent me a pop out of the live chat for the card details

  • If you're getting a UI3012 error after watching one episode, you'll need to switch VPN servers each time you see that message and open Netflix in a new tab.

Netflix doesn't like VPN's in general, but obviously due to the 30 day lockout most of us will have to use it if you don't want to wait.

The account created a few days ago on Netflix is now unsubscribed is this normal? when I enter the data to log in, registration starts again, is it normal?

EDIT: I tried to reactivate an old account created in April, why am I still blocked from the area? Error Code M7111-5095.
Can someone be patient and help me figure out how I can have a Turkish Netflix account too?

    • Did you follow the steps as provided by the OP? If so then you'll be region locked out of Netflix for up to 30 days unless you first use a VPN to start the video stream and then disable the VPN.

After 30 days you will have full access to your account again.

      • yes, but the problem that happened to me from the internet page, I understand that I have to reactivate the profile while it can be seen and worked from a smartphone, what should I do?

  • Hi. My (good!) experience so far. I was region locked for ~30 days and then it unlocked. I then got the payment unsuccessful email today but got it fixed up on chat. They asked if I had access to email and I said not currently and they sent me the payment details form by chat, I put in my card details (mastercard) and it went through first time.

  • +1

Signed up on 05/08 using my Up card and Turkish number from SMS-Man. Region lock lifted exactly 28 days later on 02/09. Got charged for the second month today 05/09 with no issues.

Thanks for the awesome deal ISP.

    • but during the blocking period you can always log in and view or is your account suspended and you have to re-register?

      • +1

Not suspended, just needed to use VPN to Turkey to watch shows.

    • SMS-man safe to use? If so this is totally the way to do it. If everyone keeps getting on Netflix online chat to update their non turkey card then they are going to put a stop to this trick real quick

      • Yes it is, use a disposable card like Revolut or something to pay if you're worried.

However I believe they have a minimum top up of US$10 so using the PingMe app that someone else mentioned in other comments might be a better option. I already had an account with SMS-Man for other purposes with some balance in it and it only costs US 16c to receive a message from Netflix Turkey.

          • @xwx: Thanks I didn’t know you could top up less than US$10. It’s definitely the better option then.

  • I want to thank ozbargain page and all you users for helping endured and supported me to activate my netflix account.
I just wanted to say that "apparently" he succeeded since I had registered twice on Netflix, one with an exact email address and another with an incorrect one, which confused me. Thanks a lot to everyone

      You're welcome.

Used Turgame - couldn't use the first payment option as it seemed to not work with either credit cards but used the second option and used my USA Amex card and it worked fine - tested with 2 x 200 cards and was able to load both cards and set the account up and running.

    Thank you
I have my old account that should be running till date of lock expires - is there a notification or just a matter of trying daily

  • Does anyone remember the name of the online chat representative that would allow you to update your payment details via online secure form? Warren wouldn't budge, insisted that I had to use the link or update via logging in. Also, anyone had any success with 28 degrees or Up Bank? My 28 degrees failed so not sure whether it is worth trying it again via the online chat.

  • I have run into an issue with changing debit cards. I go through live chat but after I submit the popup form they always come back saying my card has been declined. Can I ask them to just put the details on the account as a secondary card and then change the preferred card later myself in account settings?

  • Region locked lifted after 28 days, almost to the minute

Thank you for all the comments OzB fam. I'm happy that this deal has saved you all heaps of money :))

For those who are having issues signing up due to VPN (gift card redemption issues), feel free to PM me your Netflix login, gift card code(s) and the plan you want.

I will be updating this guide soon to include the PingMe service and additional details on other stuff. I'll do this as soon as I recover from my 2-week flu.

    Thanks

Adding some more info for people updating payment details.

I tried to update with the live form via Netflix chat and both of my Westpac Debit Cards were declined. Netflix rep said it flags in the system due to Australia being the region associated with the card. I asked the rep if I could try another card, and was able to update it successfully with a Westpac Black Credit Card. No questions asked or further info required from the Netflix rep, he just said yep this one went through no problems. So it's definitely flagging region-specific cards, which explains why some people are having a win and others are resorting to gift cards. Credit card as opposed to a debit card may be the key here.

  • I am loading gift cards and have got about 6 months loaded - any disadvantage in putting on more time?

    • Well it's a risk they further lock down regions and you can't use the account. I'd say 6 months is about as much risk as I'm comfortable with although I'm paid up till 1/5/2024 myself

Yes I am July 2024 - good advice - a bit of a gamble - hopefully it pulls off

        • I'm paid up until March 2025. You only live once!

  • No mention of annual here. Is this only possible monthly..?

Fantastic guide @I Smell Pennies, thanks so much.

I have a couple of suggestions for the post, as I'm trying my best to follow it and there's probably a couple of things that would help someone else like me.

    1. You have in bold "Please note: If you DO NOT have a Turkey number, please sign up via instructions Part 1 and then Part 3. Avoid doing Part 2" Could you clarify that with what TYPE of number you're talking about there ie credit card or phone number (pretty sure its phone number, according to Part 2).

    2. My pathway is Part 1b, then Part 3. I'm having trouble understanding how you stay logged into your now-cancelled Australia Netflix subscription (as per Part 3.2).

I've cancelled and got my refund notification (as per Part 1.b4), and now its asking to re-start my subscription when I try and log in. (ie when you enter your email address, it asks you to re-start your membership).

But then in Part 3.2, it states "Make sure from Part 1 that you have not logged out. You must stay logged in to your Australian account."

But if I've cancelled the subscription (as per Part 1b) and its asking me to re-subscribe when I enter my email address, then I'm not really logged in still, am I? How can I log back in if I've cancelled? Admittedly it does still have a "Sign Out" button at the top right of the page, but I haven't entered my password so I don't see how I can still be logged in (or how I can log into a cancelled account).

Perhaps I some clarity around that would be nice. Or perhaps I've done something wrong.

I had an error where it said my account details needed updating (after gift card ran out). It looks like the CVC was missing or something.

Clicking the update link in the Netflix email resulted in it asking for a Turkish number to confirm the card update.

I went on the chat and told the agent I had issues updating my card details and to please send me a link to do so via the chat. She asked if I had access to the email the Netflix account was for, as she needed to send a verification email to it - this was a one click verification. After that she sent the card update form via the chat, and all was well again.

  • If I need to redeem more Turkish gift cards in the future, do I need to use a VPN when doing so? Or can I just purchase it and redeem without VPN?

    • Redeem without VPN. I find even if VPN is on it works anyway

  • Looks like things may have changed, but a gift card from turgame, but following the instructions kept resulting in an error message (tried both Windscribe and Urban VPN). Sent a help request to turgame, and they gave me these instructions:

    1. Connect to VPN
    2. Select any city in Turkey.
    3. Login to gmail new account creation page.
    4. Get a new email address.
    5. Open the Netflix code download page.
    6. Type the code.
    7. Enter the e-mail address you just received on the page that opens and continue to upload.
    8. After the installation, you can turn off the VPN and watch netflix by typing this e-mail on your country’s IP.
    9. When you upload to the same mail address, you can connect to Turkey IP with VPN and upload.
    10. You cannot upload the code you received from us to an account that you did not receive from a Turkish IP.
    • Not that easy anymore. I bought a gift card from turgame for Google play. 100TRY. Not been able to redeem it. Tried new Google account. Different vpn’s. No go.
      They “google” needed more information.
Worked with Apple from them though.

You don't use a VPN to redeem the gift card …

  • Trying to redeem a gift card from turgame but keep getting an error “an error occurred during gift redemption - please try again later”
I’m connected to Turkey via UrbanVPN on Firefox.
P.s: I did the same last time I redeemed and no problem, so not sure what’s different now?

    • Are you signing up or just loading GCs?

      • Just loading another gift card

        • Try doing it without VPN

          • @I Smell Pennies: Did that as well but came up with an error as well, different words but same thing

            • @rlexyd: PM me your account details and the code and I'll try do it for you

        • Been using G2A in the past. Trying Turgame for the first time. I got an error with VPN when clicked "Proceed to checkout".
Moved forward to register page without VPN.

Doesn't offer PayPal, though. For CC, I have to add my billing address which I don't want to give.

          Back to G2A.

  • My payment came out of Oldubil today. TRY 130.99
Was on geolock until few days ago. Geolock lifted

  • My card payment worked today. Was worried after all these people saying theirs failed.

    • May I ask which card you used for the payment?

      • 28D but i have been a Turkey customer nearly 4 years

  • Has anyone been able to get around for find a solution to them asking for a turkish mobile ?

I tried getting live chat to do it, but since the account isn't active, they can't do it.

    • Got it fixed. download the pingme second number app, and pay a couple of dollars to the app to get a turkey one time number.

      • Yep, me too. Using Oldubil. My first payment went through 2 days ago. No geolock since day 28.

  • Can anyone help please? I had added my aussie CC details, purchased Turkish gift card, and applied it the account. waited past 28 day lockout then had access for a month. now it says subscription on hold due to no payment information. I go to add credit card again and it asks for turkish phone number. any suggestions please?

    • Keep buying gift cards

      • I was using PingMe app. Cost a dollar or so. Creates a temporary Turkish number. Worked for me and using Oldubil as payment. First payment came out few days ago. Not geo locked anymore. Was for 28 days or so.

        • How do you top up your Oldubil CC? People have reported that Oldubil don't accept foreign payments any longer, not sure if this is true.

          • +1

@loropy9: Not sure actually. Saw few posts as well re issues lately. Luckily I had around 1000TRY in there. Use that first and worry later.

  • to answer my own question, I followed seboya's info from above. Start a chat and ask them to send a form to update details. No turkey phone number reqd!

  • @I Smell Pennies , hey. Thanks again for the guides.
What vpn are you using for Google play turkey to redeem codes? Been looking around but cannot find it. HMA doesn’t seem to work. Tried codes from turgame and G2A.

  • Im all good now, Im coming up to my month now that will use my debit card. Has anyone had any issues with this or should I top up with Gift cards?

    Cheers

  • Quick question:

My/Our FUPS cards come with a bunch of numbers; Card Number, Expiry Date, CVV, and one other I'm unsure about but assumed was the "card holders name".

When people are purchasing using the FUPS cards do they use the name on their FUPS account or another (e.g. that unknown number I pointed out)?

Just got the prices going up email for my next billing date in Nov, 199.99 lira about $11 ish , still half the price of Aus.

  • Just want to update others. My payment didnt go through. Wanted a turkey mobile for confirmation. So purchased through G2A. Turgame wouldnt go through as it kept saying to turn off VPN. Tried both pays and wouldnt take payment.

Bought a gift card, worked fine. might be the only way just to keep it going

  • This is a surprise. My Macquarie debit card expired on my Netflix account, but I couldn't update to the new expiry date without a Turkish mobile number. Meh, I hardly watch Netflix anyway, I'll just let it lapse, but the money went out anyway - at the new TL 199.99 rate. Now I'm not sure if I should dispute the transaction or stay in for the ride.
