Higher dome lid with thermostat only available in official dealer stores.

    • Yeah I bought one with the high lid and thermostat and tbh, wouldn't buy one without this.

      • Yep, best decision buying the Q3200 - thermostat especially has been a godsend given the Webber requires a different style of cooking compared to traditional BBQs.

      • How come? I've got the smaller lid and it's enough space for anything I'd ever want to cook. Got the spit attachment and cook gyros in it even.

I wouldn't pay $100 more for a thermostat when I'd use a meat thermometer anyway.

I 100% agree. I’ve owned Weber Q’s with and with out the high lid and temp gauge. Not worth the extra money. People who are saying you must buy the high lid are most likely just trying to justify their purchase in their minds. The temp gauge is anything but accurate. With the money you’ll save buying this Q and then pairing it with an inkbird or even a Weber temp sensor you’ll be much better placed.

          • @elguapo:

People who are saying you must buy the high lid are most likely just trying to justify their purchase in their minds.

And people who say you shouldn't are most likely just trying to justify their purchase in their minds.

If you can be assed using an inkbird/meater all the time and aren't cooking large roasts, you'll be alright.

        • Don't forget the electronic ignition as well.

    • Made a similar comment about the existence of the q1200 model but there may be a case for this model too:

  • Great deal, great bbq. Hey, can anyone help out with finding a solid (half) plate for this bbq that's decently priced? Thanks in advance if anyone has any buyers tips.

    • I have the Weber half plate for my q2000 and basically never use it. It takes an age to get hot enough to cook on, to the point of being useless. The BBQ just doesn't get hot enough to make it work well.

If I'm doing burgers and want to cook onions I end up just doing them on the stove

      • Wow, thanks for the advice. Didn't really think about that. Just wanted the plate for onions/eggs etc, but you make a good point, might not be worth the trouble. Thanks!

I do however have the Weber stainless grilling basket. It’s great for veggies (not egg sorry), heats up quick and you can easily take straight inside and then it frees up your full grill for the meat again. It’s bit of expensive at RRP be can be found cheaper sometimes. Easy clean in the dishwasher.

        • did you buy the elevation system as well or drop it straight on the grill?

          • @mauricem: Straight on the grill (it was a hand-me-down). Still takes some time to cook veggies even with the more direct heat, but you can’t beat that smokey BBQ flavour.

I'd assume your closing the lid and heating up the hot plate?

I got one on my Q1000, its working fine, it gets hot enough to sear steak. Its cast iron, close the lid and heat the plate up for 10 minutes to get smoking hot before cooking.

yeah super confused by their view on the half plate. Never been an issue getting hot enough for me either.

        • I was looking at a post from last year for another Weber deal, same user was complaining in there, and it's because they are trying to use it like a normal BBQ with the lid open.

The half plate has been exceptional - the best burgers I have ever had! Are you sure you are using the Webber correctly?

      • Might be time to clean out your burner tubes.
Mine gets as hot as needed for quick/flash searing etc

        • Dud pressure regulator maybe too?

      Cast iron
      https://www.campaquip.com.au/product/baby-q-half-hotplate-to…

      Stainless steel
      https://ezyq.com.au/collections/stainless-steel-hot-plates-f…

There's an ebay mob that have cast iron ones with flat one side and ribbed the other which i think would be optimal.

I had an old grill plate from a dead BBQ that i sliced into shape which was easy enough to do with an angle grinder and it works great!

Couldn't live without the half plate. Use it regularly for burgers & breakfast - once you get one you'll cook a lot of bacon and eggs

  • Sorry what does this sit on top of ? Any recommendations?

    • +1

You can get a designated trolley/cart for $179

I just put it on a table outside.

      • Yeah cheaper . Thanks

        • same here actually 😁

i have a cheap outdoor table for this…

the only downside is you cant wheel it around…

          • @meong: Where do you store it then

            • +1

@life is suffering: it is at the 'edge' of my garage now so I actually cook in the garage which is not exactly recommended by Weber. So, maybe get a proper cover for it?

There are many options for 3rd party BBQ covers out there. I'm eyeing a cover from Aliexpress so I might get that and then just leave the BBQ outside the whole time.

              • @meong: Yeah good idea. Weather is shit here in Melbourne so probably will store in garage

  • Just bought a black one. Cheers.

  • During 2020/2021 I don’t recall Weber being on special

2023 - Weber is on special

    #thanksRBA

  • after using ~20 times, the flame on mine became noticeably smaller and was not as hot as it was new. Tried to "reset" the regulator and clean the gas holes but didn't help.
never get above 200C with lid closed

  • Bought from cumtree

  • Selected BCF stores also have $50 off a $200 purchase, if you have a BCF membership.

Bringing this down to $239 for a Baby Q.

    • Any idea how to tell which stores have this, or is it a "go in store and see" kinda deal

      • +1

I photographed the sign at the counter, it says stores: - Ayr, Echuca, Victor Harbor, Margaret River, Whyalla, Ellenbrook, Cessnock, Sale, Altona, Carseldine, Haynes, Chattswood, Mittagong, Shellharbour, Munno Parra, Preston, Glendale, Parafield, Minchinburry, Bankstown, Auburn.

The discount is $20 off for $100 spend, $30 off for $150 spend, $50 off for $200 spend.

        I purchased a Weber Q for $389 using this.

    • Wierd, are BCF franchise stores?

      • Not sure, seems to be something they do when opening a new store and wanting to get the turnstile spinning.
