Thoughts on Club Lime as a Gym?

So club lime/viva leisure just took over my local gym and interested in hearing peoples thoughts and experiences with them and if it's worth staying with them.

Few things to note though:

The old gym prior to club lime was great, had enough cardio, weights and Les Mills classes but sold out due to covid.

New club lime owners moved the gym next door to a bigger facility 24/7 brand new equipment but with the loss of cycle classes, this was building owners requirement but literally a week in and I'm seeing the place overrun with high schoolers members of surrounding club limes and such.

My workout routines are usually a mix of cardio Les Mills and weights so something to keep in mind for future.

Now I'm going online to product review.com.au and google seeing all negative feedback about club lime. Seeing club lime take over another gym next to my workplace few years ago where they pretty much cancelled classes.

  • Club Lime took over my gym before COVID and shitcanned almost all classes with teachers, effectively replacing them with YouTube video loops you could easily watch at home for free. The equipment is in a sorry state too having never been upgraded. Everything was outdated and some were in a state of disrepair before being taken over. Staffed hours were heavily reduced and new keyfobs were introduced (some customers were transitioned over at no cost whilst others had to pay $50 for the privilege).

I have seen other Club Limes that look well maintained but I don't know what classes they offer, if any.

  • Club Lime took over my local gym just before Covid. They said they would suspend memberships during Covid, and if you wanted, you could reserve equipment and take it home for a small charge.

This was all fine until you realized that they were not suspending memberships AND they were charging you whether you wanted to reserve the equipment or not. Took them ages to credit the money back

Then when I cancelled my membership, after they sent a price increase notice, they continued to charge me for a couple of weeks after the agreed end date.

  • Found it pretty good IMO with new equipment, I guess it depends on the location, but for the price point I think it's great value for money.

If your new local is the Gladesville branch AVOID!

On their signup page they advertise 6 weeks free if getting a multi club or higher membership but you will only receive 2 weeks free. Customer service will blame you for not reading the T&Cs which state Gladesville is excluded despite this being a multiclub membership and the signup page stating 6 weeks free in the application when selecting the option.

After requesting to cancel my application using the 7 day cooling off period they state they will charge a admin fee and activation fee of $50 each.

What's worse is they acknowledged the error and told me it was an error with their system that they could not fix so the error has still remained on their signup page.

I suspect the customer service I talked to is responsible for all branches so I'll be avoiding the company in general moving forward.

    • It's Blacktown but I will avoid Gladesville

is there any gym that doesn't pull dodgy sh!t on memberships?

  • Joined Club Lime as it was cheapest in my area last year. I got 4 weeks free on sign up and cancelled almost immediately after it was done.

Poorly maintained and smelled like it. Busiest times would be in the arvo right after high school let out and classes were sparse.
